Duties Responsibilities
The Speech Language Pathologist / SLP is responsible for the assessment of referred patients that require treatment for speech, hearing and or language deficits. The Speech Language Pathologist / SLP will teach patients how to make sounds, improve their voices, or increase their oral or written language skills to communicate more effectively. Also, the Speech Language Pathologist / SLP will teach individuals how to strengthen muscles or use compensatory strategies to swallow without choking or inhaling food or liquid.
Provide skilled speech therapy services / interventions in accordance with physician orders.
Assesses patient needs, plans for, evaluates and modifies care to meet goals of speech therapy interventions.
Set realistic and achievable goals for patients to develop, or recover, reliable communication and swallowing skills so that the patient can fulfill their educational, vocational and social roles.

The Fellowship Program in Occupational Therapy is designed to provide the fellow with one year of post-graduate advanced practice which includes: training in patient clinical practice and professional development and may include research, operational/administrative duties or program development. The Occupational Therapist Clinical Resident at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, California evaluates and treats patients in accordance with the prescription of the physician. Provides patient care consistent with Scope of Practice Standards and Code of Ethics; the Plan for the Provision of Care to Patients, the Plan for Corporate Compliance, the Performance Improvement Plan and Patient Education Plan. They assist in the continuous quality improvement process and in the education and training of students, as applicable, and assists in divisional growth and cohesiveness to ensure a high quality of therapy care. Provides care maintaining safety of the environment, utilizing appropriate communication with sensitivity and attention to special populations, including patients with diverse cultural backgrounds, age, developmental issues and physical disabilities.

**Qualifications**
**Educational Requirements:**
+ Minimum: Master's Degree; graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy program.
