Job Purpose:

**Position Purpose:**
Responsible for implementing a comprehensive project health and safety program. Will serve as a liaison between the company, project team, and subcontractors. Coordinates the project efforts to control or mitigate loss-producing conditions or injuries. Implement project policies and procedures necessary for safe operations.
**Primary Duties/Responsibilities:**
+ Implement training and orientation methods for the hazards to assist the project team in accepting, understanding and applying knowledge to their respective project activities, duties and responsibilities.

+ Assignments are in the form of broad goals or areas of responsibility with considerable latitude for decision making.
+ Significant independent action and judgment are required subject to general company policies.
+ Planning for the project execution is on an ongoing basis. Continually seeking new and improved methods to provide the most up to date project health and safety techniques and procedures.
+ Participate in project meetings, group discussions and make project presentations.
+ Provide training and/or orientation on project health and safety methods, policies and procedures.
**Work Environment:**
+ May be exposed to all types of external conditions associated with projects such as dirt, odors, noise, weather extremes and similar elements while providing safe operations.

**Qualifications**
**Education/Experience/Background:**

U.S. Pipe and Foundry is seeking a Safety Manager. The successful candidate will play a key role in assisting plant leadership in driving and creating a safe work environment for the facility. The candidate must be relocatable to Birmingham, Alabama.
Essential Responsibilities:
Develops and implements a system to monitor, evaluate and revise both site safety programs on an annual basis with special attention to the High-Risk Programs (LOTO, Hot Work, Confined Space, and Fall Protection) to ensure the safest work environment possible that is also compliant with all laws and regulations.
Facilitates plant housekeeping audits.
Performs Ergonomic assessment of plants and writes plans to reduce issues found in assessments.
Develops appropriate processes, conducts, and facilitates effective incident investigation activities and follow-up on “near-miss” events, property damage, and injuries.
Schedules, tracks, and ensures timely implementation of all Plant-wide regulatory required safety training.
Develops Safety Training Matrix.
Develops and implements effective systems for safety orientation for new and transferred employees as well as contractors.
Leads development and implementation of training.
Coordinates safety/Industrial Hygiene monitoring as required.
Responsible for PPE assessments for all jobs and effective communication of requirements.
Monitor ongoing compliance.
Oversees the Worker's Compensation program at plant level including reporting, reserve management, ongoing monitoring, restricted duty management and collaborate with the Occupational Nurse Manager on the medical management of claimants.
Maintains an effective communication process for all safety related functions including clear processes for emergency response, injury and near miss situations.
Leads and coordinates various safety meetings.
Skills & Other Requirements:
A bachelor's degree in Safety or Environmental is preferred, but not required.
The status of a Certified Safety Professional (CSP) is preferred, but not required.
5-7 years of safety and environmental experience outlining and implementing programs regarding employee safety procedures, practices, and accident protection and prevention in a heavy manufacturing industry.
At least 2-4 years' experience in a supervisory or managerial role as a safety professional.
Proven leadership others and self-direction is required.
Must have good oral and written communication skills.
Familiar with the operating characteristics of material handling equipment, crane operation, and capabilities.
Ability to supervise others and facilitate teamwork.
Familiar with OSHA regulations, personal protection equipment.
Familiar with developing and implementing safety programs and policies.
Strong knowledge of hazardous materials.
Familiar with safe practices and MSDS information.
Familiar with a variety of industrial safety concepts, practices, and procedures.
Strong knowledge of inspecting company facilities and recommending corrective actions to ensure compliance with established OSHA and EPA industry regulations.
Must have excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint software.

Purpose of the Job
As part of our ongoing commitment to operational excellence, we are seeking a dependable Environmental Health and Safety Manager to join our team and play a crucial role in our Field and Operations department.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
* Promotes a safe working environment for company employees in the field and the office;
* Continuously reviews Company safety plans, programs, policies, and procedures for consistency with relevant laws including but not limited to the Illness and Injury Prevention Plan. Prepares new or revises existing plans, programs, policies, and procedures, as needed. Monitors employee and contractor compliance with safety plans, policies, and procedures.
* Ensures employees have required Personal Protective Equipment, and trains staff on proper PPE use and good industrial hygiene practices (ergonomics, safe vehicle operation, etc.)
* Represents the company in safety matters with State and Federal agencies, including but not limited to OSHA inspections.
* Performs and coordinates with managers and employees to perform safety training activities with company managers and employees. Ensures that training, safety meetings and inspections are documented, including weekly tailgate meetings. Maintains safety records and updates Safety Data Sheet (SDS) documents and other documents that require periodic updates.
* Coordinates Smith Driver Training program for company employees, and performs training.
* Performs periodic field inspections, office walk-throughs, and yard inspections, and is responsible for making immediate corrections, shutdown work if deemed necessary, and/or reporting safety issues immediately to manager, supervisor, and company leadership.
* Manage the company's Near Miss reporting program, including promoting the program, distributing report information to share with employees in tailgate meetings, and ensure issues identified are tracked and resolved.
* Leads company Employee Safety Committee.
* Participates in the Corporate Safety Committee.
* Develop, update, and implementation of the Company's emergency response plan and operations and disaster recovery plans.

Computer Skills: Ability to learn and independently use security system software. Ability to independently perform Internet searches to find information and solutions required to solve problems. Ability to independently learn and use web-based software (NetTime, Halogen, etc.). Experience using Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems (like SAP) for, time card entries, and procurement activities. Ability to use Microsoft Office 365 to efficiently complete tasks.
