Key Responsibilities

About the Role
The Site Construction Engineer supports Project Managers on earthwork, grading, utility installation, and paving projects. Working closely with principal designers to assist in the development of Vertical Transportation design criteria.
Be able to work independently to solve vertical transportation project issues
Leading a vertical transportation project team in the development of conceptual design criteria, schematic design, detailed design, and construction documents.
Performing condition assessments and writing reports for Vertical Transportation equipment modernization.
Producing drawings and associated reports and assisting with the preparation of vertical transportation project specifications.
Inspecting installations and witness testing on site.
Developing vertical transportation design concepts, calculating number, size and speed of elevators for all types of buildings including high rise, ideally utilizing the Elevate software program
Designing and providing design feedback for elevators, escalators, and moving walkways. Retrofitting these into existing facilities with very congested existing systems and infrastructure.
Delivering vertical transportation solutions on major and/or complex projects, including for new construction, retrofitting equipment in existing facilities, and modernizing existing vertical transportation equipment.
There will be travel of up to 5-10% for field assessments. Travel could be anywhere in the US.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
* Bachelor's degree plus six (6) years of experience with vertical transportation or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
* Due to the nature of this role, United State Citizenship is required
Preferred Qualifications:
10 years of experience working with escalators, elevators and moving walkways
Possess an active Professional Engineering (PE) license and/or Qualified Elevator Inspector (QEI) certification
A strong analytical knowledge and understanding of engineering principles.

Independently performs, tests, inspects and records technical work of the highest degree of complexity. Plans and coordinates field construction observation activities and reviews the work of and provides mentoring of other inspectors. Serves as a liaison between the Project Owner, Contractor, and Professional Engineer having project oversight.
Reviews materials against specifications, prepares change orders, prepares and reviews contractor payment applications, and ensures that project records are being prepared in accordance with accepted standards.
A Resident Engineer must be able to fully express thoughts in writing and compile summary reports of other inspectors. Position will be primarily responsible for design to include the development and overseeing of CAD-generated construction plans for site civil projects.
Position requires the ability to work on a variety of projects, take direction from multiple supervisors, and coordinate with other staff.
Position requires working on projects likely to include conceptual and final engineering site design services for new facilities, site renovations, and expansions. Specifically, site geometry, grading, utility design, drainage/stormwater management design quantities & development of construction cost estimates, and feasibility studies.
You will have regular Interaction with regulatory agencies including local governments, USACE, FDEP, water management districts and utility providers.
This position will fall under our Infrastructure Market.
A Day in Life of a Site CivilDesign Technician at Hanson
Develop site civil construction plans utilizing AutoCAD Civil 3D software.
Aide in the training and the development of staff using site civil CAD applications.
Perform engineering calculations, utilize computer software for analysis and design, and collaborate efficiently with other team members for project completion.
Collaborate with Senior Technical Staff and Project Managers.
Other duties as assigned.
What We are Looking For - we feel the following qualifications would set you up for success in this role:
Technical Skills:
Proficient in AutoCAD/Civil 3D, Hydraflow, Vehicle Tracking, AutoTURN.
Willingness to learn related software for site civil, stormwater, transportation, and water/sewer systems design.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, Power Point and Teams.
Soft Skills - essential skill sets to succeed:
Work independently and as a team member to develop and present concepts.
Collaborate remotely with colleagues in other offices.
Build effective relationships with internal and external client bases.

Hourly rate for this position is $25 - $35 per hour depending on experience and technical skill level.
