High School Diploma or GED required.
3-5 years' experience in building maintenance or related field.

Responsibilities for a Maintenance Technician:
Perform routine maintenance and repairs on plumbing, electrical, HVAC, appliances, and facility systems.
Complete basic carpentry, painting, flooring, and custodial tasks as needed.
Conduct preventive maintenance and ensure all equipment and utility rooms are clean and organized.
Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, inventories, work orders, and inspections.
Respond to and prioritize maintenance requests, communicating with residents and the community manager.
Perform regular property inspections and seasonal tasks such as snow removal and grounds keeping.
Support compliance with HUD, OSHA, and LSS safety standards, including participation in inspections.
Coordinate with outside vendors and contractors for specialized repairs and services.
Assist in unit turnover and reconditioning for new residents.

Gas Technician 2 (Landfill)

Purpose The Environmental Compliance Technician assists in environmental quality assurance with reference to SWACO's permits and local, state, and federal regulations. This position operates the gas collection and control system, leachate collection system, ground water collection system, surface water conveyance system, and perform other necessary tasks to ensure facility compliance. The Environmental Compliance Technician will work primarily at SWACO's active landfill but will also work at the closed landfill and transfer stations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to, the following:
Operate and maintain the landfill gas collection system in order to meet regulatory requirements and achieve performance standards;
Coordinate repairs and modifications necessary to maintain and operate the landfill gas and leachate collection systems in a cost-effective manner;
Inspect, repair, and/or modify wells, wellheads, collection lines, condensate traps, migration probes, vaults, flares, leachate lines, pumps, and associated equipment as directed;
Implement environmental policies and compliance procedures applicable to SWACO facilities related to all permits, programs, and plans;
Calibrate and maintain meters and equipment as required, and schedule factory required calibration/maintenance as necessary;
Monitor sample points such as gas collection wells and gas probes, and record data by hand and/or electronically;
Conduct landfill field testing using portable instrumentation such as GEM 2000/5000, Elkins Envision, FID's, LEL meters, and water level meters;
Perform periodic maintenance checks on all SWACO's explosive gas monitoring systems, including gas probes and methane monitors, and assists in the preparation of reports to regulatory authorities;
Adjust landfill gas flow rates from wells, as necessary, to minimize gas emissions from the field and optimize flow to the high BTU facility;
Maintain a gas collection field log in various electronic forms to manage the project and resources effectively including production and quality deliverables;
Weld and fabricate High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE) pipes;
Troubleshoot and repair affected monitoring and pumping systems;
Organize and store data
Monitor, sample and log surface water at all SWACO facilities;
Conduct other environmental sampling and inspections for SWACO facilities, assure integrity of samples, and forward samples to testing laboratory;
Perform Quality Assurance / Quality Control function on environmental laboratory data reports and statistical reports;
Utilize GPS to check grades, references, and points of pipe installation; and
Recommend equipment and parts purchases.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or GED required;
Experience with landfill gas collection and environmental sampling or monitoring preferred, and
College classes in environmental studies preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of air compressor systems, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical pumps, principles, troubleshooting and repair;
Proficient in data management and reporting using Microsoft Word and Excel;

This position directs the work of Senior Operations Managers of these units and provides leadership across a workforce of maintenance professionals spanning multiple technical classifications. The ideal candidate is highly self-motivated, professional, with extensive experience working at a large transit agency with both rail and trolley vehicles.
Under the direction of the Chief Maintenance Officer (CMO), the DCMO, stewards the agency's fixed-guideway infrastructure integrity and drives operational excellence through comprehensive planning, performance management, and analytical decision-making. Leads the development and execution of complex, high-impact programs that ensure safe, reliable, and high-quality transit infrastructure in support of SFMTA's multimodal operations. The DCMO advises and reports to the CMO on the state of critical guideway systems. The DCMO oversees the implementation of robust preventive and corrective maintenance programs and provides strategic direction to MOW functional units Senior Operations Managers. The 9182 - Manager VIII may perform other duties as assigned/required.
How to qualify
1. Possession of a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university; AND
2. Eight (8) years of full-time experience at a mass transit agency in the operation, maintenance and repair in any of the following: power generating and related distribution systems; and/or electronic systems; and/or buildings, stations or passenger infrastructure; and/or use of heavy construction equipment; and/or track work; and/or maintenance engineering, which must have included five (5) years at the second supervisory level or management level which includes responsibility for supervising staff; AND
3. Possession of a valid driver's license.
Education Substitution: Additional years of qualifying experience (both second-level supervisory/management or non-supervisory) may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis. One year (2,000 hours) will be considered equivalent to thirty (30) semester units/forty-five (45) quarter units.

The DCMO provides direction on emergency response and resolution strategies for critical infrastructure incidents. The DCMO may be called upon to act on behalf of the CMO during their absence and cover the operational needs of the MOW section.
The DCMO oversees the implementation of robust preventive and corrective maintenance programs and provides strategic direction to MOW functional units Senior Operations Managers. The DCMO ensures all standard operating procedures and regulatory requirements are upheld and serves as representative to regulatory bodies and key stakeholders, including the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC), Federal Transit Administration (FTA), Pacific Gas & Electric (PG&E), and San Francisco Department of Public Health (SFDPH).
The MOW section of the SFMTA Transit Division directly oversees the fixed guideway infrastructure to ensure smooth and safe operations of our rail and trolley-bus lines. MOW is comprised of three functional operation units (Mechanical Infrastructure, Electrical Infrastructure, Facilities Maintenance) as well as Engineering, Compliance and Administration units. Together these teams directly support four of the five SFMTA transit modes including trolley bus, light rail, historic streetcar, and cable car. The mission of the SFMTA Transit Division is to provide safe, reliable, clean, efficient, accessible, and convenient public transportation to any destination in San Francisco. The Maintenance of Way Section works collaboratively with other SFMTA divisions and other city departments to provide services to our customers by operating and maintaining over 100 track miles of railway, 500 miles of electrical overhead and critical supporting systems.

Examples of Important and Essential Duties for the 9182 - Manager VIII:
Provides high-level oversight on all day-to-day Maintenance of Way infrastructure functions.
Provides direction to subordinate managers regarding activities and operations of their functional areas; assumes responsibility for improving the maintenance measures; coordinates with maintenance manager to maintain an effective maintenance program.
Adjusts plans and programs activities to meet maintenance needs and emerging problems; establishes new programs, while continuing to address major departmental policies; plans, organizes, directs, controls, and reviews the operation of departmental functions and activities.
Coordinates with MOW Administration Manager to monitor and make recommendations to the CMO on the efficiency and effectiveness of the departmental organization structure, staff assignments and service levels.
Identifies and analyzes opportunities for improvement and implements those improvements.
Contributes to budget development with strong justifications for proposals; manages and monitors operating budgets across multiple divisions.
Oversees and supports Senior Operations Managers in planning, assigning, and directing the activities of a large group of subordinate personnel engaged in the maintenance and repair of transit infrastructure.
Coordinates and directs subordinate supervisory personnel in the maintenance and repair of a variety of MOW fixed guideway facilities.
Approves requisitions for materials and supplies; prepares and checks cost estimates and makes recommendations for repairs.
Directs investigation of complaints and makes recommendations as to their adjustment; investigates fieldwork in process for compliance with proper procedures and methods; ensures that all facilities of the SFMTA MOW unit are inspected at regular intervals for compliance with safety laws, rules, regulations, and fire protection safeguards; confers with engineering personnel, Transit Division management, consultants, contractors and vendors on maintenance and repair projects, methods and procedures.
Assists in the development and advancement of subordinates through training and effective use of employee development program; through subordinate supervisory personnel directs the work of janitorial, maintenance and repair crews and related support staff.
The 9182 - Manager VIII may perform other duties as assigned/required.
Qualifications
1. Possession of a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university; AND
2. Eight (8) years of full-time experience at a mass transit agency in the operation, maintenance and repair in any of the following: power generating and related distribution systems; and/or electronic systems; and/or buildings, stations or passenger infrastructure; and/or use of heavy construction equipment; and/or track work; and/or maintenance engineering, which must have included five (5) years at the second supervisory level or management level which includes responsibility for supervising staff; AND
3. Possession of a valid driver's license.
Education Substitution: Additional years of qualifying experience (both second-level supervisory/management or non-supervisory) may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis. One year (2,000 hours) will be considered equivalent to thirty (30) semester units/forty-five (45) quarter units.

The San Francisco Public Utilities Commission (SFPUC) Wastewater Enterprise (WWE) operates and maintains San Francisco's combined sewer system to protect public health and the environment. These services extend across eight urban watersheds, more than 1,000 miles of pipe, 24 miles of transport and storage facilities and benefit every resident and visitor of San Francisco. WWE operates three all-weather wastewater treatment plants, one wet-weather facility, 32 pump stations, eight transport/storage facilities, and 34 combined sewer discharge structures to treat an estimated 34.6 billion gallons of wastewater in a typical year. This position performs preventive, routine and emergency maintenance/repair of a variety of Wastewater equipment and related system components. The incumbent will operate precision equipment and respond to trouble calls associated with Wastewater plant equipment and associated pump stations equipment. The nature of this work requires sustained physical effort and occasionally working in confined spaces. The incumbent may be required to work after hours due to staff shortages, to ensure safety and permit compliance or as part of a project or special event.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
* Sets up and operates a variety of machine tools, stationary as well as portable manual machine tools and Computer Numeric Control (CNC) machine tools such as mills, lathes, drills, saws etc.
* Rebuilds, refinishes, modifies, and/or fabricates component replacement parts for pumps, a variety type of valves, generators, cranes, special tools, compressors, pipelines, gear boxes, motors, bearings, bushings, shafts, and miscellaneous items throughout the Wastewater facilities.

The San Francisco Public Utilities Commission (SFPUC) Wastewater Enterprise (WWE) operates and maintains San Francisco's combined sewer system to protect public health and the environment. These services extend across eight urban watersheds, more than 1,000 miles of pipe, 24 miles of transport and storage facilities and benefit every resident and visitor of San Francisco. The incumbent will operate precision equipment and respond to trouble calls associated with Wastewater plant equipment and associated pump stations equipment. The incumbent may be required to work after hours due to staff shortages, to ensure safety and permit compliance or as part of a project or special event.

Role description

The City currently has a position open for Maintenance Technician. This position operates, maneuvers, navigates, or drives mechanical equipment and vehicles. Performs manual labor of more than ordinary difficulty which often involves the use of acquired skills. This is a collective bargaining unit position. The probation period for this position is 90 calendar days.
The position starts with a pay rate of $24.81 per hour. The normal schedule is 7:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m., Monday - Friday. The regular reporting location will be at the Engineering and Public Works Department, 30 Curran Drive, Athens, OH 45701. Position Specifications
Skill in the operation of vehicles and heavy equipment is required as well as
knowledge of the principles on which the engine operates.
Duties are often performed under varying climatic conditions for extended periods of time.

Mental and visual alertness, and sound judgment on the part of a utilities maintenance technician are required for safe operation of equipment.
Must perform duties with minimum amount of supervision, must be self-motivated.
A driving record acceptable to the City.
The City provides a seven day per week and twenty-four hours per day service, and therefore, certain employees may be required to work evenings, nights, weekends, holidays, and are subject to emergency call-outs.
