Job Summary:
Performs semi-technical dental and routine clerical work. Work involves assisting the dentist during examination and treatment; cleaning, sterilizing, and arranging instrument; assisting dentist with X-rays. Work under the supervision of the dentist and performs routine tasks according to standard procedures and instructions while promoting the well-being of all people of Southern NM through community health and social services.

Job Requirements:

Must pass a criminal background check; maintain a current driver's license, current automobile insurance, and maintain a clean driving record.

POSITION SUMMARY
Under direct clinical supervision of the Dentist, a DentalAssistant performs non-professional work assisting the Dentist during examination and treatment of patients and in the routine handling of instruments and supplies.

Specialty DentalAssistants If dentalassistant is assigned within specialty areas including: Endodontics, Oral Surgery, Orthodontics, Periodontics or Pediatric, they will primarily be supporting clinicians within that specialty and may be required to have additional training.
Responsibilities
Perform functions in accordance with the applicable state's Dental Auxiliaries Table of Permitted Duties.
Actively participate in the PPE by striving to keep your patients focused on optimal treatment while attending to their individual needs and concerns.
Escort patients to/from the front desk and introduce them to other team members as appropriate.
Communicate with the front and back office teams to ensure the Orthodontists schedule runs smoothly and efficiently.
Maintain a clean, sterile, and cheerful environment.
Sterilize and disinfect instruments and equipment; clean each operatory in accordance with the state applicable infection control guidelines.
Prepare patients for treatment and assist the dentist- thereby enabling them to provide efficient, quality dental treatment.
At the direction of the clinician, complete radiographs and intra-oral pictures of patients in an efficient and timely manner.
Prepare tray setups for dental procedures and maintain adequate supply levels in each operatory, replenishing as needed to provide efficient patient care.
Keep the patients' mouths dry and clear by using suction or other devices.
Instruct patients on postoperative and general oral health care as directed by the clinician.
Record patient charting and all the clinician's notes in the digital patient chart as directed by the clinician.
Support patient care by presenting treatment record, consents and health history to clinician prior to patient treatment.
Ensure equipment is maintained according to manufacturer's guidelines.
Work closely with Lead DentalAssistant to ensure adequate clinical supplies are on hand.
Utilize technology by learning how to operate and give explanation/demonstration of how to operate to others.

A. Position Summary
Under general supervision, provides a range of clinical, administrative, and staff support to a full-range dental services operation. Exposes and processes dental radiographs in accordance with provider orders; assists in the monitoring and maintenance of radiation safety procedures and protocols.
Follows and maintains all relevant federal, state, and institutional regulations, guidelines, policies, and standards for the provision of dental clinical services.
Orders and maintains inventories of dental clinic supplies.
Interacts with and processes dental clinic patients; performs telephone triage, conducts patient interviews, and obtains prior approvals from third party payors.
Maintains dental laboratory slips and creates and maintains dental records in accordance with established protocol and procedures.
Prepares instruments for sterilization and storage in trays.
Educates patients based on a sound knowledge of prevention and control of oral diseases; uses various teaching aids to effectively present the information to patients.
Inventories and orders materials and supplies for the dental clinic.
Contacts patients by telephone for return visits.
Takes and pours up dental impressions under direction of a dentist.
Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

C. MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High School graduate or GED certificate required.
Graduation from an ADA recognized certificate program is preferred.
Bi-lingual English/Spanish is preferred.

Active license from NM Board of Dental Healthcare with certification required in:

UNM Medical Group, Inc. is hiring for a Medical Assistant to join our Cancer Center. This opportunity is a full-time day shift opening located in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Sign-On Bonus - $2,000
Minimum $38,948 - Midpoint $47,818*
*Salary is determined based on years of total relevant experience.
*Salary is based on 1.0 FTE (full time equivalent) or 40 hours per week. Less than 40 hours/week will be prorated and adjusted to the appropriate FTE.
Summary:
Provides direct service to patients in a UNMMG Ambulatory Clinic, including registration, demographic verification, and appointment scheduling.
Handles insurance-related tasks such as verifying benefits, obtaining referrals, and managing prior authorizations.
Conducts patient check-in/check-out, collects co-pays, and gathers patient data and medical history.
Minimum Job Requirements of a Medical Assistant:
High school diploma or GED and
Medical Assistant Program Graduate Certificate and
If applicable; current Registered Medical Assistant (RMA), Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) or Certified Medical Assistant (CMA)
BLS certification
Verification of education and licensure (if applicable) will be required if selected for hire.
