As a Clinical Counselor I or II in ADSAP the primary duty is the performance of work requiring advance knowledge acquired during a four year degree course of instruction; and requires the incumbent to consistently exercise discretion and judgment in applying her advanced knowledge. Primary activities will be to conduct assessments and complete treatment plans in a timely manner, as well as provide intense case management. Individual, group and families counseling may be provided as needed within the agency.
Position Logistics
34-hour work week (4-day work week)
Evening hours required, flex schedule available with approval by supervisor
Routinely 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM shifts Tuesday - Friday
Open to hiring a CCI or CCII. Level and compensation are commensurate with education and experience.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assist the Richland Program Manager with the day to day functions of the Richland office.
Inform the ADSAP Program Manager and assist in the resolution.
Ensure program quality compliance procedures for ADSAP files, i.e. reviewing and signing appropriate documents.
Conducts assessment interviewing and, when indicated, makes referrals to appropriate services.
Develops and maintains individualized treatment plans.
Case manages and monitors client progress, identifies client needs, and maintains all clinical records.
Provides as needed individual and group counseling sessions.
Provides case consultation to assure comprehensive quality care of clients.
Minimum Education and/or Experience
Bachelor's degree in human service field and experience performing the essential duties of the position are required.
A Master's degree in human service field and experience in performing the essential duties of the position are preferred. Licensure and/or certification are highly desired.

Certified as Clinical Addictions Counselor through the SC Association of Alcoholism and Drug Abuse Counselors, or able to complete the certification process within the required timeframe.

The Clinical Counselor's primary duty is the performance of work requiring advanced knowledge, discretion and judgment in the application of therapeutic interventions designed to improve the overall function and wellbeing of patients diagnosed with substance use disorders, mental illness, and/or co-occurring disorders.
Position Logistics
Full-time, 37.5-hour work week (5 days a week)
Routinely 8:00 am - 5:00 pm shifts Monday - Thursday and Friday 8:00 - 12:00 pm Daytime and evening hours are required, with a flex schedule as approved by the supervisor.
Hiring salary range: $48,000 - $62,000 (Level and compensation will be commensurate with experience and licensure.)
We are open to hiring as a Clinical Counselor II, III or IV. Level and compensation will be commensurate with experience and education.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Provides evidence-based, best practice therapeutic interventions to individuals, groups, and families with substance use disorders, mental illness, and/or co-occurring disorders.
Completes appropriate screening and/or biopsychosocial assessments for all patients upon admission
Utilizes crisis intervention counseling as necessary
Develops, maintains, monitors and updates, as necessary, individualized plans of care for assigned patients
Manages and monitors patient progress, identifies patient needs, and maintains clinical documentation in compliance with all applicable regulatory standards
Participates in regularly scheduled clinical supervision with assigned Program Manager
Collaborates with other members of the treatment team to provide case consultation and case management services to all patients
Marginal Duties
Assists with POE duties to ensure timely access to assessments
Attends all required meetings and training sessions

Education, Experience & Licensure Requirements
A Bachelor's degree in human service field is required.
A Master's degree in human service field and experience in performing the essential duties of the position for substance use/misuse populations are preferred.
Licensure as an LPHA (Licensed Physician; Licensed Psychiatrist; Licensed Psychologist; Licensed Psycho-educational Specialist; Licensed APRN; LISW-CP; Licensed PN; LPC; LMFT; LAC) or certification as ADC/AADC are highly desired.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
Licensed in South Carolina as an LPHA or Certification as an Alcohol and Drug Counselor or Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor through Addiction Professionals of South Carolina are highly desired. If unlicensed/uncertified, ability to obtain licensure or certification within three years of hire.

This includes the following: assessment of the patient's medical and surgical history, ASA classification, NPO status, pertinent labs, and sedation plan with primary documentation. Verifies Universal Protocol Part 1 is complete and notifies department and/or physician doing procedure of any missing information. Reports and documents findings. Gathers pertinent records needed for procedures such as: History and Physical, Lab reports, and Medication Record. Anticipates and/or predicts changes and modifies any care delivered to best meet the needs of the patient. Incorporates patient preferences, concerns, and special needs into daily work schedule. Establishes overt/covert needs as well as anticipated needs related to the diagnosis. Monitors patient throughout the stay. Utilizes ALDRETE score consistently. Follows Infection Control policies and procedures on all patients.
Maintains safe working environment. Knows the location and use of emergency equipment. Demonstrated competency of annual departmental competencies. 2. Acquires and maintains credentialing as an Alcohol and Drug Counselor (ADC-IP or ADC) through SCAADAC. Follows the SCAADAC code of ethics.
3. Maintains patient record in compliance with all governing bodies to include, DAODAS, DHEC, CARF and DHHS (Medicaid).
4. Maintains a caseload as assigned by Supervisor.
5. Obtains and maintains a working knowledge of ASAM PPC2-R and DSM 5 criteria for substance use disorders.
6. Observes, trains, and becomes proficient in all treatment programs; to include working knowledge of program curriculums.
7. Works within various programs to provide staff coverage of group, individual, or assessment sessions.
8. Participates as a Peer Review Auditor when requested.
9. Requires regular and reliable attendance.
10. Remains current by attending Safety Trainings, mandatory trainings/licensure, and receiving an annual TB screening.
11. Proficiency with MS Office applications and Medical Records software applications, emails, etc.
12. Administer the GPRA and follow up forms at appropriate times.
13. Other duties as assigned by Supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Masters Degree from a regionally accredited program preferred, Bachelor Degree in human service related field from a regionally accredited program required (such as counseling, social work or psychology). Other degrees will be considered based on relevance to position and acceptability to DAODAS/SCAADAC for credentialing purposes. Related work experience desirable.

Qualifications: Doctoral degree in clinical psychology or closely related discipline (e.g., Health Psychology). Completion of APA-accredited predoctoral internship. Licensed or license-eligible in South Carolina per requirements set forth by the SC Board of Examiners in Psychology. Multicultural competency in working with minority populations, including the medically and socially underserved, is required.

Essential Job Functions:
* Direct Service: About 3.5 to 4 days per week (75%) will be spent in direct service provision to patients, including psychological testing/diagnostic clarification; psychotherapy and intervention across a variety of modalities (individual, family, group); and multi-disciplinary team facilitation and development, ideally to include both patient and treatment team for collaboration in care planning.
o Provide intensive assessment and psychotherapy to high-risk patients who require specialized training and expertise.
o Utilize effective, evidence-based treatment approaches, such as cognitive behavioral approaches, dialectical behavior therapy, short-term crisis intervention, solution-focused therapy, and motivational interviewing.
o Provide consultation services as requested and approved by supervisory staff.

o Serve as a point-of-contact for counselors and BHCs within HopeHealth who may need case consultation or practice consultation, thereby leading to improved professional practices by Behavioral Health team members.
