What You Will Do
The focus of the Maintenance Team is to keep equipment in the BDC fully operational. The BDC Maintenance Utility Team Member is an entry-level position for the Maintenance organization that initially requires entry level mechanical and electrical aptitude, basic tool knowledge, as well as the desire and ability to work with and learn from others. The individual in this role will be trained in safety protocols and basic electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and plumbing concepts, while performing simple preventive maintenance tasks such as forklift battery and light bulb replacement. This is a position in a water bottling plant. The role will be responsible for managing the operation of equipment and the repairs and maintenance of the equipment. Experience with blow molding is a plus.
The candidate will be expected to use safe work practices and counsel other employees in doing the same. Included in this is understanding and complying with the lock-out/tag-out procedures, remaining up to date on plant and safety matters and participating regularly in department/plant safety meetings.

Responsible for performing a variety of semi-skilled to skilled work in the maintenance and repair of the City's water and wastewater pump stations, buildings, facilities, heavy duty and specialized equipment and grounds. An employee in this class performs a variety of tasks related to the maintenance and repair activities associated with City-owned water and wastewater pump stations, buildings, facilities and grounds. Work includes performing various maintenance tasks such as electrical, mechanical and plumbing repairs to pump stations, buildings, grounds and related facilities. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Facilities Maintenance Supervisor and is reviewed for lasting quality, effectiveness, appearance and functionality through conference, inspection and records.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
• Performs a variety of maintenance tasks which include routine maintenance and repair activities associated with the City's water and wastewater pumping stations and water storage tanks.
• Performs journey level maintenance on heavy duty and specialized water and sewer equipment; troubleshooting, diagnosing, repairing and maintaining water and sewer pumps and motors.
• Performs regular preventive maintenance, which includes checking lubrication on water and sewer pumps and motors and having the ability to recognize issues with this equipment.
• May perform limited electrical troubleshooting and repairs but only at the direction and supervision of a City approved “Qualified Electrical Professional”. The level of work performed will be based on the level of knowledge, training, and experience of the individual. Expectations will be defined by the Facilities Maintenance Supervisor.
•Maintains grounds surrounding pump station and water storage tank sites and associated rights-of-way.
• Troubleshoots problems and performs skilled plumbing and mechanical repairs.
• Obtains materials, supplies, tools and equipment using established purchasing procedures.
• Keeps records of work activities in Cityworks.
• Serves time on standby and answers after hours call for emergencies.
