We are seeking a General Maintenance and Fleet Tech for our Portland Red Cross Blood Center in Portland, ME.
Schedule Shift is Mon-Fri, 8am to 5pm (flexible - 40 hours). On call is required. Valid Drivers License is required.
Offer includes a $1,500 sign-on bonus. Up to $8,000 annually in on-call pay.
Main facility is 16,000 square feet. Fleet of 26 vehicles across 3 facilities.
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
Under general supervision, the General Maintenance Fleet and Tech II will perform repairs and maintenance in plant or office facilities, or on machines and equipment. The General Maintenance Fleet and Tech II typically performs work in one or more of the maintenance trades: carpentry, plumbing, painting, machine and equipment repair and electrical. Conduct routine, periodic, or special inspections to determine repair and maintenance work necessary to prevent breakdowns of facilities, machinery, and equipment. Use hand and power tools to test, inspect, troubleshoot, and repair machines and equipment. Provide support, development and/or leadership guidance to all volunteers.
Perform all duties and responsibilities in compliance with standard operating procedures and other applicable Federal, State and local regulations.
WHERE YOUR CAREER IS A FORCE GOOD
Maintain and repair organization's facilities and properties involving routine tasks and responsibilities. Patch minor holes and cracks in walls and ceilings. Repair or replace concrete floors, steps and sidewalks. Paint structures and equipment as needed. Install and correct minor electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and structural problems. Document installation and repairs as required by regulatory agencies. Install, operate and service boilers, chillers, motors, fans, pumps and related mechanical equipment.
May move and store furniture and equipment.
Estimate time and material costs of various projects. Requisition new supplies and equipment.
May plant and tend flowerbeds. Prune shrubs and trees to enhance growth and appearance, water lawns, shrubs and flowerbeds and spray fertilizer and insecticides. May rake and remove fallen leaves, sweep external walkways and staircases and may remove snow using power removal equipment or shovel. Apply snow-melting chemical when necessary on company roads, walkways and outside staircases.
May drive vehicle to other locations.
Perform all work in accordance with established safety procedures.
Responsible for 24 Fleet vehicles across 3 facilities.
WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED
Education: High School or equivalent required.
Experience: Minimum 3 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and related experience required. Related experience includes skill and knowledge of painting, HVAC, carpentry, pluming, masonry and electrical work is required.
Skills & Abilities: May require a valid driver's license and clean DMV record. Previous truck and/or bus driving experience is desirable. May be required to have basic computer skills. Exemplary interpersonal, verbal and written communications skills. Skills and knowledge of painting, HVAC, carpentry, plumbing, masonry and electrical work is required. May have on-call duties. Ability to work on a team.
Travel: Will drive vehicle to other locations. A current, valid driver's license with good driving record is required.

The salary range for this position is (Maine): $24 - $26 per hour

The Maintenance Assistant is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of the camp buildings and surrounding grounds at YMCA Camp Lincoln.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Ensure cleanliness of the facility including all indoor and outdoor spaces.
Stock and inventory housekeeping supplies across camp property.
Maintain strict safety protocol according to Camp Lincoln's policies and industry standards.
Manage all trash and waste disposal to provide a safe and clean facility for all programs and staff.
Conduct routine rounds and inspections of property and equipment.
Complete scheduled and nonscheduled work orders in a timely fashion.
Provide set-ups and breakdowns for programs, meetings, meals, special events, day camps.
General grounds keeping including mowing and weed wacking.
Respond to maintenance requests in a timely manner. Coordinate with Facilities Coordinator to ensure the issue is resolved thoroughly and correctly.
Maintain complete and accurate logs as applicable.
Monitor for safety issues and resolve any issue requiring attention.

Job Responsibilities
Interact professionally by using Spare Time Service Standards (Code S.E.R.V.E.)
Assist with tasks given by Facilities Manager.
Provide functional supervision to the pit crew.
Assist with pit crew training and other lane maintenance personnel; delegate work, monitor progress, and evaluate results.
Follow all safety procedures, perform visual inspections, and remain alert for signs of faulty equipment/machinery.
Develop temporary solutions to equipment problems to minimize down time until a permanent solution is available.
Communicate with Manager, District Mechanic and/or Head Mechanic (if applicable); keep them informed of problems or concerns.
Perform A.P. (Approach Patrols) at least once each shift, to check for potential approach hazards, and log.
Perform lane maintenance in accordance with established company procedures and schedules, including mopping, toweling, stripping, oiling/dusting approaches, etc.
Rebuild and weld parts as necessary, plows, pin holders, cushion boxes, rake shafts, etc.
Maintain, repair, and adjust all machines and equipment - pinsetters, automatic scorers, foul units, vending machines, kitchen, and lounge equipment.
Maintain an inventory of all equipment and parts; maintain related records.
Keep machine area orderly and safe.
Promptly respond to machine calls.
Review lane call books daily to identify and resolve problems.
Perform maintenance and light carpentry work on building exteriors and interiors; perform minor plumbing and electrical repairs.
Perform basic HVAC maintenance functions, change air filters, clean coils in accordance with established company procedures and schedules, including mopping, toweling, stripping, oiling/dusting approaches.
Perform light housekeeping duties as needed.
Act as back up person for guest assistance in the pro shop; perform ball work and provide related assistance to guest; sell, fit, drill, and plug balls.
Other duties as assigned.
For locations with Amusements:
Maintain, repair, and troubleshoot all machines and equipment including arcade games, laser tag equipment, escape room equipment, and teller machines etc. to resolve all issues.
Communicate with Amusement Manager/Supervisor and Center Management regarding concerns with game zone equipment.

Job Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
2+ years of mechanic experience.
Brunswick or AMF training a plus.

Familiarity with usage and safe operation of hand and power tools; welders, electric meters, air compressors, drills, saws, soldering irons, grinders, pullers, hydraulic presses, etc.
Work Environment

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
