Position Summary: The HIM Manager will provide the leadership necessary to support the operations of the Health Information Management Department. At this level the HIM Manager must ensure completeness, accuracy, integrity and security of health information and related databases; conduct database searches and prepare analysis reports; monitor the storage, retention and ROI. Supervisor will utilize analytical ability, communication, leadership and management skills. The Manager is responsible for developing a cohesive work flow of HIM department functions between changes of shifts. Incumbent will use knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, disease processes and health information management (medical record) science, computer applications in medical records as well as maintain understanding of current dynamics in the health care industry. Will participate in budget planning and control. Health Information clerks, Technicians, transcriptionists and coders will report directly to Manager. POSITION QUALIFICATIONS: Education: Require Associate degree related to Health Information Management with RHIT or RHIA Certificate Prefer Bachelor Degree in Health Information Science or related field management program. Experience: Minimum three years in Health Information management with two years progressive supervisory experience. Proven analytical, communication, leadership and management skills. Hospital experience required. Training: Prefer supervisory, coaching education. Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, disease processes. Health information management (medical record) science, computer applications to medical records and health care industry dynamics. Maintains annual continuing education in the Health Information Management field. License/Registration/Certification: Certification as RHIT [Registered Health Information Technician or RHIA (Registered Health Information Administrator) *Pay Ranges listed are an estimate and subject to change.
