Job Responsibilities:
Responsible for participating in development and maintenance of APQP, PPAP, and QMS documentation
Determines quality improvement parameters by identifying statistical methods relevant to manufacturing processes.
Establishes statistical confidence by identifying sample size and acceptable error; determining levels of confidence.
Establishes statistical reliability by using mean time before failure, weibull 3-parameter distribution, reliability modeling, and reliability demonstration tests.
Lead cross functional teams to develop Corrective and Preventive Action for Customer, Supplier and Production
Creates and maintain quality process inspection instructions, reports, and quality alerts
Participate in preparation and maintenance of process inspection instructions, reports, and quality alerts
Contribute to continual improvement efforts; to include lean manufacturing, process error proofing,
CPK improvement, problem solving and resolution, and assistance in providing timely reaction to concerns.
Assist in the design, development, and approval of checking aids and fixtures.

Regulatory Development Division
The Regulatory Development Division works with staff, management, executives, and Board members to develop and modify Air District rules to provide emissions reductions, improve air quality, and protect the climate. The Principal Air Quality Engineer for the Regulatory Development Division will:
work closely with professional and technical staff to perform and lead complex program assignments for developing regulations to control air pollutants (including those contributing to climate change and local air quality impacts in overburdened communities)
work with the California Air Resources Board, other local air districts, community groups, community members, environmental organizations, regulated industries, and other key stakeholders to reduce harmful air pollutants, especially in communities overburdened by air pollution
lead, conduct, and coordinate scientific, economic, and technical research work
review and draft regulatory language, develop and implement cost effectiveness and incremental cost effectiveness calculations for a wide variety of sources in an industry with various control options
analyze emissions inventories to determine baseline emissions and reduction estimates for rules under development
brief Air District executives and present at workshops and board meetings
work closely with the Community Engagement Division staff and other Air District divisions to strengthen partnerships with key community stakeholders
perform related work as assigned
Engineering Division
The Engineering Division evaluates permit applications and reviews permit renewals for equipment and operations that emit air pollutants within the Air District's jurisdiction. It provides technical support to other programs and assists businesses, trade associations, agencies, environmental groups, and community members with permitting and compliance issues. The division is responsible for implementing the Air District's Facility Risk Reduction Program to reduce health risks from existing facilities or sources. The position will work on the Air District's Toxic Air Contaminant (TAC) Control Programs, designed to identify, assess, and reduce public exposure to toxic air contaminants. The programs integrate federal, state, and local regulations to:
Monitor and evaluate TAC emissions from permitted facilities through annual emissions inventories and health risk assessments
Implement the Air Toxics New Source Review (NSR) program, requiring preconstruction review and risk assessment for new or modified TAC sources
Operate Facility Risk Reduction Programs, targeting existing facilities to identify, assess, and reduce health risks, especially in communities with disproportionate air quality impacts
Engage with community stakeholders and provide transparent access to emissions data and health risk information through annual reports and online tools
These efforts have led to significant reductions in health risks from toxic air contaminants across the Bay Area. The Engineering Division also engages in programs and projects including, but not limited to:
Dispersion modeling and health risk assessments for toxic emissions
Verification of emissions inventories
Database development and data management
Development of new regulations or amendments of existing regulations
Strategic planning of division programs
The Principal Air Quality Engineer for the Engineering Division may perform other complex and highly specialized air quality engineering work, including:
Processing permit applications for complex facilities
Analyzing air emissions and other metadata
Evaluating program effectiveness
Providing project leadership
This role also involves peer review, staff mentoring, and training. The incumbent may lead or contribute to sensitive, high-profile projects and deliver technical presentations to the Board of Directors, public, industry, and partner agencies, and may represent the Air District in multi-agency working groups.

The Role
This position offers a hands-on opportunity to leverage process engineering experience. Responsibilities include overseeing equipment/industrial suppliers, quality assurance, and processes to ensure timely production starts for new products. Your main goal will be to support the delivery of industrialization projects for localized internal manufacturing programs.
Key Responsibilities
Designing, developing, and maintaining manufacturing processes for current and future programs.
Developing, implementing, and operating manufacturing process documentation, including Design for Assembly (DFA), Design for Manufacturing (DFM), Build Processes, Process Control Plans, PFMEA, Risk Assessments, Safety Systems, and Launch Readiness.
Supporting the specification and design of equipment layouts and material flows.
Requisitioning new and modified tooling and equipment required for assembly, including specification, procurement, commissioning, installation, and validation.
Supporting the production team during the industrialization phases to enhance production quality and efficiency.
Assisting with prototype builds according to project delivery requirements, including early validation of production processes and tooling.
Developing assembly work standards to support both the prototype phase (build books) and the transfer to standard work instructions for production.
Continually improving manufacturing processes to meet cost, quality, and delivery performance targets through series production.
Ensuring quality standards are achieved in a series production environment.
Essential technical and professional skills, knowledge, and qualifications:
Industry experience in automotive, marine, or aerospace. Preferred experience Powertrain Systems (ICE).
Hands-on experience with lean manufacturing principles.
Understanding of relevant manufacturing methods, including detailed drawing dimensioning and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
Design and CAD experience for tooling and fixtures, virtual builds, factory layouts (2D/3D), and assembly equipment.
Demonstrable knowledge of various manufacturing processes and components used in assembly, including DFMEA, PFMEA, Control Plans, Capability Studies, Gauge R&R, work instructions, equipment acceptance, and quality gates (e.g., End of Line testing).
Experience in industrialization and launch readiness.
Experience with ISO standards for best manufacturing practices and processes. (i.e. ISO 9001/ IATF 16946, ISO 14001).
Exceptional 8D problem-solving skills.
Experience with Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES).
Preferred experience with vision systems (i.e. Cognex, Keyence).
Required Qualifications
Minimum of a bachelor's degree in mechanical, manufacturing, industrial, electrical engineering, or related field.
5+ years of relevant experience in manufacturing or process engineering.
A minimum of 2 years' experience in New Product Introduction (NPI) process engineering or a similar role, preferably within the automotive sector, where skills can be transferred to the responsibilities outlined above.

Position Summary
The Codes & Standards Engineer position is responsible for ensuring that all IEM's electrical distribution products and plant and field services operations meet relevant industry standards, codes, and safety regulations. The role is responsible for compliance with relevant industry regulations for multiple electrical distribution product lines. The position will support IEM's expanding production campuses within the US and Canada.
Key Responsibilities
Provide guidance in the interpretation of technical language and requirements of various codes and standards (e.g., NEC, UL, CSA, ANSI/IEEE C37.20, etc.)
Ensure IEM's products comply with relevant industry codes, standards, and regulations, and monitor changes that potentially impact products and/or operations.
Collaborate with R&D, Product Engineering, and recognized NRTLs to ensure that new product designs are aligned with testing methods and certification requirements.
Manage UL listing and certification processes including administrative review and maintenance of IEM's UL files.
Coordinate with IEM Services, Sales, NRTL Inspectors, and customers for any on-site Field Inspections/Field Evaluations ensuring detailed and accurate record management.
Analyze the impact of proposed changes to codes and standards on IEM's products or business and develop strategies to address regulatory challenges and opportunities.
Develop training and educational materials related to codes and standards for internal and external teams as needed.
Qualifications
Minimum 2-year technical degree in electrical/mechanical engineering or related science field.
Minimum 2-4 years' experience in the power distribution equipment or close-related industry.
Detailed technical understanding of industry regulations relevant to electrical distribution products including UL1558. UL891, UL1008, UL67, IEEE C37.20, etc.
Familiarity of product testing and certification processes (Electrical Manufacturing Industry knowledge preferred)
Constructive problem solving to address key technical challenges
Demonstrated success collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams.
Highly effective written and verbal communication.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools, especially Word and Excel.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Compensation
The salary range for this role is $91,200 -$130,000 per year, based on location, experience, and qualifications.
