Key Responsibilities: Determine appropriate cutting tools, fixturing, and machines for optimized machining approaches to complex, multi-axis milling production of rotating blades and stationary vanes components. Complete the development and implementation of manufacturing CNC programs for complex machining processes for multi-axis milling machines. Support in the development of Manufacturing Quality Control Plans / Part Inspection Plans. Support shop machinists to successfully execute manufacturing processes and complex machining activities. Assist and provide direction for design and development of fixturing for machining processes. Design specialty cutting tools for precision form milling. Collaborate with management, product engineering, peer engineers, and operators to realize high quality, stable processes for complex, conventional machining production of rotating blades and stationary vanes components. Project leadership of development and qualification projects (scheduling, design of experiments, experimentation, reporting, documentation) with full responsibility for due dates, results and costs associated with your field of activities. Review in process product quality control information (manual and CMM dimension checks) and work with production personnel to adjust production run machining processes. Work with production personnel to implement, troubleshoot, and improve machining and associated processes. Collaborate with Quality Engineer to conduct Root Cause Corrective Analyses. Communicate with customers to understand requirements and communicate process deviations (NCRs). Lead continuous process improvements (analysis, solution finding, implementation) around machining processes and methods. Perform and assess manufacturing data to determine opportunities for improvement and lead teams to successfully implement changes. Support quoting efforts by providing cost estimates. Review tooling inventory and adjust stocking levels based on production run usage. Lead and support CAPEX projects and ROI calculations. Key Requirements and Technology Experience: 2-4 year degree in related Engineering discipline. 5+ years relevant and proven 4- or 5-axis milling manufacturing experience. Skilled in interpretation of product and manufacturing drawings and specifications. Skilled in the use of Siemens NX & Teamcenter CAD/CAM systems and product data management systems. Knowledgeable in 4- and 5-axis milling machining processes. Knowledgeable in programming, online and offline, of conventional milling machines. Expert Knowledge in parametric model definition tools of NX and assembly modeling with interpart linking. Knowledge in designing component fixtures related to milling machining processes. Skilled in interpretation of product and manufacturing drawings and GD&T specifications. Working knowledge of MS office (Project, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook). The purpose of the role is to design, develop and improve processes with CNC programming to increase the efficiency and quality of production. Duties and Responsibilities Improve manufacturing processes by analyzing the current state and finding opportunities for improvements by changing tooling and cutting processes to decrease product cost and cost related to handling, quality and supply chain. Participate in capital investment projects and manage parts of them to achieve the planned outcome, the timeline and budget of the project. Support the sourcing of new production equipment, tooling and support equipment by researching and testing multiple options and comparing them. Support production management and quality with troubleshooting/analysis of processes on CNC machines Create standard CNC programs and routers for processes that have been standardized. Qualifications Associates degree from two-year college or university in mechanical, industrial or process engineering or equivalent manufacturing experience Minimum four years related manufacturing (metal parts) or process engineer experience. Ability to run CNC machines required (lathes, mills, grinders); as well as ability to read G and M code. Experience programming CNC code on software like Esprit or Mastercam required. Experience with production processes like cutting, molding, forming or assembly. Ability to read manufacturing prints (dimensioning and geometric constrains) Experience with measuring tools (calibers, micrometers, indicators, gauge blocks, pins, pi tapes) Basic understanding of cutting tool designs and styles used in turning and milling is required. Understanding of robotic and automation principles Ability to use CAD (2D and 3D) drawing programs to sketch designs for simple components, work holding and to adjust part models; ability to use 3D CAD models as input for CAM programs and create part programs. Software requirements: Microsoft Office, ACAD, Inventor, CAM, plus experience with other ERP systems.
