Responsibilities * Leads a team and works safely following all related policies and programs to ensure a safe working environment while accepting feedback from others and giving appropriate recognition to others. * Responsible for correct reporting of time, production and material usage.
* Set-up of the machine including preparing materials, prints and mounting cylinders.
* Use of computer equipment to enter information relating to the production run including job information, measurements etc.
* Perform quality checks.
* Report irregularities, maintenance needs and quality problems to the team Supervisor and/or Production Manager.
* Assists the machine crew in running, changing over, starting up and cleaning up the machine.
* Checks raw materials on hand against what is needed for each production run to ensure shortages are prevented.
* Using a ruler, verify dimensions on material to ensure a quality product.
* The ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure.
* Troubleshoot machine issues and make recommendations on improving processes.
* Keeps work area clean and orderly.
* Written and oral communication skills is required.
* Other job tasks and projects as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities
This position will supervise a small team as assigned. These responsibilities include planning, assigning and directing work to be completed.
Qualifications
* A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
* Three (3) years prior experience in a manufacturing environment.
* Experience leading a small team or group.
* Good human relations skills and strong verbal communication skills are required.
Physical Demands
Employees are frequently required to stand and repetitively use arms, hands, and fingers to handle, feel and/or reach product. Employees are occasionally required to walk, climb, or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds; and frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Description
As an Assistant Machine Operator with Liberty Packaging, you will contribute to the growth of our business by being a key player in safely producing quality corrugated products for our customers. You will work within a small group as an assistant operator; in this role, you will support machine operators to maximize machine efficiency by assisting with setting up orders correctly, performing quality checks, stacking orders, and communicating issues. The Assistant Machine Operator role are also occasionally asked to assist in operating finishing machines / tasks (gluers, stitchers, slitter, and saw machine operation).
This full-time position will report to a Production Supervisor at our Golden Valley, MN manufacturing facility.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
* Support machine operation by assisting with the setup of orders according to customer specifications, following order readiness process of efficiently preparing the right tools to complete the job.
* Assist machine operators during quality checks by inspecting a first article, and articles throughout the order to identify issues, ensuring quality product, along with monitoring equipment and raw materials.
* Support the operator in monitoring production metrics to accurately track progress of production rates, quality, maintenance needs, and downtime.
* Proactively communicate issues with equipment to appropriate leaders, and assist with trouble shooting, and problem solving to maximize overall equipment efficiency and minimize downtime.
* Intermittently assist with minor repairs to equipment in partnership with maintenance team.
* Maintain a clean and organized work area by following post order cleaning process.
* Follow plant safety processes and procedures outlined for the machine center.
* Other duties, as assigned.
REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
* High School diploma or GED equivalent from an accredited institution or 1+ years manufacturing or comparable experience in place of education.
* Previous experience applying math skills such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
* Previous experience reading, following, and/or completing detailed work instructions.
* Must be available to work overtime, weekends, and holidays as required.
PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
* Experience reading a tape measure to within 1/16" measurement.
* Experience with computer skills such as typing, printing, and data entry.
* Experience within the corrugated industry.
* Experience with operational excellence or continuous improvement programs - Lean 6 Sigma, Kaizen Events.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
The starting pay rate for this position is $25.97 per hour (if applicable) plus hourly shift differential pay.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
On a daily basis will be responsible for assigned production lines to ensure that product is produced in accordance with established quality and product standards. Must familiarize yourself with the daily production goals so they are achieved for each line assignment.
Evaluate and discuss the operation of assigned machinery with the Machine Operator from the previous shift. Will operate and adjust production line equipment, in accordance with established production standards as well as perform preventative maintenance and report any problems.
Machine Operators will perform quality checks on containers to ensure proper specifications are maintained. Document any problems or adjustments made to assigned machinery.
Check and maintain defined levels of all raw materials used in production on assigned machinery. Keep all assigned machines and area neat and clean of debris.
Responsible for conducting him/herself in a safe manner and adhering to all required safety protocols and policies.
Required to wear PPE properly in accordance with company standards.
Keep the area around your workstation clean and free from dirt and debris; this may include cleaning assigned areas of the building or pieces of equipment as instructed by your Supervisor.
Follows plant specified job specifications and task lists.
Must be able to work assigned shifts, including working overtime and attending after hour meetings as needed.

Food Safety Responsibilities
