Job Purpose/Summary:
Installs, repairs, and maintains diesel engines and HAZMAT tankers. General maintenance as required.
Job Responsibilities
Responsible for maintenance and repairs on transport trucks, trailers and pickups.
Participate in on-call rotation schedule.
Ensure proper D.O.T., state inspection and insurance papers are included in the cab data book.
May operate fork lift and company assigned pickup.
Familiar with all safety procedures for working with electricity, engines, compressors and material safety data sheets for related materials.
May work in proximity to significant hazards (H2S, chemicals, high voltage, elevated heights, volatile liquids, etc.), which require safety accommodations and/or procedures.
Perform brake jobs, troubleshooting, electrical problems, and inspect equipment (turbo, engine, a/c, all electrical).
Perform state truck and trailer inspections.
Demonstrate ability to make independent decisions and reports work progress routinely.
Proficient with paperwork, inspection compliance and records keeping.
Work independently and able to initiate and manage outside repairs.
Assist in scheduling trucks for maintenance and inspections.
Assist in maintaining Safety Data Sheets.
Work under indirect and occasional supervision.
May occasionally lead and train other mechanics.
Fill in for the lead mechanic when needed.
Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor.
Demonstrate a positive impact by promoting safety in decisions and actions.
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience Required:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Minimum of 3 years of experience.
Intermediate mechanical aptitude and familiarity with diesel and gasoline engines, electronics and testing equipment.
Basic math skills required to take measurements, change speedometers, read manuals and perform service work.
Applicable safety training, licenses and certifications for the job assignment.
Must have own tools (Tool Allowance provided).
Must have and maintain a valid Class C operator driver's license to operate company pickup trucks; CDL license is preferred.
Successfully pass pre-employment background check (including MVR) and drug testing.

What does a Lube Technician do to deliver exceptional service and exceed our customers' expectations?
Assist the customer in selecting oil type and other services

Good to Know Before You Start!
We will give you extensive training to master our relatively simple automotive services performed the Take 5 Oil Change way.
You will need to always be alert and aware of your surroundings. We emphasize safety first!
You must be able to physically maneuver in and out of a shallow 3' deep pit used to position our technicians safely under our customers' cars.
You must be able to lift up to fifty (50) pounds, to walk, stand, bend, stoop, twist, etc. for extended periods of time and perform activities that involve holding, grasping, pulling and turning.
While we will work to ensure the comfort of our work spaces, you will occasionally work in hot/cold weather conditions because of our open bay concept (weather permitting).
You will need to have reliable transportation to/from work.

Identifies mechanical problems, either visually or with computer diagnostic equipment.

The Opportunity: The Service Technician is responsible for repairing and maintaining company vehicles. This position also performs inspections on machinery and equipment and maintains the shop in accordance with company policies. Responsibilities:
Perform vehicle and equipment maintenance to include but not limited to: Preventative Maintenance services, air brake repairs, annual inspections, tires repairs, electrical diagnostics, suspension repairs, etc. All in accordance to manufacture recommended guidelines.
Operate shop equipment and machinery in accordance with safety requirements.
Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
Notify Shop & Transportation Manager of equipment malfunctions.
Documentation of work completed to comply with DOT regulations.
Move products between stations and shipping area as needed. Including loading and unloading of rail cars.
Conserves maintenance resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results.
Performs and assumes other duties and responsibilities as may be required by immediate supervisor.
Employee must demonstrate safe work and risk management practices. Communicate and enforce all safety and security issues. Report and process all employee and/or customer incidents or unsafe acts in accordance with policy and procedure.
Employee is expected to set priorities and meet deadlines. Self-direction and motivation are also expected.
Must meet performance expectations and complete all duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Skills:
Minimum of 1 year mechanical experience, working with heavy duty trucks and equipment
Previous experience in Welding is preferred
Proficient verbal and written communication skills
Attention to detail and high level of accuracy
Ability to obtain Forklift certification
Knowledge of fuel, heating and oil and/or lubricant industry preferred
Diesel Mechanic certifications or background working in truck repair & maintenance
