The Maintenance/Grounds worker will perform duties to keep the district facilities and grounds well maintained and to provide for a comfortable learning environment which is free from safety hazards. Essential Job Functions: Maintenance * Constructs and fabricates non-structural items to be used in District facilities. * Repairs, adjusts and replaces plumbing fixtures and performs other routine plumbing procedures such as unclogging drains. * Performs preventative maintenance on district facilities and equipment, including replacing belts, filters, lubrication of equipment and cleaning. * Repairs, adjusts and replaces electrical fixtures, ballasts, bulbs, lights, switches and outlets. * Repairs, adjusts and replaces locks, latches and door hardware. * Replaces windows, window trim and make non-structural repairs. * Cleans, paints and maintains district facilities. * Safely operates District motor vehicles. * Operates, maintains and repairs power tools and equipment. * Orders material and equipment. * Reports misuse, safety concerns or abuse of District facilities and equipment to supervisor. * Eliminates and identifies hazards throughout the District. * Maintains the security of District facilities. * Coordinates with others on major repairs and projects. * Assists other staff on projects and repairs. * Demonstrates professionalism through conduct, punctuality and minimal absences. * Complies with all District, State, Federal policies, procedures, codes and laws. * Maintains the ability to be a self-starter. * Establishes and maintains positive communications and working relations with staff, students, and the public with a focus on commitment to quality customer service and courteous, helpful, friendly cooperation. Grounds * Responsible for care and maintenance of district grounds including sidewalks, fields, landscaping and lawns. * Sets up and maintains outdoor sports facilities and athletic fields. * Prepares fields for sports competitions, including lining fields and maintaining dugouts and mounds. * Uses power equipment and hand tools (i.e., tractor, chain saws, blowers). * Performs cleaning and maintenance of District grounds, including pressure washing, picking up trash, cleaning sidewalks and grounds, entry ways; maintain parking lot areas, and keep drains free from debris * Empties outside wastebaskets and trash containers. * Operates a variety of mowers and related equipment in caring for grounds and perform minor equipment maintenance. * Waters, weeds, prunes and trims, apply fertilizers, seeds, and irrigate as necessary. * Safely operates district vehicles (i.e. maintain cleanliness and fuel as needed). * Reports concerns regarding vehicle and equipment operation to supervisor. * Repairs, maintains and operates irrigation system (i.e. winterize and make adjustments as needed). * Maintains facility security. * Works cooperatively and collaboratively with other staff. * Observes strict confidentiality regarding student and personnel information * Demonstrates professionalism through conduct, punctuality and minimal absences. * Complies with all District, State, Federal policies, procedures, codes and laws. * Maintains the ability to be a self-starter. * Possesses the ability to follow instructions. * Establishes and maintains positive communication and working relations with staff, students, and the public with a focus on commitment to quality customer service and courteous, helpful, friendly cooperation. Essential Functions Troubleshoot, diagnose, repair and maintain industrial equipment in the Precast Facility, including but not limited to. * Conveyors * Motors * Pumps * Hydraulics * Concrete Batching Systems * Basic understanding of high and low voltage equipment * Large Cranes * Aerial Platform Equipment * Industrial vehicles (diesel and gas powered) * Domestic gas vehicles Key Skills and Competencies * Advanced knowledge of industrial/hydraulic equipment and diagnostic tools * Must have excellent organizational, time management, attention to detail, and planning skills, and be able to multi-task effectively * Strong analytical skills for troubleshooting and problem solving * Welding experience preferred * Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to present information clearly and concisely. * Computer proficiency, a plus Experience Requirements 3-5 years of mechanical experience in a heavy industrial manufacturing environment, maintaining diesel and gas vehicles, as well as concrete plant equipment and tools.
