ABOUT THE JOB: The Residential Specialist position is responsible for working with multi-disciplinary teams that provide services to adult clients with serious mental illness/co-occurring addiction issues who are most at risk of hospitalization, civil commitment, or incarceration. This position has the ability to positively impact clients' lives by helping them to access the most appropriate level of residential support. GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES Mental Health Specialist 2: Provide assessments and treatment of individuals and families, including groups; provides crisis assessment and intervention services and related duties as required. Primary responsibility of this class is to provide assessment and treatment services; crisis intervention, and treatment services, including intensive services, to individuals and their families with complex needs and diagnoses and/or to develop and implement specific services in the community. Mental Health Specialist 1: Plans and carries out recreational, social and skills training activities; performs case management and counseling functions with Adults in Custody (AIC); facilitates counseling and/or skills training groups; performs related duties as required. Primary responsibility of this class is case management and counseling, without responsibility for developing and implementing specific programs in the community. ABOUT THE JOB: As a part of the Behavioral Health Specialist II, Child, Family & Young Adult Team, you will have the opportunity to provide various outpatient services to a diverse group of youth and young adults ages 0-25 and their families seeking both mental health and addiction services. This position works as part of an outpatient approach primarily from our Courtney Clinic in Bend. You will also work closely with other DCBH team members including psychiatrists, case managers, peer support specialists, and other group facilitators, Wraparound care coordinators, and community partners, schools, Child Welfare, and Juvenile Justice. Services will be provided face-to-face, via video, and over the phone with clients. Typical schedule is Monday through Friday, 8AM to 5PM, though an adjusted work schedule can be discussed. This position is primarily located in Bend, however, travel to locations in Deschutes County may be required to meet department needs. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Individual Counseling: Provide trauma-informed, individual counseling to clients regarding mental health symptom management, substance use, personal and situational stressors, relationships, suicide, and other risk concerns utilizing psychoeducational and evidence-based counseling practices. Assist clients with learning, identifying, and practicing healthy coping skills. Referring clients to resources or outside community services. Maintaining helpful relationships with support networks, government resources, and community resources. Assist individuals with the resources needed to reach treatment goals. Provide feedback-informed counseling using agency approved tools Participate in outreach activities necessary to offer services and engage participation in a non-coercive manner. Escort clients to meetings and appointments as necessary. Assessment and Care Planning Collect information regarding clients' history through a combination of interviewing, records review, and consultation, after obtaining written consent. Conduct and document substance use assessments, including mental status exam, ASAM level of care, DSM diagnosis, and clinical formulation. Develop care plan with client. Monitor client progress and adjust their care plan as needed. Risk Assessment, evaluation and mitigation Provide crisis intervention which may include: counseling, supporting client with de-escalating, performing risk assessments, supporting with safety planning, and referring clients to the ED or other sub-acute facilities. Evaluate clients for risk of harm using agency approved tools, document identified risks including plans to mitigate. May include initiating Directors Custody transport holds when appropriate. Assess, triage and respond to psychiatric and substance abuse crisis in the community in the most effective, efficient, safe manner possible. Participate in admission and discharge planning for any client needing hospitalization or subacute level of care. Client contact must be made within one working day of admission. Multidisciplinary Teamwork Participate in clinical staff meetings and case conferences with team members in order to utilize interdisciplinary expertise and facilitate individual treatment plans for clients. Share mental health and addictions expertise by working collaboratively with the multidisciplinary treatment team, modeling integrated treatment skills and training other staff in evidence based principles and practice. Monitor and assure that the health and safety needs of clients are met. Quickly and accurately assess the needs of individual clients and potential barriers to service. Utilize Evidence-based Practices in work with clients in individual and group formats. Utilize Motivational Interviewing and IDDT treatment modalities to identify stages of change and develop corresponding stage wise treatment strategies. Maintain client records as required by State, Federal, local and program standards and funding requirements. Must maintain documentation expectations set by agency. Works within scope of training and experience and seeks consultation when appropriate. Participate in regular supervision activities, seeking additional supervision whenever necessary. Minimum requirement two hours of documented supervision per month. Attend required meetings and trainings. Attend all mandatory CCC trainings in a timely manner. Adhere to all state and federal privacy regulations, including HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2, and to CCC policies and agreements regarding confidentiality, privacy, and security. Support compliance with all privacy and security requirements pursuant to community partners' and outside providers' patient confidentiality agreements, including privacy and security requirements for EMR access. This includes immediately reporting any breach of protected health information or personal identification information of any person receiving CCC services by CCC or an outside provider to the CCC Compliance Department, as well as to your supervisor or their designee. DESCRIPTION OF OTHER DUTIES: Collaborate with Residential facilities, Adult Foster homes or other housing providers to provide necessary case management services and coordinate residential and non-residential treatment and service planning. Facilitate therapeutic process, psychoeducational, and/or activity groups for clients, utilizing evidence-based group practices. Provide testimony and advocacy with courts and other agencies. Coordinate services with all members of client's support network. Participate in training opportunities to advance skills and knowledge in addictions and mental health. The Behavioral Health Crisis Center (BHCC) is a 24\7 crisis facility that requires the support of temporary employees to provide coverage for all shifts due to staff time off, holidays, and unfilled positions. Wages: Mental Health Therapist 1: $29.54 - $39.58 hr. Mental Health Therapist 2: $35.83 - $48.00 hr. GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES Mental Health Therapist 2: Provide assessments and treatment of individuals and families, including groups; provides crisis assessment and intervention services and related duties as required. Primary responsibility of this class is to provide assessment and treatment services; crisis intervention, and treatment services, including intensive services, to individuals and their families with complex needs and diagnoses and/or to develop and implement specific services in the community. Mental Health Therapist 1: Plans and carries out recreational, social and skills training activities; performs case management and counseling functions with Adults in Custody (AIC); facilitates counseling and/or skills training groups; performs related duties as required. Primary responsibility of this class is case management and counseling, without responsibility for developing and implementing specific programs in the community. SUPERVISION RECEIVED Mental Health Therapist 2 and 1: Works under the supervision of a supervisor who assigns work, establishes goals, and reviews the results obtained for overall effectiveness. SUPERVISION EXERCISED Mental Health Therapist 2 and 1: Supervision of others is not a responsibility of positions in this classification. Crisis Clinician 2 may act as Clinical Supervisor designee when needed. May assist in the supervision of practicum students and/or volunteers. Typical Duties - Duties include, but are not limited to the following Counseling to Crisis Clients Provide counseling by telephone or in-person to individuals and/or their families or concerned others. GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES Mental Health Therapist 2: Provide assessments and treatment of individuals and families, including groups; provides crisis assessment and intervention services and related duties as required. Primary responsibility of this class is to provide assessment and treatment services; crisis intervention, and treatment services, including intensive services, to individuals and their families with complex needs and diagnoses and/or to develop and implement specific services in the community. Mental Health Therapist 1: Plans and carries out recreational, social and skills training activities; performs case management and counseling functions with Adults in Custody (AIC); facilitates counseling and/or skills training groups; performs related duties as required. Primary responsibility of this class is case management and counseling, without responsibility for developing and implementing specific programs in the community. SUPERVISION RECEIVED Mental Health Therapist 2 and 1: Works under the supervision of a supervisor who assigns work, establishes goals, and reviews the results obtained for overall effectiveness. SUPERVISION EXERCISED Mental Health Therapist 2 and 1: Supervision of others is not a responsibility of positions in this classification. Mental Health Therapist 2 may act as Clinical Supervisor designee when needed. May assist in the supervision of practicum students and/or volunteers. * Provides individual and family therapy to children, adolescents and transition age youth in Salem or Woodburn and the surrounding communities. * Provides intake mental health assessments including screening for alcohol and drug issues. * Documents services to meet contract, administrative rule and billing requirements. Expectation is that employee will strive for 30 hours per week to be scheduled with therapy, client support, committee work and approved training. * Provides consultation, training and orientation regarding mental health and co-occurring disorders treatment to team members, student interns and other professionals. * Provides case management services to clients. Assists clients and families with accessing community supports/resources. Assists with making referrals for services. * Provides services at various sites, so driving is required. * Performs other duties as assigned by the supervisor. PREFERENCES Preference will be awarded to candidates who are LCSW, CSWA or eligible for LCSW. Qualified candidates will be eligible for licensure supervision if hired.
