Maintenance Worker II incumbents perform a variety of semi-skilled to skilled maintenance and repair work involving the full spectrum of building and construction trades. Incumbents at the II level either work independently on maintenance assignments or assist higher-level staff in complex facilities maintenance projects. Maintenance Worker I incumbents perform unskilled to semi-skilled maintenance and repair duties and assist others in skilled maintenance work as directed.
REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES:
Perform semi-skilled maintenance and repair work on District buildings, facilities and equipment involving HVAC, electrical, carpentry and plumbing work.
Participate in the maintenance, diagnosis, adjustment, lubrication and repair of heating and ventilating equipment, compressors, motors, pumps and related equipment; replenish or change oil and grease moving parts; replace motors, switches, tubing, wiring, belts, filters and pump packing.
Troubleshoot electrical problems and make necessary repairs including replacement of wiring, ballasts, switches, fuses, receptacles, outlets, and plugs as required; install new electrical equipment, repair electrical equipment, light circuits and transformers as needed.
Repair, replace and construct woodwork including shelves and cabinets; assemble, install and repair furniture, bookshelves, fences, bulletin boards and other items; participate in remodeling projects including moving and constructing walls, partitions and ceilings; hang doors and replace locks.
Repair, alter and construct a variety of articles and structures of wood such as partitions, counters, doors, window frames and sheds.
Maintain or assist in the maintenance, diagnosis, repair or replacement of plumbing fixtures, water faucets, valves, drinking fountains, fittings and gaskets; utilize appropriate tools to clean and clear clogged drains and obstructed sewer lines; install new water lines, water tower and pipes as needed.
Inspect and assure proper operation of safety equipment including fire extinguishers; identify and report unsafe conditions and hazards.
Repair water pumps, hot water heaters, boilers and exhaust and circulation fans as required.
Grease and repair blower motors, sewer plant pumps and water tower blowers.
Order material according to established procedures.
Perform formwork; install reinforcing steel in foundations, pour and finish slab and foundations concrete work; install vinyl tile and paint floor.
Hang dry wall, tape and prepare surfaces for painting; insulate walls and ceilings as required.
Operate a wide variety of tools and equipment used in the construction trades including a fork lift, bucket truck, electrical meters, electrical saws, drills, planers, router, power nail gun, voltmeter, welding equipment, and other hand and power tools.

4. Performs routine minor repairs and maintenance on common facility systems such as plumbing (toilets, sinks), electrical (switches, reset breakers) and HVAC (filters, motor replacement (under 10HP)).
5. Completes assigned Preventative Maintenance (PM) tasks as per Manufacturer recommended guidelines in a timely manner; prior PM deadlines expiring.
6. Performs assigned safety checks on heating, cooling, minor equipment (as assigned) and other common systems/equipment as per Manufacturer recommended guidelines.
7. Mixes appropriate chemicals and conducts assigned testing for routine quality control checks required by Manufacturer guidelines within the Central Utility Plant.
8. May perform minor repair or facility structures which may include, wall repairs, carpet/tile installation, drywall, sanding, & painting.
9. May assist in more extensive minor construction activities such as masonry and general concrete work.
10. Complies with the department Safety Program in performing daily activities. Is responsible for utilizing assigned PPE equipment as required for completion of work orders or projects.

Requirements
1-2 years of experience in a steel shop, industrial, or maintenance environment preferred.
Basic understanding of electrical systems and safety practices, with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues.
Experience in hydraulic systems and mechanical repairs, demonstrating capability to support routine maintenance and minor repairs.
Familiarity with specific steel processing equipment, such as Voortman machines, saws, drills, and plasma cutters, is an advantage.
Physically able to lift, move, and work in various roles and environments within the shop or yard, requiring bending, squatting, kneeling, standing for long periods, and lifting up to 25 lbs in any direction.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to relay information precisely and concisely.

Job Summary:
The Mine Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for the safe and timely repair of mobile mining equipment. Will perform troubleshooting and repair of the following components: engines, transmissions, hydraulic systems, drive motors, final assemblies and electrical systems. Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
* Troubleshoot, repair and maintain mobile mining equipment in a safe and timely manner as assigned by Shift Supervisor
* Utilize electronic computer-based programs for troubleshooting and diagnostics
* Perform preventative maintenance packets
* Able to utilize shop manuals and schematics
* Use proper rigging for hoisting heavy equipment components
* Troubleshoot and repair a/c system using manuals, gauges and a/c machine
* Test equipment to ensure proper repair has been done
* Safely move/maneuver large equipment (including 250 ton trucks, dozers, drills, and other) in close proximity to other equipment, persons and physical structures without endangering themselves or others due to vision (20/40 corrected both eyes) or hearing (vocal and mechanical warnings) deficiencies
* Maintain a clean and hazard free work area
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:
* High School Diploma or GED
* 5 years of mechanical experience in a mine setting, preferred
* With guidance, able to diagnose, troubleshoot and repair mine equipment. Ability to communicate effectively in English, both oral and written. Must be able to pass both a written and practical exam and obtain certification to operate a boom truck at minimum prior to advancing to the next level. Candidate may be required to operate service trucks and assist in fueling of mobile equipment.
The hourly pay range for this position: $24.61- $43.67, based on experience.
