Overview

Responsibilities
Maintain accurate records, statistics, and adequate supply levels for the Ultrasound Section
Perform a full range of ultrasound exams, including procedural scans
Evaluate and recommend updates to ultrasound policies, procedures, and protocols
Instruct and support students during clinical procedures
Deliver age-appropriate care for patients ranging from neonates to geriatrics
Communicate effectively with healthcare team members to ensure continuity of care
Support departmental goals through professional conduct and resource awareness

Perform a full range of diagnostic ultrasonic examinations including but not limited to: obstetrical sonography, including imaging of all fetal anatomy in order to obtain accurate dating and growth parameters and evaluate for fetal abnormalities and problems with the pregnancy; pelvic sonography, including imaging of all pelvic anatomy to attain accurate assessment of suspected pathology; and endovaginal sonography exams to obtain accurate assessment of suspected pelvic pathology; abdominal sonography to include all major organs and systems of the abdomen; small parts sonography to include scans of the breast, thyroid and testicles; and limited vascular sonography to include carotid, aortic and lower extremity venous duplex scans.
**ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES**
+ Receive patients, explain procedures, and provide appropriate care. Correctly position the patient for the examination and make adjustments necessary for the required examination. Determine if any special patient preparation is required.
+ Operate ultrasound scanners. Operate the linear, sector, and endovaginal probes as well as pulse and color Doppler capabilities of provided scanners.
+ Performs numerous complex sonographic scanning on all anatomical areas for in-utero, neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients. Assists radiologist and/or other physicians in performing invasive diagnostic techniques such as biopsies, aspirations and intraoperative localization of lesions, or other similar procedures.
+ Identify abnormalities during testing and determine need for additional scans of affected area.
+ Recognize anatomic variants and determine which other area(s) of the body should be scanned.
+ Use a detailed understanding of diseases of anatomy to accomplish effective ultrasound scanning.
+ Advise the physician of results of the examination and provide them with a preliminary diagnosis.
+ Stock and maintain an adequate level of supplies required to ultrasound examinations.
+ Recommend necessary repairs when diagnostic quality is degraded.
+ Make minor adjustments on equipment. Differentiate artifacts from normal or pathological processes and recognize electronic equipment limitations. Program the examination equipment, set up the machine and scanning techniques to be employed.
+ Recognize the need for and institute the necessary emergency measures for situations where a person requires resuscitation procedures due to cardiac or respiratory arrest.
+ Notify physician of significant scans requiring immediate attention.
+ Maintain and clean ultrasound equipment on a regular basis in accordance with department standards.
+ Maintain regular and punctual attendance.

**MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS**
+ Current registration as a Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) or American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
+ A minimum of one (1) year of full-time experience within the last 2 years in a setting corresponding to the requirements of the task order.

Job Description
Ansible Government Solutions, LLC (Ansible) is currently recruiting for Ultrasound (US) Technologists to support the VA Greater Los Angeles Healthcare System located at 11301 Wilshire Boulevard, Los Angeles, CA 90073, and potentially at any of its surrounding clinics. Ultrasound Technologists shall have in depth knowledge of ultrasound scanning and optimizing examination potential. The technologists shall collect and communicate all pertinent clinical information to the Radiologist. The technologists shall explain exams to the patients as well as proper patient preparation requirements. The technologists shall also work closely with other department technologists and continue quality improvement activities on a daily basis. Available shift schedules include days, evenings, and nights. Responsibilities
Maintains in depth knowledge of ultrasound scanning and optimizing examination potential
Collects and communicates all pertinent clinical information to the Radiologist
Explains exams to the patients as well as proper patient preparation requirements
Works closely with other department technologists and continues quality improvement activities on a daily basis
Sets up radiographic suites and ensures that sterile supplies, contrast materials, catheters, and other required equipment/supplies are present and available
Prepares and administers contrast material orally, by enema, or under close supervision of radiologists, intravenously but not independently; as required by procedure or patient's condition, monitors vital signs (blood pressure and heart rate), and reports any significant changes to a radiologist
Lifts, positions, pushes, and transfers patients, supplies, and/or equipment as needed
Performs related clerical duties such as sending images to PACS, archiving images, and case editing of computer requests and reports
As required, maintains records and enters patient information into the computer through the use of the Radiology Veterans Information Systems and Technology Architecture (VISTA) package
Qualifications
English language proficiency
Registered or registry eligible in Sonography by the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS), shall have a minimum of two (2) years of work experience in the specialized modality and shall be able to work with minimal or no supervision
Note - Student internship and training time spent in a radiology setting does not count toward the two (2) years of experience
Experience with Picture Archiving Communication System (PACS), experience with Agfa PACS is preferred but not required
American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required

Pay Range: $43.43 - $58.00 hourly

Responsibilities
Independently operates equipment to perform a variety of complex sonographic examinations ranging from routine to highly specialized
Reviews requisitions to assure that the patient history and anatomical area of interest is consistent with the exam(s) requested; examinations performed includes abdomen for tumors, cysts, abscesses, hematomas, inflammatory lesions, and the size and location of organs; evaluations of the abdominal aorta for aneurysm and/or dissection, and chest exams for pleural effusions will also be performed
Conducts neck, carotid artery, leg vein, and artery examinations
Also assists Radiologists during invasive procedures and performs all types of gynecological ultrasound exams
Performs quantitative Doppler measurements to determine blood flow profiles when indicated
Must have knowledge of appropriate use of color flow/power Doppler to further evaluate areas for vascular patency/pattern
Qualifications
Have a current and valid ARDMS license and required to be licensed in Abdomen or RVT.
Maintain current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) as certified by the American Heart Association
Minimum of two years of experience in diagnostic medical sonography
