Title: Mental Health Specialist Department: School Counseling Building/Facility: District-wide Reports to: Superintendent or Superintendent's designee Employment Status: Regular/Full-Time FLSA Status: Not Eligible for Overtime Description: The Mental Health Specialist provides case management, diagnostic assessments, and therapeutic intervention services to address student needs that are consistent with the district's mission and mandated requirements.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
* Exhibit professional behavior, emotional stability and sound judgment.
* Respond appropriately to crisis situations (i.e. emergencies, employee/parent concerns)
* Provides emergency consultation as needed. Facilitates parent, student, and staff involvement in decision-making activities.
* Conducts risk assessments and lethality screeners.

* Direct the implementation of federal and state law for education of students with special needs.
* Complete diagnostic assessments for identified students.
* Provides individual, group, and family counseling services.
* Facilitates the implementation of behavior invention plans as part of the IEP process.
* Instructs teachers in mental health issues that may impact school success.
* Provides assistance to help parents improve parenting skills.
* Serves as a member of the IEP team as needed.
* Serves as a resource for RTI teams, attending meetings when needed.
* Coordinates mental health services for District students with outside mental health providers (counselors, psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers).
* Collaborates with staff to implement behavior improvement plans. Counsels students to acknowledge and manage responsible personal conduct.
* Provides ongoing communication and support for teachers. Shares knowledge and resources that enhance student learning.
* Serves as a resource for drug prevention awareness and intervention activities.
* Consults with parents as needed (e.g., telephone calls, messages, meetings, etc.).
* Coordinate activities between the school district and outside agencies.
* Monitor the progress of students receiving services provided by or coordinated by the district.
* Attend student conferences as needed.
* Advise all personnel on rules and regulations regarding all programs that relate to non-academic barriers.
* Provide in-service for personnel.
* Respond to routine questions and requests in an appropriate manner.
* Cooperate with superintendent in the development and implementation of administrative and board policies.
* Make contacts with the public with tact and diplomacy.
* Maintain respect at all times for confidential information.
* Interact in a positive manner with staff, students, and parents.
* Outstanding attendance and punctuality.
* Promote good public relations by personal appearance, attitude, and conversation.

Minimum Qualifications

* Valid Ohio social worker or counselor license (e.g., LSW, LISW, LPC, LPCC, etc.).
* At least three years of social work, counseling, or related experience.
* Training and/or experience in behavioral management techniques.
* Alternative to the above qualifications as the superintendent and/or board of education may find appropriate.

The Mental Health Counselor - Outreach Services will provide trauma-informed, wellness-focused support to individuals and families experiencing homelessness. The Behavioral Health Clinician provides high-quality behavioral healthcare as a collaborative primary care team member focused on short-term episodes of care, skill-based counseling, and coordination/outreach. This position works with a majority adult patient population.
We are offering a $7,500 sign-on/retention bonus for this position. *The bonus is available for external hires only, and certain conditions apply.
This is a full-time, 40-hour/week benefitted position located at our Lebanon campus. Once oriented to the position, it will be a hybrid position, working three days a week in the office and two days a week remotely. We anticipate spending the first four to six months on-site while orienting to the position before moving to a hybrid schedule.
Responsibilities
As a licensed independent mental health clinician works with the Primary Care team to address the behavioral health needs of patients in primary care utilizing the Collaborative Care model of integrated care, which includes consults, short-term counseling, care coordination, outreach and data collection.
Partners with PCP teams to systematically screen and assess for opiate misuse and other substance use disorders. Conduct triage visits and/or initial evaluations to help clarify behavioral health concerns and develop an individualized, appropriate care plan.
Enrolls patients referred by the PCP into the collaborative care program, which includes both in person and telephone outreach visits for a short-term episode of care, up to 12 weeks duration.
Utilizes evidence-based clinical procedures to deliver care in a standardized format and measure patient's symptoms and response to treatment through questionnaires and survey tools.
Effectively maintains and manages a patient registry to track patients, monitor progress and report program focused metrics.
Provides limited face-to-face, short-term counseling including; problem-solving therapy, brief CBT, motivational interviewing or brief supportive therapy.
Proactively communicates with patients, primary care team members and the consulting psychiatrist to aid in effective, patient-centered, team-based care.
Assists patients in need of higher levels or care, specialty mental health or substance use services, outside of primary care, to connect with appropriate treatment resources.
Performs other duties as required or assigned.
Supports the department's educational and workforce development mission by providing supervision and learning opportunities for trainees in mental health fields. This may include supervising student internships and/or providing clinical supervision toward licensure for master's prepared clinicians.
Qualifications
Master's degree in Social Work, Mental Health Counseling, Marriage & Family Counseling/Therapy, or Addiction Counseling from an accredited institution of higher education, including an internship meeting professional standards.
Must be able to demonstrate that he or she has provided psychological services, on an inpatient, outpatient or consultative basis in the past 12 months

Interview litigants and their children, assess parental functioning and parent/child relationships utilizing clinical techniques with a focus on family dynamics and child development issues. Document communication between family members. Gather pertinent collateral information from community resources such as therapists, medical providers, and schools. Collect and synthesize data to generate comprehensive, well-written recommendations for judicial officers to assist in resolving cases. The primary role of the Behavioral Health Clinician is to provide high quality diagnostic assessment for clients in Homefull programs. The Behavioral Health Clinician should function as part of the team in the programs to which they are assigned, and collaborate with case management & supervisory staff to meet the mental health needs of the clients, in order to increase client stability and success in housing.
Summary of Essential Job Functions
The Behavioral Health Clinician will be responsible for:
-completing diagnostic assessments for clients to aid in housing and service referral;
-assisting clients in a behavioral health crisis;
-functioning as part of the Medicaid team and as directed by the Clinical Director, provide support to staff providing CPST services;
-completing high quality clinical documentation at the time of services, meeting all compliance documentation requirements;
-submitting Medicaid reimbursed services to help meet financial goals;
-complete all documentation following agency policies and procedures;
-providing clinical training to case management and assessment staff as assigned by Clinical Director and/or executive team;
-participating in ongoing education and training to develop professional skills and maintain licensure;
-ability to travel to Homefull sites both in Montgomery County and Franklin County to meet clients and consult with staff;
-other duties as assigned that help meet the mission and vision of Homefull and the needs of clients.
Minimum Requirements
Master's degree and/or license in social work required with independent Ohio licensure (LSW or LISW) to provide diagnostic and therapy services as well as approve Medicaid reimbursed services.
