Riveon Mental Health and Recovery (Formerly The LCADA Way and Nord Center) is currently recruiting for a Day Treatment Addiction Counselor to work at our Cuyahoga County Wellness Center located in Middleburg Heights. Summary: The Day Treatment Addiction Counselor is responsible for routine duties of an Addiction Counselor, including, but not limited to screening, assessment, treatment planning, education, referral and documentation. Essential Functions: Delivery of clinical services including individual counseling, group counseling, family counseling, intensive outpatient services, requesting urinalysis, non-medical community residential services, consultation, referral and information, intervention, hotline, training, outreach, crisis intervention, case management and adjunctive alcohol and drug services. Assessment and treatment planning including assessment of client's strengths and weaknesses, developing treatment plans to prioritize and address identified problems, examining alternative solutions and developing plans of action. Day Treatment Program includes 5 days per week of Intensive Outpatient (IOP) group services. Position is also responsible for coordination and on-going communication with the staff and representatives of Residential and Recovery Housing programs. Oversight of each case assigned to caseload. Orienting the client to the program, clinical reviews and clinical staffing, discharge planning and completion of daily progress notes. Engaging the family of each client in the family treatment program. Delivery of program components as assigned. Weekly contact with referral sources for clients assigned to caseload. Completion of all CQI data collection and implementation of all CQI corrective actions as assigned. Monthly participation in the Utilization Review and Peer Review programs. Other duties as assigned. Requirements Educational Requirements: Associate Degree or substantial progress towards Associate Degree with emphasis on Addictions Treatment and Prevention or equivalent required. Bachelor's Degree or higher preferred. Certification Requirements: LCDCII, LPC, LSW or higher credential required. CDCA credential with eligibility to upgrade licensure within 6 months of employment may be considered dependent upon experience. Amount of Travel: Minimal, mostly confined to local travel. The Crisis Recovery Center will transform crisis care by providing 24/7 walk-in behavioral health services meant to immediately identify, triage, address, stabilize and treat persons in mental health crisis and assist those who have substance abuse withdrawal needs. The 3.7 Withdrawal Management Clinician provides clinical oversight and direct therapeutic services to individuals undergoing medically monitored withdrawal management within a 3.7 level of care setting. This clinician is responsible for conducting biopsychosocial assessments, creating treatment plans, delivering brief interventions, and coordinating transitions to ongoing care. The role includes collaboration with medical staff, case managers, and recovery support personnel to ensure safe, supportive detoxification in a trauma-informed environment. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS * Complete biopsychosocial assessments within 24 hours of client admission. * Monitor mental status and assess for co-occurring mental health conditions throughout the withdrawal process. * Provide clinical support including individual counseling, crisis intervention, and motivational interviewing. * Develop individualized treatment plans and ensure alignment with ASAM criteria. * Collaborate with medical staff to monitor client progress and adjust care planning as appropriate. * Facilitate discharge planning and care coordination to residential, outpatient, MAT, or other appropriate services. * Conduct family or support system engagement when appropriate to enhance recovery outcomes. * Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in the Electronic Health Record (EHR). * Participate in daily team huddles and treatment planning meetings. * Support a trauma-informed, person-centered model of care aligned with 3.7 withdrawal management standards. * Educate clients on the withdrawal process, medication protocols, and recovery planning. Requirements KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED * Strong working knowledge of ASAM criteria, withdrawal management protocols, and substance use disorders. * Familiarity with symptoms of intoxication and withdrawal from alcohol, opioids, benzodiazepines, and other substances. * Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team in a high-acuity setting. * Clinical competence in brief interventions, assessment, and crisis response. * Cultural competence and ability to work with diverse populations. * Knowledge of medication-assisted treatment (MAT) and harm reduction principles. REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS * Licensed in the State of Ohio as an LSW, LPC, or higher. Independent licensure (LISW, LPCC) preferred. * Two years' experience working with substance use disorders, preferably in detox or withdrawal settings. * Certification in First Aid, CPR, and Crisis Intervention (or obtained within 90 days of hire). * Proficiency with Electronic Health Records (EHR) and Microsoft Office. Responsibilities: * Serve as a safety expert in patient care areas. This includes a strong knowledge of and adherence to established safety policies, procedures, and standards of care. Perform continuous safety rounds in patient care areas and proactively identify and communicate with clinical staff any patient/family dynamics that could result in an unsafe environment. Develop supportive interpersonal relationships with individuals and groups of patients in accordance with treatment plan goals. Respond to staff requests for assistance with patients demonstrating escalated, threatening, or aggressive behaviors. Demonstrate expertise in the application of de-escalation techniques and interventions. Initiate debriefing sessions and provide feedback to staff after seclusion and restraint situations and any crisis. Partner with Public Safety and Safety Technicians in monitoring and maintaining a safe treatment environment for patients, families, and staff. Intervene during escalating situations applying skills and expertise to reduce the likelihood of physical altercations. Assess for changes in patient behaviors and provide assistance with early intervention. Document patient/family safety encounters in medical record/progress note. Other duties as required.
