Job Description
We are looking for a Counterintelligence Officer in the Counterintelligence Program to perform comprehensive research and analysis, conduct interviews, and present recommendations to senior management, high-level DOE personnel, and officials of intelligence agencies on relevant counterintelligence (CI) issues, ensuring the Laboratory's compliance with Department of Energy (DOE) Order 475.1 (CI Program).
This position will be filled at either level based on knowledge and related experience as assessed by the hiring team. Additional job responsibilities (outlined below) will be assigned if hired at the higher level.
This position offers a hybrid schedule, blending in-person and virtual presence. You will have the flexibility to work from home 1 day per week on non-Alternate Work Schedule work week.
You will
Conduct comprehensive complex, diverse, and multi-faceted CI/counterterrorism (CT) investigations.
Collect and review information from a variety of open and secure sources to assess and mitigate any CI/CT threats associated with foreign visits, travel, and contacts.
Produce detailed and accurate intelligence reports/records in appropriate intelligence databases, and investigative case files.
Conduct and present face-to-face briefings/debriefings and presentations to Laboratory personnel regarding hosting foreign nationals, foreign travel, and specific CI/CT risks/threats.
Participate in joint task forces and collaborations with internal Laboratory divisions, DOE Office of Intelligence and Counterintelligence (DOE IN), CI programs at other national laboratories, the United States Intelligence Community (USIC), and local law enforcement to address CI/CT issues.
Support all elements of the CI outreach program, including refining, developing, and presenting CI awareness and training material to all employees/members of the workforce.
Enter, retrieve, and manipulate information within Laboratory systems and DOE IN-20 CI analytical and investigative databases.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Additional job responsibilities, at the K03.3 level
Coordinate joint task forces and collaborations with internal Laboratory divisions, DOE IN, CI programs at other national laboratories, the USIC, and local law enforcement to address CI/CT issues.
Address novel CI/CT issues with little known precedence and prepare succinct recommendations for LLNL senior management on appropriate courses of action; develop innovative solutions to often unusually complex problems.
Provide guidance and direction to other program team members, plan and lead collaborative projects/investigations with peers and within the Laboratory, DOE IN, and the USIC.
Qualifications
This position requires the ability to secure and maintain an Department of Energy (DOE) Q-level clearance. Also, you must have the ability to obtain and maintain Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) access. Please note that your current active Q or Top Secret clearance with DOE or another agency does not guarantee DOE SCI access approval; if you are denied access, you may be subject to reinvestigation of your existing Q or Top Secret clearance.
Bachelor's Degree in a related field or equivalent combination of education and related experience.
Experience employing investigative procedures and techniques, including researching, interviewing, and documentation specifically concerning CI investigations.
Experience identifying foreign government missions, functions and collections processes, as well as U.S. methods of intelligence collection and dissemination.
Knowledge and experience working on national security issues related to the USIC.
Broad knowledge of, and significant experience with, classified and unclassified databases, software applications, and other intelligence research tools to identify and assess foreign capabilities using the conventional intelligence disciplines.
Specialized training and/or subject matter expertise, such as: counterespionage, interviewing, counterproliferation, weapons systems, and/or foreign intelligence services.
Working knowledge of automated business tools/technologies and specialized applications; expert knowledge of MS Office applications; and familiarity with the basic principles of hardware, software, and network systems.
Experience interpreting and applying knowledge of governmental and Laboratory policies, procedures, orders, and regulations.

Develop transportation system models into public‑facing software packages for broad research use.
Conduct data collection, cleaning, quality assurance, analysis, and model validation activities.
Develop and manage collaborations with researchers working on Transportation Systems at UC Berkeley, other national laboratories, and in the international research community.
Assist the PI in, and eventually act as PI in, developing grant proposals in the areas of integrated transportation modeling and simulation, travel behavior analysis, freight and supply chain efficiency and management, emissions modeling, and electrified transportation.

Bachelor's degree in surveying and mapping, civil engineering, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and at least five years of surveying experience.
Registration as a Licensed Surveyor (LS) or Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) in the state of California or reciprocity from another state or ability to obtain a California license within 24 months.
Strong knowledge of California land surveying laws, regulations, and best practices.
Proficient with modern survey technologies, including GPS, total stations, and surveying software (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil 3D, etc.)

We have multiple openings for undergraduate students to engage in practical research experience to further their educational goals. Work with scientists conducting research in experiments, theory or modeling simulation, and materials modelling.

Qualifications

You will
Evaluate and provide HP input on radiation safety policies and procedures that are complex and may not be well defined. Lead efforts to draft, review, and maintain related institutional documents and other contents.
Conduct assessments and audits necessary to comply with applicable regulatory requirements independently, with minimal direction. Lead audits, inspections and site verifications by internal and external entities.
Act as the point of contact (POC) for radiation protection program functional elements (e.g., contamination control, posting and labeling, radiation generating device, etc.). Lead the development and maintenance of associated program documents and processes, routinely interacting with professional colleagues, internal senior management, and sponsor organizations across and outside the Laboratory on advanced HP technical areas and projects/programs.
Provide guidance and clarification on a diverse range of complex issues and analyze & resolve radiation safety program implementation questions from field radiological control personnel on matters related to HP field operations.
Apply advanced technical knowledge to streamline processes.
Respond to radiological emergencies and incidents on site. Participate in event investigations and make recommendations to all levels of management to prevent recurrence.
Provide periodic support to Programmatic field operations.
Lead, develop, and present selected training courses in radiation safety (or related topics).

Qualifications
Ability to secure and maintain a U.S. DOE Q-level security clearance which requires U.S. citizenship.

We have an opening for a Counterintelligence (Cl) Analyst to perform complex research, analysis, and production of finished Cl products, including threat assessments and conducting interviews and ensuring Laboratory compliance with the Department of Energy (DOE) Order 475.1(Counterintelligence Program). You will outline and present recommendations to senior management, high-level DOE personnel and officials of intelligence community agencies on relevant Cl issues. You will
Conduct comprehensive research and analysis in support of diverse and multi-faceted Cl/CT investigations to include liaison with United States Intelligence Community (USIC) partners.
Collect, analyze and fuse disparate information from a variety of open and secure sources to conduct complex counterintelligence analysis.
Produce complex threat assessments and tactical/strategic intelligence products in support of DOE Counterintelligence Cl/CT missions to be used locally and at a national level.
Produce analytical products for Counterintelligence Officers in support of interviews and presentations to Laboratory personnel regarding hosting foreign nationals, foreign travel, and routine Cl/CT risks/threats.
Prepare responses to DOE Counterintelligence data calls, programmatic initiatives, plans and proposed policy changes.
Participate in joint task forces and collaborations with internal Laboratory organizations, DOE Office of Intelligence and Counterintelligence, national laboratories, the USIC, and local law enforcement.
Support all elements of the Cl outreach program, including refining, developing, and presenting Cl awareness and training material to all members of the workforce.
Enter, retrieve, and manipulate information within Laboratory systems and DOE Counterintelligence Directorate analytical and investigative databases.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Additional job responsibilities at the K02.3 level
Conduct briefings, debriefings and presentations regarding hosting foreign nationals, foreign travel and specific Cl/CT risks/threats to Laboratory personnel and senior managers.
Address novel Cl/CT issues with little known precedence and prepare succinct recommendations for LLNL senior management on appropriate courses of action; develop innovative solutions to often unusually complex problems.
Provide guidance and direction to other program team members, plan and lead collaborative projects with peers and within the laboratory, DOE Office of Intelligence and Counterintelligence, and the USIC.
Qualifications
This position requires the ability to obtain and retain an active Department of Energy (DOE) Q-level clearance or active Top Secret clearance issued by another U.S. government agency. Also, you must have the ability to obtain and maintain Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) access.

Job Description
We have an opening for an Engineered Safety Department Manager to lead the Engineered Safety Department at LLNL. In this role, you will provide day-to-day management and executive leadership of the functions, disciplines, and personnel within the Engineered Safety Department, which include Nuclear Safety, Packaging & Transportation, Safety Engineering, and Radiation Protection. You will provide strategic vision, organizational leadership, and technical judgment direction to meet the goals and objectives of Environment, Safety and Health (ES&H) Directorate customers and stakeholders. You will be a key member of the ES&H Directorate management team and will ensure that Engineered Safety programs at the Laboratory are effective, efficient, and compliant while enabling the safe execution of high-hazard, mission-critical work. This position is within the Environment Safety & Health (ES&H) Directorate.
This position may offer a hybrid schedule, which includes the flexibility to work from home one or more days per week, after a probationary period.
You will
Serve as an integral member of the ES&H Directorate management team to formulate and execute high-level strategy, set priorities, and steward resources to sustain and continuously improve the Laboratory's engineered safety capabilities.
Provide overall leadership, direction, and accountability for the Engineered Safety Department, consisting of four functional areas (Nuclear Safety, Packaging & Transportation, Safety Engineering, and Radiation Protection), approximately 110 employees, four direct reports, and an annual budget of approximately $20M.
Act as a senior advisor to Laboratory and Directorate leadership on engineered safety strategy, risk posture, and issue resolution across a broad and complex hazard portfolio.
Direct the development and implementation of integrated, risk-informed, and cost-effective solutions to highly complex or sensitive safety issues that span multiple organizations and mission programs.
Provide a high-level, interconnected understanding of engineered safety regulatory, contractual, and policy requirements to effectively engage with Laboratory operating organizations and the DOE Livermore Field Office (LFO) on interpretation, alignment, and resolution of complex issues.
Engage internal and external customers and stakeholders to ensure strong integration, shared accountability, and trusted partnerships that enable mission execution while strengthening safety performance.
Develop and maintain meaningful, data-driven performance measures that inform Laboratory decision makers and accurately reflect the health, capacity, and effectiveness of Engineered Safety programs.
Oversee department performance management, salary management, workforce planning, hiring, succession planning, and leadership development, while fostering a diverse, equitable, and inclusive work environment.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Active Department of Energy (DOE) Q-level clearance, or active Top-Secret clearance issued by another U.S. government agency, at the time of hire.
Bachelor's degree in nuclear, mechanical, chemical, electrical engineering, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and extensive relevant experience.
Extensive experience directing leadership and their teams in managing complex technical organizations, with demonstrated ability to maintain a strong safety culture in high-hazard or mission-driven environments.
Extensive knowledge of laws, regulations, and industry standards applicable to complex engineered safety programs, with the ability to interpret and apply requirements across diverse operations.
Extensive experience utilizing independent judgment for setting strategy, anticipating risks, resolving complex issues, and balancing safety, mission, cost, and schedule considerations.
Extensive experience in organizational leadership, including budgeting, workforce planning, performance management, and development of managers and senior technical staff.
Extensive experience with problem-solving and negotiation, requiring analytical, and decision-making skills necessary to address highly complex and sensitive issues impacting a large organization.
Highly effective communication, collaboration, facilitation, and influence skills across all organizational levels, including regulators and external stakeholders.
Qualifications We Desire
Advanced degree in engineering or related field and/or Professional Engineer (PE) license.
Experience with Department of Energy (DOE) Directives, Orders, and Prime Contract requirements applicable to engineered safety programs including engagement with DOE field offices, headquarters, or other external regulatory bodies on safety-related matters.
Experience operating in a national laboratory or research environment with complex, evolving mission demands and/or integrating safety programs across multiple hazard domains.
Experience collaborating across the DOE complex and with external partners to benchmark practices and drive continuous improvement.
Pay Range
$338,580 - $431,568 Annually

We have an opening for an Electrical Engineer to play a key role in advancing next‑generation weapons technologies in direct support of the nation's strategic deterrent. In this position, you will help mature critical technologies driving Application-Specific Integrated Circuits (ASIC) development, contribute to analog and digital design efforts, including verification and validation of complex mixed‑signal systems.
