What this job involves
Operates, inspects, and maintains all HVAC, refrigeration, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and production equipment and systems in assigned facilities to obtain most efficient operating results and life expectancy. Assures that equipment is being maintained in an energy efficient, safe manner and down time is reduced to a minimum by anticipation of necessary repairs keeping records of past operating experiences. Performs inspections and repairs to assigned property interior and exterior areas, including walls and flooring, installed fixtures, roofing systems, lighting, etc.
What is your day to day?
Performance of ongoing preventive and repair response work orders on facility mechanical, electrical and other installed systems, equipment, and other components.
Maintain, operate, and repair all HVAC/R systems and associated equipment, electrical distribution equipment, plumbing systems, building interior/exterior repair, and related grounds, and production equipment as it pertains to assigned buildings.
Study and become familiar with the various items of equipment, and the methods required to use them properly, that are required in everyday activities.
Perform assigned facility inspections and due diligence efforts, reporting on as found conditions impacting satisfactory client occupancy and operations.
Submit P-card Receipts Daily
Update work order status in real time
Utilize CMMS systems such as Corrigo for all work performed.
Desired experience and technical skills
Required:
MUST have commercial refrigeration experience (such as working with rack refrigeration).
High School Diploma or equivalent work experience
HVAC technicians must have a Universal CFC recovery certification (or within 90 days of employment)
Minimum of four (4) years of technical experience in all aspects of building engineering with a strong background in the technical aspects of HVAC/R, plumbing, electrical, production equipment repair and maintenance. Knowledge of overall system design and applications.
Candidate must possess and maintain a valid state driver's license
Preferred:
Working knowledge of computer applications including Word and Excel
Two years of trades school or documented apprenticeship in electrical systems, refrigeration and HVAC / R
Must be available for Call-in work and perform other duties as required

POSITION OBJECTIVE
The Grounds Maintenance division of Facilities Services is responsible for the grounds and landscape maintenance of the 267-acre campus. The activities of the landscaping and grounds professionals are highly visible and play an important role in promoting the ambiance of a park-like environment in a major urban setting. The maintenance of an attractive and safe campus is important in attracting and retaining faculty, staff and students. Promote communications between the maintenance, custodial, construction, landscaping, and administrative divisions of Facilities Services.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
* Perform lawn maintenance including cutting, edging, irrigation, chemical application of all campus groundcover including pedestrian walkways, football, baseball, track and field and other athletic facilities. Groundskeepers are responsible for identifying areas for reseeding and resodding. (28%)
* Perform snow and Ice removal including the clearing of all campus walkways, building entrances, emergency egress to maintain a safe and open campus environment. (22%)
* Perform general maintenance of campus grounds including debris removal, trash hauling and special pick-ups. (10%)
* Paint athletic fields in accordance with regulations for all sporting events. Assess the condition of the athletic fields to determine appropriate course of action to minimize risk of injury to student athletes. (9%)
* Perform bed maintenance including the planting, weeding and irrigation of all flowers, decorative beds on campus. (8%)
* Perform autumn maintenance including removal of leaves from all areas of the campus. (7%)
* Identify and assess diseases and pest problems in groundcover, lawns, trees and gardens to mitigate damage. (6%)

QUALIFICAITONS
Experience: 5 years of institutional, industrial, or commercial landscaping experience.
Education/Licensing: A high school education. A valid driver's license free of significant violations, must obtain Ohio driver's license within 30 days of hire.
REQUIRED SKILLS
* Individuals must be knowledgeable in the safe use and operation of power mowers, snow blowers and related equipment, and vehicles. Individuals must be aware of the safety exposures created by the use of this equipment to themselves and others.
* Must be experienced and knowledgeable in the use of specialized heavy equipment including, but not limited to, back hoes, bobcat, tow motors, chain saws, trenchers, tub grinders, and chippers.

WORKING CONDITIONS
The employee is directly exposed to animals, moving machinery, blood borne pathogens, chemicals, commercial cleaning solvents and oils, confined space entry and / or restricted access, excessive noise, fumes, dust, pesticides or herbicides, radioactive materials, and repetitive motion. Additional hazards directly related to this position include extreme weather conditions, cuts, scraps, bee stings, and insect bites. What you will do:
Assumes lead in troubleshooting and repairing machinery, equipment and facility structures to support the operation of the facility and the production processes.
Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on plant equipment according to prescribed schedules and procedures.
Assist in developing process improvement projects in support of the plant operations.
Perform fabrication projects as necessary to implement continuous improvement initiatives.
Assists, coaches, and teaches Apprentice I-IV level maintenance employees in order to pass on essential knowledge and skills to these employees.
Adhere to all plant rules and regulations.
Maintains positive attitude towards job and coworkers
Pay range: $33.00 an hour. Overtime after 48 hours is double time.

Knowledge, Skills, and Ability:
In -Depth Knowledge of Pneumatics, Hydraulics, three phase power systems, HVAC and cooling water systems operation and maintenance, and machine control systems and the ability to troubleshoot and repair these systems.
Formal education in industrial machine repair and maintenance including state issued journeymen card titled “Industrial Maintenance”.
Basic fabrication skills to include, but not limited to, stick and wire welding, metal fabrication machinery operation (ie. Lathe, mill, drilling operations, etc.), and understanding and ability to perform industrial machining, fabrication, and welding.
Ability to read and comprehend machine prints and schematics.
Attend and comprehend all training as deemed necessary by the plant management.

What You'll Tackle
Own the preventive maintenance program for presses and other manufacturing equipment.
Troubleshoot and repair electro-mechanical systems; test machines and sub-assemblies after service.

Porta Maintenance Role:
The Porta Maintenance Technician ensures continuity and reliability of Porta machining operations by performing preventive and corrective maintenance across mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and control systems. This role focuses on maximizing uptime of Porta mills and associated automation equipment while minimizing unscheduled downtime. The technician also contributes to continuous improvement of maintenance practices and supports production teams by quickly diagnosing and resolving equipment issues.
Porta Maintenance Technician Responsibilities:
• Ability to follow rules, instructions, guidelines and all other duties as assigned
• Team player with ability to interact with all departments
• Preventive Maintenance (PM): Develop, schedule, and execute preventive maintenance tasks for Porta equipment in accordance with manufacturer and plant standards. Maintain accurate PM logs, documentation, and equipment service records.
• Troubleshooting & Repairs: Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and control system faults on CNC machines, robots, and support equipment. Utilize root-cause analysis to minimize repeat failures and guide corrective actions. Respond promptly to breakdowns ensuring minimal production interruption.
• Mechanical & Electrical Systems: Perform component replacement/repair (spindles, ball screws, bearings, pumps, motors, drives, control boards, etc.). Inspect, align, and calibrate CNC machine components for precision performance. Work with PLC and CNC controls to test inputs/outputs and verify operational integrity.
• Continuous Improvement: Recommend upgrades or adjustments to improve machine reliability, efficiency, and safety. Participate in cross-functional teams for process or equipment improvement initiatives.
• Safety & Compliance: Adhere to all environmental, health, and safety policies including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO). Ensure equipment repairs comply with OSHA, NFPA, and local regulatory standards.
• Collaboration: Provide technical guidance to operators and production staff on proper machine usage and care. Support installation, setup, and commissioning new CNC machinery.
• Lift 50 lbs. and use a pallet jack, operate small hand tools for deburring and cutting or as directed
• Work hours as posted, being on time and at the place of work at the start of the shift
About You:
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Technical/vocational training in industrial maintenance, mechatronics, or a related field preferred.
• 5+ years of hands-on experience in maintenance of CNC lathes, mills, or other precision machining equipment.
• Proven background troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
• Familiarity with PLC/CNC control diagnostics (Fanuc, Siemens, Haas, or similar control platforms).
