Provides an adequate supply of parts/material to the assigned departments in a timely and safe manner to maintain uninterrupted production and department efficiency. Removes completed production from work stations and transports to next staging area, warehouse or shipping, as required to facilitate overall plant productivity.
Requirements
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Reviews production schedule, due date control list and/or printouts from computer production tracking system to determine work priorities and specified materials for each assigned machine.
Locates appropriate parts by slip number and other identification and transports to designated machine or staging area, ensuring counts and parts are accurate.
Makes corrections to counts and slip numbers as required.
Researches and locates parts as needed to ensure that parts are being processed in sequential order and that all previous processes have been completed.
Provides workstations with appropriate racks, baskets and pallets for parts storage.
Removes completed production runs from machines and transports to next process, staging area, warehouse or assigned shipping area (per customer).
Responds to special requests (emergency orders) from operators and supervisors for material handling assistance.
Monitors levels of materials and status of work at machines and plans material delivery priorities accordingly.
Performs pre-use inspection of forklift truck and monitors fluid levels; refills oil, water and propane tank as necessary, following established procedures. Completes maintenance requests as needed.
Conducts pre-use overhead crane safety check and completes safety log.
Operates overhead magnetic crane as needed to position and align parts at workstation as required.
Reviews product print as needed to verify part numbers and component requirements.
Ensures that all parts and materials are properly stacked and positioned for safe movement and all identification labeling is accurate and complete.
Uses computer to print duplicate parts labeling and attaches to parts.
Uses two-way radio for communication with others.
Removes trash from assigned work areas and disposes in proper manner.
Operates metal banding equipment to secure parts onto pallets in prescribed manner for safe shipment and according to customer requirements.
Completes specified records of activity, scrap reports, etc.
Keeps track of special racks that are provided by customers.
Notifies supervisor or appropriate persons of low inventory levels or other related material problems.
Transports parts to and from quality department as required.
Provides support/assistance to machine operators to facilitate production and department operations.
Maintains good housekeeping standards in assigned area.
Performs all duties following established safety procedures and guidelines using assigned safety equipment.
Performs other duties as required.

JOB KNOWLEDGE:
Requires a thorough knowledge of the assigned department(s) processes, procedures and parts requirements. Must have computer skills and be familiar with parts tracking, production, inventory (AS400) systems and process codes. Must know products, terminology and parts identification system. Must be able to visually identify parts by shapes, codes and numbers. Requires the ability to read and interpret product identification labels, print specifications, shortage lists and related information. Must be familiar with manufacturing procedures, plant layout and storage/warehouse system and must have appropriate licenses. Requires skill in the use of forklift truck. Must be familiar with preventative maintenance procedures of forklift and all related safety and OSHA requirements. Requires skill in the use of overhead magnetic crane. Must have basic shop math skills and be skilled in the use of basic hand tools. Requires the ability to maintain specified records and lists, both manual and computer, i.e. scrap, shortages, forklift checklist. Requires knowledge of proper methods for stacking/positioning parts onto pallets for shipment and the setup and operation of metal banding equipment. Must know metric measurements.

Operates one plant machinery as directed and specified while adhering to all rules and regulations mandated by safety policies and procedures to produce a superior product.
General Purpose: To efficiently operate one machine at standard efficiency levels in order to fulfill daily production requirements.
Position Responsibilities:
Read and Perform Authorized LOTO as outlined for machine.
Operating in a safe manner.
Read job specifications to determine machine adjustments and material requirements.
Communicate daily with Team Leader or Shift Supervisor on any changes or issues that may impact quality or machine efficiency.
Sets stops or guides to specific lengths as indicated by scale, rule or templates.
Observes machine operation to detect product defects, machine malfunction and waste.
Review product for inconsistencies or abnormal appearance assuring product meets quality requirements.
Performs routine machine maintenance.
Ensure product specification, HACCP, label verification and other quality measures are in compliance.
Ensure any machine deficiencies, cases per hour, and other parameters are noted on the communication board.
Communicate with oncoming Machine Operator.
Assist other operators to set up machines and any other necessary tasks to adhere to deadlines and completion of product.
Ensure all housekeeping, environmental, and GMPs are maintained and adhered to.
Comply with company policies and procedures.
Other duties and responsibilities related to the nature of the job may be assigned on a temporary or permanent basis as needed.
Qualifications
Essential Skills and Experience:
Ability to lift up to 20 pounds.
Ability to add, sub-tract, multiply and divide in all units of measure.
Must be able to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos.
Must be able to identify colors.
