Summary of the position:
The SAP SOP Writer is responsible for developing, standardizing, and maintaining Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) related to Business workflows used across the Air Compressor business - including service, parts, manufacturing, logistics, and finance. This role partners with subject-matter experts in Service Centers, Distribution, Manufacturing Plants, Field Service, and corporate functions to translate real-world operational processes into clear, accurate, and compliant documentation used by employees across the organization.
Duties and responsibilities:
Develop and maintain SOPs and work instructions for SAP and other business platform processes specific to:
Service orders and service contracts
Parts and inventory management
Work orders and manufacturing execution
Sales, delivery, and invoicing
Warranty, RMA, and customer claims
Interview SMEs across Service, Operations, Supply Chain, and Finance to obtain accurate process details
Translate SAP transactions and configuration steps into easy-to-follow instructions for end users
Ensure SOPs comply with internal audit, ISO,SOX controls, quality standards, and change control rules
Maintain document version control and manage approvals through the controlled document system
Update documentation to reflect Business platform enhancements, rollouts, or process changes
Support onboarding and training efforts with documentation for new hires and new releases
Partner with quality and compliance to prepare for internal/external audits
Some travel required within the US.
Education:
High School Diploma Required
2 - 5+ years' experience writing SOPs, work instructions, or policy documentation in an industrial, manufacturing, or service environment
Experience supporting SAP in one or more modules (SD, MM, PM, PP, FI/CO, CS)
Familiarity with service center workflows, parts logistics, warranty processes, or manufacturing operations
Strong technical writing and plain-language editing skills
Experience working with controlled document systems

Project Management and Stakeholder Collaboration
Collaborate with Editorial Directors, Legal Editors, Product Managers, and other legal writers to scope, outline, draft and quality check new analytical content.

Develop expertise in tax law and its practitioners, as well as the law firm and market ecosystems in which they operate.

Environment
The Law Team Staff Writer will work remotely from their home location. All Ballotpedia staff work remotely. To join Ballotpedia, you must have a computer with Internet access. Ballotpedia uses the Google Suite (Gmail, Google Calendar, Drive, and more), Slack, and Asana to accomplish our goals. Some familiarity with the Google Suite, Slack, and Asana are helpful.
Ballotpedia has a flexible work environment, BP Flex, in which every employee enjoys unlimited vacation and flexibility in scheduling. Each employee will be oriented to the principles of Ballotpedia's flexible environment during new employee training.
Compensation
The starting pay range for the Law Team Staff Writer is $42,500-$44,000, commensurate with experience.
In addition to salary, Ballotpedia offers an annual benefits stipend equivalent to $8,000 that is paid out in equal increments in each paycheck once an employee becomes benefits eligible. The stipend may be used to pay for a full benefits package, including health, vision, and dental insurance; retirement accounts; and more. If benefits are not elected, the stipend is taxed as regular income and added to salary.
