As a Control's Technician, here' the work you'll do: Leverages expertise in electronic and industrial technologies to test, troubleshoot, and modify automated control systems, including PLCs, to ensure optimal performance. * Troubleshoot and evaluate breakdowns as well as initiate modifications to equipment. Troubleshooting may include building test samples, error replication, and data collection/analysis. Works in close support with Engineers, quality or production personnel.

* Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
* Experienced in PLC programming and Microsoft Office Software.
* Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, and electrical prints. Ability to write routine correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before employees of the organization.
* Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on experience with machinery and equipment. Knowledge and desire to troubleshoot and resolve issues with various complex machine types and systems.
* Ability with interfacing and integrating multiple systems and platforms in automated processes.
Minimum Qualifications
* Education: Associate degree from two year college or technical school in Industrial Technology or related field
* Length of Experience: 2+ year Technical experience
* Licenses/ Registrations: Must possess a valid REAL ID-compliant drivers license, which includes the gold or black star in the upper corner, indicating it is federally compliant.
* Other: Understand NEC, NFPA, NES
* Must be US citizen with ability to obtain clearances.

Key Responsibilities
Automation & Controls Support
* Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, servo systems, safety PLCs, and industrial networks (EtherNet/IP, Profibus, Profinet, etc.).
* Support with automation systems for:
* Melting and pouring systems
* Sand handling and molding lines
* Induction furnaces
* CNC machines, robots, conveyors, and material handling systems
* Perform root cause troubleshooting of recurring automation and control failures-not just "reset and run."
Reliability & Preventive Maintenance
* Develop, improve, and execute preventive and predictive maintenance tasks for automation and controls assets.
* Partner with reliability and maintenance teams to eliminate chronic failures through:
* Failure mode understanding
* Standardized troubleshooting
* Better environmental protection (heat, dust, vibration, moisture)
* Ensure backups of PLC programs, HMI applications, and configuration files are maintained and controlled.
Continuous Improvement & Standardization

* Maintain and troubleshoot machine safety systems (light curtains, safety relays, interlocks, e-stops).
* Ensure automation systems comply with applicable safety, electrical, and environmental standards.
* Support quality systems by ensuring controls reliably support process repeatability and traceability.
Collaboration & Change Enablement (Critical)
* Work closely with operators, electricians, mechanics, engineers, and supervisors to:
* Explain system behavior in practical terms
* Reduce fear or misuse of automation
* Improve adherence to standard operating and maintenance practices
* Provide coaching and informal training to maintenance and operations personnel on automation systems.
* Document changes clearly to support long-term sustainability and reduce tribal knowledge dependency.
Required Qualifications
Technical Skills
* Strong experience with industrial automation and controls in heavy manufacturing environments
* Working knowledge of:
* PLC platforms (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or similar)
* HMIs and SCADA systems
* Electrical schematics and panel troubleshooting
* Instrumentation (sensors, encoders, temperature, pressure, flow)

Education & Experience

This position will perform all operations pertaining to the installation, repair and maintenance of a wide variety of electrical equipment and circuitry. Job Responsibilities:
Read and interpret wiring diagrams, blueprints and manuals.

What you will do:
Repairs and troubleshoots HVAC equipment, V.F.D's, Pumps, Heat Exchangers, Chillers and the Energy Management Program.

Possesses an above average knowledge of software, medium and low voltage control systems, cyclometric methodology, enthalpy methodology. Must have knowledge of economizing controls, and pressure relationships.
Understands HVAC equipment, V.F.D's, Pumps, Heat Exchangers, Chillers and the Energy Management Program.
Understand boilers and is capable of trouble shooting the steam or hot water heating systems.

Position Summary
This position supports the industrial maintenance and engineering teams on the production floor. The Engineering Technician applies skills learned on the job from prior industrial maintenance technician or equivalent technical role and knowledge learned in engineering / technology degree program/course of study to ensure production equipment is kept up and running.
Position Responsibilities
This position includes and expands on the job requirements commensurate with an Industrial Maintenance Technician II role.

Experience with Allen-Bradley controls - Logix/Studio and FactoryTalk View ME/SE
Working knowledge of the UL, NEC, CEC, NFPA, Hazardous Rating, and other technical codes.
Working knowledge of PSM (process safety management) processes and systems is desired but not required.
Strong knowledge of MS Office and control software tools.
Experience with AutoCAD or similar software is a plus
Ability to manage multiple projects, work independently, and meet deadlines.

Red Diamond Plant McArthur, Ohio Austin Powder Company AND RESPONSIBILITIES Austin Powder is seeking to hire a full-time Controls Engineer to join our team at our Red Diamond Manufacturing plant in McArthur, Ohio. This engineering position provides expertise in industrial manufacturing and process controls to support our manufacturing site to produce chemically manufactured energetic materials and the production of packaged explosives.
This role is to provide expertise in controls engineering with a primary focus in the design, implementation, and support of PLC, HMI, and SCADA systems. The Red Diamond plant produces chemically manufactured energetic materials and packaged explosives. The successful candidate will work with production managers and support staff to produce in a safe, compliant, high quality, and cost-efficient operation. The Red Diamond site in McArthur, Ohio was established in 1930 and has undergone many changes in the years since.
DAY TO DAY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Responsible for the electrical aspects of new capital and improvement projects including hardware design, programming, design documentation, networking, data acquisition, equipment installation, equipment debug, and support.
* Hands-on approach to projects - design, build and install new control systems.
* Work on engineering solutions to improve equipment reliability and safety, lower operation and maintenance costs, and improve ergonomics.
* Supply project leaders with capital cost estimates and project timelines for completion of electrical work
* Provide technical support in Manufacturing & Process Control for Production and Maintenance departments.
* Mentor maintenance and production personnel in maintenance and troubleshooting of electrical systems.
* Work with and often manage outside engineering and construction personnel.
* Ensure all safety, health, environmental, and compliance aspects for the projects meet the appropriate regulations.
* Support the Process Safety Management (PSM) program at Red Diamond Plant by completing documentation where needed on projects.
* Support unit leadership in the oversight of startup and shutdown for major events.
* Maintain and develop plant electrical loads analysis, Arc Flash requirements and One-Line drawings.
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIRED SKILLS:
Must demonstrate competency and proficiency in the following skills and/or abilities:
Minimum of a BSc degree in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience
* Minimum of 3 years professional experience
* Experience programming PLC, HMI, and SCADA systems
* Ability to read and understand existing code, and safely edit online
* Proficiency in multiple IEC 61131-3 programming languages such as LD, ST, and FBD
* Experience commissioning new control systems
* Experience with Allen-Bradley controls - Logix/Studio and FactoryTalk View ME/SE
* Experience with SCADA software is a plus (Ignition, Aveva, WonderWare, Indusoft)
* Experience with AutoCAD or similar software is a plus
* Working knowledge of the UL, NEC, NFPA, 70E, NFPA 79, Hazardous Environmental Class ratings and other technical codes
* Strong desire to take ownership and drive results
* Must have good judgment, be self-motivated, and be safety conscious
