We are seeking a dedicated Nursing Supervisor for Behavioral Health Services to join our team in a dynamic and patient-centered environment. This role offers a meaningful blend of direct patient care and nursing leadership, providing the opportunity to make a hands-on impact while guiding and supporting clinical staff. The Nursing Supervisor works closely with the Nurse Manager to support daily unit operations, serve as a clinical resource, and promote high-quality, compassionate care. This position is ideal for a skilled behavioral health nurse who is passionate about leadership, teamwork, and advancing excellent patient outcomes. The Maine Health MMC Sanford Inpatient Behavioral Health locked units (40 beds) provide 24-hour treatment and therapeutic programming to adults (ages 18 and above) in acute psychiatric crisis. The multidisciplinary team treats individuals experiencing major behavioral health illness. The program includes voluntary and involuntary levels of care. Our team of behavioral health professionals plan and work together with the patient to provide psychiatric care, medical treatment, support, referral for follow-up care, and opportunities for learning and emotional growth. This is a full time role based at our Sanford campus location. Summary: The Nursing Supervisor is the vital link between the mission and vision of SMHC and the delivery of safe patient and family-centered care. The Supervisor is responsible for planning, developing and implementing systems and procedures that will a) ensure a high standard of patient care; b) support and maintain competent and effective personnel; c) promote cost effectiveness; d) maintain a 24-hour nursing care system that best meets the needs of patients and families, and e) exhibit excellent, effective communication skills. Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs) * Education: Bachelor's Degree in Nursing desired. Master's Degree in Nursing or related field preferred. * Licesnse/Certifications: Current license as a Registered Nurse by the Maine State Board of Nursing required. * Experience: Minimum of five (5) years experience in nursing, with at last three (3) years in a supervisory or management capacity. * Ability to work and communicate effectively with nursing staff, physicians and other staff members.
