* Coordinate with quality assurance, planning, production, and NAVSEA and ABS representatives to validate welding methods and inspection criteria.
* Manage and develop welder workmanship and technology training to increase production rates
Education, Training and Experience:
* Bachelor's Degree in Welding Engineering, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, or related field; or High School Diploma/GED with 13 years of relevant experience.

Job Description:
Our Honolulu, Hawaii, office is seeking a Project Engineer to support our tunnel engineering group. We are looking for a motivated candidate with attention to detail, a passion to continue to develop as a professional, and a desire to be part of a strong multi-disciplinary team. This role will primarily support projects in Hawaii. Periodic travel will be required. Hybrid work arrangements are permitted.
Job Responsibilities:
Analyze and design components of challenging multidisciplinary infrastructure projects. Experience in the design of underground structures (tunnels, shafts, stations, etc.), trenchless, pipelines, reinforced concrete, geotechnical investigations and evaluation, hydrological analyses, slope stability, or retaining walls preferred.
Develop engineering recommendations and write technical reports
Prepare reports, plans, and specifications
Communicate effectively with Schnabel team members
Assist project managers with project coordination and administrative tasks
Manage and mentor junior engineers, commensurate with experience level

Required Skills/Experience:
A Bachelor's degree in civil engineering from an ABET-accredited institution.
5+ years of design- and/or construction-oriented consulting engineering experience.
A Professional Engineering license or EIT certification with future ability to become a Licensed Professional Engineer
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Attention to detail and well organized
Familiarity with heavy civil construction means and methods
Willingness and ability to perform field work and travel
Be physically able to navigate construction sites, enter trenches, climb ladders and work outside in various weather conditions.

Prepares company standards, policies, and procedures, ensuring conformance to federal and local codes.
Enforces appropriate safety rules and procedures; provides for a safe work environment. Complies with all written safety rules and procedures and reports all unsafe acts and conditions and corrects those within authority.
Keeps abreast of technological changes and developments in the industry and works with respective departments to implement viable changes.

Qualifications

Good working knowledge of NFPA 58, UFC, City and County Plumbing Codes and 49 CFR 192.

**Roles and Responsibilities**
+ Role is responsible for supplier processes, from initial qualification, maintenance, and necessary improvement driven by business quality needs.
+ Position includes regular supplier audits, in conjunction with our GE Aerospace process experts and system assessments for quality preparedness and process controls to remain adherent to GE Aerospace process specifications and agency regulations.
+ Requires specialized knowledge within the field of NDE, including but not limited to: CT Scanning & Ultrasonic evaluation processes. Influence the development of strategy for the area of responsibility, including control of resources and influences policy formulation.
+ Interprets simple internal and external business challenges and recommends best practices to improve products, processes, or services. Stays informed of industry trends that may inform work. Coordinating with the GE Aerospace Inspection Solutions (AIS) experts and operations teams and their approved supplier technical plans, to ensure product meets the approved process requirements and specifications.
