The Orthopedic Patient Care Technician or Medical Assistant will provide patient-centered care and assignments for patients under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in the clinic. Tasks that are delegated to the PCT or MA may include:
Recording vital statistics and other basic data collection
Administer basic health care and medical treatments
Select point of care testing and/or collection of non-invasive specimen collection
Clean and stock treatment and/or exam rooms
Prepare patient treatment areas for use
Prepare and clean medical equipment
Perform clerical work related to scheduling and documenting patient healthcare
Adheres to and promotes the established values of the organization
Strong communication, customer service, multi-tasking, and organizational skills are needed on a daily basis.
Hours/Shifts
72 hours biweekly, day shifts
Compensation
Please note that final compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications and internal equity considerations.
PCT Hourly Wage Range: $18.53-$23.73
MA Hourly Wage Range: $22.65-$28.99

Education/Special Skills:
High school diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED).
Understanding of healthcare, anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, and medical equipment and supplies.
Obtains and subsequently maintains required department specific competencies and certification.
Proficient verbal and written communication skills.
Current Healthcare Provider level CPR certification upon hire or must be obtained within six months.
Successful completion of the pre-employment health screening.
Reliable attendance and ability to work at the clinic site as scheduled, including travel to other clinic sites.
Ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing.

For Medical Assistant applicants:

Gather all necessary and appropriate information from a caller and relay information to the appropriate provider for necessary follow-up.
Inform reception desk of provider's schedule status and assist in coordination of urgent and non-urgent provider schedule changes to ensure patient and provider needs are met.
Perform patient correspondence when requested and assist patients in completing forms when appropriate.
Prepare and sterilize instruments and equipment according to procedure and OSHA standards.
Complete scheduled cleaning requirements for designated work areas. Document completion of work to comply with infection control and OSHA standards
Implement other infection control procedures as needed and adhere to protective clothing requirements.
Ensure clinic supplies are adequately stocked and well organized. Process and deliver department inventory requests in a timely manner. Routinely check expiration dates and remove or replace outdated supplies.
Maintain prescription sample supply cabinet as per clinic protocol
Ensure all equipment is properly maintained and adequate records are kept. Ensure inventory of instruments and equipment is current. Ensure instruments and equipment are calibrated as needed and maintained in proper working order.

Seek medical and/or nursingassistance when encountering an acutely ill patient or a patient with a changing condition.
Prepare exam rooms and treatment rooms and set up for procedures. Assist provider as needed.
Prepare the patient for medical interventions.
Prepare charts and records for appointments as indicated by the type of clinic visit according to established practices.
Check MSRs for completion and route appropriately.
Prepare lab, x-ray and miscellaneous forms as requested
Process drug refills according to clinic protocols
Monitor station logs as assigned.
Facilitate timely and accurate flow of communication within the clinic/location.
Accurately receive and relay messages and test results to the appropriate person/location in a manner consistent with clinic practices and/or standards.
Gather all necessary and appropriate information from a caller and relay information to the appropriate provider for necessary follow-up.
Inform reception desk of provider's schedule status and assist in coordination of urgent and non-urgent provider schedule changes to ensure patient and provider needs are met.
Perform patient correspondence when requested and assist patients in completing forms when appropriate.
Prepare and sterilize instruments and equipment according to procedure and OSHA standards.
Complete scheduled cleaning requirements for designated work areas. Document completion of work to comply with infection control and OSHA standards
Implement other infection control procedures as needed and adhere to protective clothing requirements.
Ensure clinic supplies are adequately stocked and well organized. Process and deliver department inventory requests in a timely manner. Routinely check expiration dates and remove or replace outdated supplies.
Maintain prescription sample supply cabinet as per clinic protocol
Ensure all equipment is properly maintained and adequate records are kept. Ensure inventory of instruments and equipment is current. Ensure instruments and equipment are calibrated as needed and maintained in proper working order.
