Incumbent will also perform miscellaneous field duties, including maintenance and repair of underground and auxiliary equipment. This position works under direct supervision of the Supervising Building Services Engineer and general supervision of the Manager of Engineering Trades/Chief Engineer. OperatingEngineers work shifts, day, swing, and/or graveyard, including weekends, providing continuous twenty-four-hour coverage, seven days per week.

This role will record data, such as the temperature of equipment, hours of operation, water and air pressure, water levels, voltage loads, and static pressure. Adjusts manual or overrides automatic controls to bring equipment into recommended or prescribed operating ranges. Visually inspects equipment at regular intervals to identify malfunctions or necessary repairs.
Required Qualifications
High School/GED (degree must be conferred on or before agreed upon start date)
Four (4) years of physical plant operations and maintenance experience.
Certifications, Registrations, and/or Licenses:
Active City of Tulsa First Class Limited Engineers License
Or Unlimited Mechanical Journeyman License
Or equivalent experience and ability to obtain Licensure
Valid Oklahoma Driver's License.

Under the general supervision of the Assistant Director of Facilities Management and the immediate supervision of the Supervising Building Service Engineer, maintains, services, repairs, and inspects heating, ventilating, mechanical, and air conditioning systems, and the mechanical, plumbing, electrical and electronic systems associated with the decentralized utilities centers located throughout the campus and the Central Plant facility.
Key Responsibilities
* Responsible for operating, maintaining, repairing and inspecting heating, air conditioning, water treatment and ventilating equipment (i.e. boilers, chillers, condensers, compressors, circulating water pumps, blower vans, valves, ducting, gauge).
* Tests and adjusts, as required, chemically treats boiler hot water, chilled water, condenser and cooling tower water and other systems as needed.
* Maintains and inspect, diagnoses and makes emergency repairs to steam, natural gas, water, air and oil distribution systems.
* Will be called upon to periodically adjust air handling equipment to achieve air flow, temperature and humidity balances for individual rooms, building area or buildings.
* Repairs and replaces bearing, shafts, seals, rings, and electrical wiring and installs mechanical system parts, gauges, valves, and pipes which require the application of skills and knowledge equivalent to the journey level in one or more of the basic trades worked.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
The ideal candidate possesses a strong working knowledge of HVAC systems for both central and decentralized building plants, as well as expertise in building temperature control systems including electric, electronic, and pneumatic controls.
