Demonstrate sound business judgement, when collecting and analyzing data to make informed decisions. Experienced in approving or denying loan applications within loan approval authority, bank policies and guidelines. Be an engaged participant as a voting member on a regional loan committee. Learn and comply with internal controls, operational procedures, and risk management policies, including regular audits and internal loan reviews. Collaborate with your team, other bank divisions, and bank leadership to develop, monitor, and achieve branch and regional goals. Portfolio Manager Overview
Portfolio Manager (“PM”) is responsible for maintaining and monitoring existing commercial loan portfolio and work closely with the SRM who owns the relationship of these accounts. PM is expected to maintain close contact with these clients and leverage the relationship to identify and bring in additional new business opportunities, both in loans and Bank's other products and services. PM is expected to provide “best-in-class” service to these loan clients while following established Bank's policies and procedures.
Essential Functions
PM is to work closely with SRM(s) and Team Managers on the assigned loan portfolio by monitoring and managing the credit quality of such portfolio.
Review to ensure each credit is properly risk rated based on the Bank's risk rating system.
Maintain and grow existing client relationships, cross-sell Bank's other products and services.
Specifically accountable for credit underwriting and origination of new credits from the existing client base, portfolio monitoring, renewals, amendments and annual reviews.
Work with designated underwriter, loan assistants and other loan support staff to prepare the Credit Commitment Report (“CCR”).
Reviews client's accounts and portfolios in order to identify, evaluate and determine the appropriate course of action on potential credit quality issues in order to maximize credit quality and minimize risk and potential loss to the Bank.
Ensure compliance with Bank, regulatory and credit requirements with emphasis on best-in-class customer service while adhering to required timeframes from the client.
Qualifications
Education: U.S. College graduate with major in related fields, strongly preferred.
Experience:
5-7 years of loan account relationship management experience, credit underwriting experience or a combination of both. Thorough knowledge of lending regulations and credit/underwriting practices.
Must have strong loan portfolio management experience.
Must possess strong loan negotiation (rates, terms, collateral requirements) experience.
Must possess previous underwriting experience in the requisite area of commercial lending.
Must have extensive knowledge and understanding of Bank's credit policy, risk management, underwriting requirements and loan servicing.
Must have strong knowledge and understanding of commercial and specialty group banking products and services and have demonstrated ability to cross-sell such products.
Skills/Ability: PC proficient. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Bilingual (English/Mandarin or Cantonese) a plus but not required. Ability to work well independently to restructure loans and/or lines of credits. Must be organized and detail oriented and able to multi-task. Ability to work effectively in a fast paced, high production and team environment. Excellent time management skills and be accustomed to working with deadlines. Ability to assume responsibility and accountability for decision-making. Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of Bank personnel.
Other Details

Overview

Business Tax Advisory functions as a national tax office for HBK providing industry-leading consulting, tax planning, and continuing education services for the entire firm. HBK's BTA members are seasoned tax professionals with deep experience in consulting with business owners, families, and other organizations to minimize taxes while always focusing on meeting client objectives.
QUALIFICATIONS
One of the following is a must: Juris Doctor with a focus in Taxation, an LL.M. in Taxation, Master's in taxation, or similar degree and CPA

The Role at a Glance:
Lead and manage a retail branch to ensure that established production goals for deposits, fee income, loan production and other corporate goals, as assigned, are met or exceeded and customer service in the branch is conducted in accordance with the Heritage Bank Service Standards.
Lead and manage sales for the branch including mentoring and training branch staff in using standard relationship selling techniques to grow existing relationships and gain new customer relationships. Proactively execute and lead business development efforts. Build and maintain professional working relationships with all lines of business to ensure customer relationship building is taking place through cross selling efforts and referrals.
Develop, implement and monitor the annual and quarterly business plans, including sales goals, income, and expense strategies to ensure maximum profitability for the branch. Provide leadership in communicating the bank's overall strategy.
Actively lead and train staff to ensure branch consistently adheres to all regulatory compliance standards, internal operational and credit controls and follows all operating policies and procedures. Ensure audit, security and compliance issues and/or concerns are addressed and resolved in a timely manner. Act as a liaison between branch and support departments.
Develop skills of staff through goal-setting, coaching, problem resolution, delegation, training, counseling, and performance management.
Resolve escalated customer questions and/or concerns in a timely manner to maintain optimal branch performance in service quality, accuracy, efficiency, and manage risk prudently. Make and approve policy and procedure exceptions within assigned limits.
Work collaboratively with Retail Management and Human Resources to recommend staffing levels and approve personnel actions such as hiring, terminations, promotions, transfers, timely performance reviews and salary increases, in accordance with legal and acceptable Bank personnel practices.
Maintain in-depth knowledge of all Bank's products and services. Ensure successful implementation of marketing and promotional programs in the branch. Take leadership in rolling out new products and services.

Position Overview:
Heritage Bank has an exciting opportunity to join our organization! We are seeking an experienced commercial banking officer to join our Bellevue Commercial team. This position provides a full range of commercial banking services, including developing new business and client relationships; producing a variety of commercial loans; generating and managing a portfolio of business and corresponding relationships; seeking new accounts through calling efforts, marketing, and referrals; as well as coordinating the cross-sale and delivery of bank products and services to clientele while serving as a trusted advisor. This position will also have responsibility for underwriting, structuring, and closing commercial loans that meet established lending requirements and maximizes profitability to the Bank with minimal risk. Depending on level of position, may have responsibility to develop, train, coach, and motivate less experienced bankers to achieve the Bank's loan goals.
This position is fully on-site in Bellevue, Washington.
The successful candidate will be able to:
Establish and service a sound loan portfolio by cultivating new and expanding existing business through an effective calling program. Regularly achieve and/or exceed agreed-upon benchmarks and annual goals.
Build solid, profitable relationships with clients/prospects characterized by mutual respect, understanding and trust. Work to establish his/her role as a trusted financial advisor.
Evaluate the overall resources and capabilities of the client/prospect's business, considering current industry dynamic, financial and operational strategy, economic conditions and market trends and prioritizes client/prospect opportunities.
Analyze client/prospect needs, and recommends appropriate solutions that match those needs, consistent with the Bank's credit culture, and maximizes Heritage Bank's profitability and shareholder value.
Analyze and screen loan requests. Negotiate terms/conditions, structure loan financing based on risk considerations consistent with Bank policy and Asset/Liability guidelines; approve loans within assigned lending limits; and/or prepare/ present credits outside lending limits for approval to appropriate levels of authority, as required.
Foster and maintain cohesive partnerships and working relationships with all lines of business within the Bank to build a trusted and productive sales and service referral process.
Effectively evaluate and manage each client relationship and transaction for financial and credit risk and potential loss to the Bank, ensuring adequate safeguards and monitoring of accounts. Ensures collateral, routinely reviews cash-flow and ensures standards and loan terms are met on an ongoing basis.
Proactively leverage ideas, insights, and relationships to generate new and incremental loan and deposit business for Heritage Bank; utilizes existing client/prospect base and network of clients/prospects referral sources and means of improving client acquisition and retention.
Ensure timely and thorough monitoring of all credits through periodic reviews, continued analysis, proper credit quality grading, and proper documentation. Maintains ongoing contact with client to be kept current on significant changes in financial condition or operations. Remedy loan deficiencies where appropriate, including loans out of compliance with borrower's loan agreement, or out of formula with borrowing base.
Prepare and present all required and requested loan reports in a timely manner.
Monitor the performance of the borrower over the life of the loan. Able to recognize developing problems and bringing them to the attention of management. For troubled credits, assist in developing a strategy to return the credit to a pass rating or exit strategy.
Comply with government regulations by maintaining an up-to-date knowledge of commercial law, UCC, and banking regulations/policy to assure conformity with required laws and terms.
Maintain an awareness of competitive products, practices, rates and changes in the local market.
Ensures Bank activities are performed in compliance with the Bank's Policies and Standards, in partnership with Enterprise Risk Management and other internal banking partners.
Represent the Bank in the local community through proactive participation in community, charitable, business and social activities to allow for maximum client and customer contact.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Accounting or Marketing - preferred.
Level II - 5+ years of commercial banking experience providing financial expertise, counsel and customized solutions to business clients; advanced knowledge of commercial real estate and C&I lending practices - preferred. Must have excellent business development skills with proven success in prospecting and building relationships to enhance commercial loan opportunities and entrusted to make quality credit decisions.
Level III - 8+ years of progressively responsible commercial lending experience providing financial expertise, counsel and customized solutions to business clients with proven experience successfully managing complex commercial banking relationships required. Advanced knowledge of credit underwriting, loan structuring, credit/credit quality and commercial real estate and C&I lending practices required.
