Position: Electrical Maintenance Technician II Shift: 2nd Shift (Monday to Friday, 2:30 PM- 11 PM) or AWS Days or Nights Compensation: Up to $40 per hour, depending on Experience Overview of Role: The Maintenance Technician II will be based in the steel mill, where they will perform a variety of maintenance tasks with a strong focus on electrical systems and equipment. This role requires advanced troubleshooting and repair skills related to electrical components, along with working knowledge of mechanical systems. The Maintenance Technician II is essential in ensuring the reliability and safety of mill operations, contributing to both day-to-day maintenance and long-term equipment performance goals. Requirements: Required Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent (technical certification or an associate's degree in industrial maintenance, mechanical, electrical engineering, or a related field is preferred). 3+ years of experience in mechanical, electrical, or facilities maintenance, with hands-on experience in troubleshooting and repairing equipment. Proficient in using maintenance tools, including hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment such as multimeters and vibration analyzers. Strong understanding of preventive maintenance strategies and practices to ensure equipment reliability. Ability to diagnose mechanical and electrical problems and perform necessary repairs or adjustments with minimal supervision. Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices in maintenance, including lockout/tagout procedures, confined space entry, and handling hazardous materials. Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and blueprints. Experience with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) for tracking maintenance activities and generating reports. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively report issues and document maintenance tasks. Desired Qualifications: Certification in industrial maintenance, HVAC, electrical systems, or mechanical systems (e.g., EPA certification, OSHA certification). Experience with building automation systems (BAS), programmable logic controllers (PLCs), or other industrial control systems. Previous experience in manufacturing, industrial, or facilities maintenance environment. Familiarity with project management software or tools used for scheduling and tracking maintenance tasks Technology Requirements: Proficiency in maintenance management software (CMMS) to track and log work orders, maintenance tasks, and equipment performance. Other Requirements: Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and on-call shifts as required. Technical: Must be able to troubleshoot electrical (up to 480 v and 3-phase), electronic (up to 24v DC) , and mechanical problems, circuit boards, motors, transformers and PLCs; and read blueprints, electrical and electronic specifications, schematics, and diagrams or technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form. Must be able to operate forklift, hand/ power tools; electrical/electronic test equipment (i.e. multi-meter, oscilloscope, etc.); and cutting/welding equipment to cut or join metal parts. Compensation: Rate: $24.30 per hour becomes a union role after the probationary period Responsibilities: Conduct routine inspections of the building to identify and address maintenance issues. Perform preventive maintenance on equipment, machinery, and building systems. Repair and maintain plumbing, electrical (120 volt), and HVAC systems. Possess knowledge of welding for fabrication and repair purposes. Engage in basic carpentry work for doors, windows, flooring, and other building components. Assist Mechanics 1, 2, and 3 classifications as required. Respond promptly to maintenance requests and emergencies. Collaborate with other departments to address facility-related issues. Keep accurate records of maintenance and repair activities. Ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations. Coordinate with contractors for specialized repairs or installations. Maintain a clean and organized work environment. Qualifications: Proven experience as a Building Maintenance Technician or in a similar role. Strong knowledge of welding, basic plumbing, electrical (120 volt), carpentry, and general building maintenance. Ability to troubleshoot and repair a variety of maintenance issues. Experience in assisting Mechanics 1, 2, and 3 classifications. Good communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Basic computer skills for record-keeping purposes. Physical ability to lift and carry heavy objects, climb ladders, and perform manual tasks. High school diploma or equivalent; relevant certifications are a plus.
