The Behavioral Health Specialist works under the supervision of the Clinical Supervisor/Manager and is responsible for providing case management services to a diverse clientele of children and families with mentalhealth and substance use diagnoses. Services may be provided via telehealth, outpatient offices, and/or community-based settings.
Essential Functions:
Demonstrate the values and guiding principles of OhioGuidestone every day, performing with the highest standards of excellence, integrity and ethics.
Monitor client symptoms as well as response to treatment; communicate changes with treatment team to ensure immediate and appropriate interventions
Develop and maintain a service relationship with client, family, and caregivers to provide them support as appropriate.
Coordinate community resources including school, referral sources and outpatient behavioral health providers to ensure continuity of care; acts as an advocate for the client as needed.
Provide crisis intervention consultation in times of emergencies for coordination and assistance in crisis management and stabilization as needed.
Facilitate appointments to ensure overall physical well-being including basic, mentalhealth and substance use needs.
Review Diagnostic Evaluation and additional assessments, to aid in the ongoing development and implementation of a client's individualized treatment plan (ITP).
Attend and participate in agency/ team/clinical meetings, including mandatory trainings, and treatment coordination.
Perform related administrative responsibilities; maintain client information, reports, records, and other documents; respond timely to emails and phone calls; attend and participate in various trainings and meetings; communicate with other agencies, departments, and vendors regarding required paperwork, contract compliance and consult with other county agencies and/or supportive services as necessary.
Accurately and promptly, document and maintain the confidentiality of client and family interactions including, legal, financial, and clinical documentation within agency guidelines.
Meet with Supervisor for weekly supervision.
Maintain ongoing frequent contact with other assigned OhioGuidestone professionals, parents or outside agency professionals assigned to case.
Exhibit positivity, flexibility and a willingness to take on new responsibilities as requested or required.
Demonstrate positive leadership, promote a team-based work environment and a culture of belonging.
Present the Agency in the most positive light with all internal and external contacts.
* Therapeutic Behavioral Service (TBS) service activities include, but are not limited to the following: (a) Consultation with a licensed practitioner or an eligible provider, to assist with the individual's needs and service planning for individualized supports or care coordination of healthcare, behavioral healthcare, and non-healthcare services and development of a treatment plan; (b) Referral and linkage to other healthcare, behavioral healthcare, and non-healthcare services to avoid more restrictive levels of treatment; (c) Interventions using evidence-based techniques; (d) Identification of strategies or treatment options; (e) Restoration of social skills and daily functioning; and, (f) Crisis prevention and amelioration.
Education/Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent
Three years relevant experience and able to demonstrate competencies in basic behavioral health skills, for example:
Understanding of human behavior, mental illness, psychiatric symptoms, and impact on functioning and behavior.
understanding how to therapeutically engage a mentally ill person, concepts of recovery/resiliency
understanding of the mentalhealth system; de-escalation techniques
Understanding of principles, methods, and procedures for diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of emotional and mental dysfunctions.
Understanding of group behavior and dynamics, societal trends and influences, human migrations, ethnicity, and cultures and their history and origins.
Relevant experience or course of study in behavioral healthcare helpful
Qualifications:

BASIC FUNCTION
To conduct investigations for involuntary mentalhealth and substance use treatment under RCW 71.05 and RCW 71.34.
Job Duties
STATEMENT OF ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES
* Conducts investigations and evaluations of individuals for involuntary commitment and detains individuals when legal criteria are met and commitment is appropriate.
* Assesses behavioral health emergencies and provides crisis intervention for individuals experiencing a behavioral health crisis in the community.
* Works collaboratively with behavioral health agencies, psychiatrists, emergency departments, inpatient units, residential facilities and other referral sources to assure the best outcome for each individual in need of behavioral health services.
* Coordinates and facilitates arrangements necessary for the holding of probable cause hearings for patients hospitalized in our county in need of continued involuntary treatment; provides court testimony concerning patient's need for further involuntary treatment.
* Performs ongoing community regarding involuntary treatment.
* Contacts appropriate hospitals for admissions, provides screening information and arranges for transport as needed.
* Participates in the ITA Court process and provides relevant information to prosecuting attorneys and others authorized through the judicial process.
* Maintains necessary records and files as well as statistical information on all program activities.
* Performs related duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications
A master's degree in social work, clinical psychology, psychiatric nursing or related field; PLUS, two (2) years of experience in the direct treatment of mentally ill clients; OR, any equivalent combination of training and/or experience which provides the required knowledge and abilities. PLUS, a valid and current license as a Licensed MentalHealth Counselor, Licensed Social Worker or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. Must pass job related tests.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
A valid State of Washington Driver's License is required for employment.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENT
Due to a potential conflict of interest any secondary employment within the behavioral health field needs to be approved by the employer.

SUPERVISION

Employees work independently on specific assignments which are completed in accordance with established guidelines, practices and regulations. Work is reviewed through meetings, status reports and results obtained.
WORKING CONDITIONS
The majority of the work involves site visits to residences, hospitals, mentalhealth agencies and detention facilities. Some work is performed in the usual office environment. The employee may be required to work evenings, weekends and holidays to provide 24 hour a day, 7 day coverage.

Position Information: The Longview Police Behavioral Health Unit (BHU), comprised of Crisis Response Specialists working under the general direction of a Police Sergeant, works in collaboration with police personnel to respond to incidents involving individuals that are experiencing a behavioral health crisis. Through this program, Crisis Response Specialists assist police officers with situational de-escalation and crisis intervention as co-responders. BHU resources also provide emergency responders with additional options to divert individuals to behavioral health resources as an alternative to incarceration which have not been readily available in the past. BHU members cultivate and maintain professional relationships with organizations in the community that provide behavioral health resources to direct and refer individuals to the appropriate community resources. These resources could include in-patient and outpatient mentalhealth and SUD services, respite care, primary care clinics, and other support services. BHU members work closely with the department's Community Outreach Coordinator addressing individuals in crisis due to homelessness. BHU members also assist the department's Community Outreach Coordinator in following up on individuals who are in the Therapeutic Court program. In addition to responding with officers to incidents, the Crisis Response Specialists have access to view pending police calls for service within the computer-aided-dispatch system. When it is safe and appropriate, Crisis Response Specialists may respond to incidents involving community members experiencing a behavioral health crisis without a police officer present.
This position is Grant funded and is a limited duration position with the possibility of being extended.

INTRODUCTION:
The David C. Wynecoop Memorial Health Center is seeking a mentalhealth clinical counselor to join the Behavioral Health department. This position reports to the Behavioral Health Manager . The position provides outpatient counseling support to clients of the Health Center individuals residing on or around the Spokane Indian Reservation.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provides direct outpatient psychotherapy services to individuals, couples, families and groups, by performing mentalhealth and substance abuse assessments, develops and implements treatment plans and evaluates treatment outcomes with the ability to assess both mentalhealth and substance abuse diagnoses.
Develops appropriate treatment plans for clients. Maintains all notes of sessions current with no greater than a 72 hour lag from pt session.
Carries a client workload sufficient to generate on average 7-8 sessions daily.
Develops and facilitates individual and group sessions according to the needs of the client population as well as being able to facilitate these groups. Which may include both mentalhealth and substance abuse counseling, using a multi-modality approach.
Provide counseling for all areas of mental illness including but not limited to individual, marital/family dysfunction, child, abuse/neglect and substance issues (including urine drug screens as indicated).
Provides substance abuse/addictions education to clients and families.
Recommends and arranges referrals for specialized treatment and provides follow-up care.
Functions as a primary therapist and case manager for a given number of clients.
Participates in case conference and provides consultation to other professional staff.
Follows all policies of DCWMHC, including strict compliance with HIPAA , is up to date clinical records, and other documentation as required.

INTRODUCTION:
The David C. Wynecoop Memorial Health Center is seeking a mentalhealth clinical counselor to join the Behavioral Health department. This position reports to the Behavioral Health Manager . The position provides outpatient counseling support to clients of the Health Center individuals residing on or around the Spokane Indian Reservation.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provides direct outpatient psychotherapy services to individuals, couples, families and groups, by performing mentalhealth and substance abuse assessments, develops and implements treatment plans and evaluates treatment outcomes with the ability to assess both mentalhealth and substance abuse diagnoses.
Develops appropriate treatment plans for clients. Maintains all notes of sessions current with no greater than a 72 hour lag from pt session.
Carries a client workload sufficient to generate on average 7-8 sessions daily.
Develops and facilitates individual and group sessions according to the needs of the client population as well as being able to facilitate these groups. Which may include both mentalhealth and substance abuse counseling, using a multi-modality approach.
Provide counseling for all areas of mental illness including but not limited to individual, marital/family dysfunction, child, abuse/neglect and substance issues (including urine drug screens as indicated).
Provides substance abuse/addictions education to clients and families.
Recommends and arranges referrals for specialized treatment and provides follow-up care.
Functions as a primary therapist and case manager for a given number of clients.
Participates in case conference and provides consultation to other professional staff.
Follows all policies of DCWMHC, including strict compliance with HIPAA , is up to date clinical records, and other documentation as required.
Provides pre-admission screening and aftercare counseling in conjunction with community-based clinics.
Attends all mandatory staff meetings and in-services.
Work to promote cooperative staff efforts to provide and maintain high quality service to patients.
Works within the parameters of health insurance mandates as well as managed care programs.
Implements approved methods of treatment to meet goals and objectives, with completed regular reporting requirements.
Performs other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
Providing a comprehensive interdisciplinary service to David C. Wynecoop Memorial Health Center clients with mentalhealth, substance or alcohol abuse and co-occurring disorders.
Responsible for conducting initial assessments, evaluations and interpretation in developing appropriate interventions and/or treatment/recovery plan for client through individual or group therapy plans.
An understanding of the concepts related to cultural components, medical and social factors influencing the lives of persons who are suffering from substance or alcohol abuse and mentalhealth issues as well as how it affects families.
Knowledge and experience in clinical interviewing practices and procedures; working with diverse mentalhealth issues including trauma and generational trauma.
Ability to effectively communicate the goals of the treatment program to clients, maintain effective relationships with community organizations and agencies, addictions screening and generates referrals as required.
Facilitate an effective interpersonal relationship with clients, families and community in maximizing continued interest while keeping professional boundaries.
Skills in organizing, planning, and facilitating support/therapy groups. Ability to complete accurate documentation such as but limited to, comprehensive assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, correspondences, group therapy notes, and all other required documentation in a timely manner per the established policies, procedures and requirements related to client electronic medical record keeping.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
May be LPCC, LMHC, LMFT, LICSW-R, LICSW, Or Associate in any of these areas.

Provide crisis intervention consultation in times of emergencies for coordination and assistance in crisis management and stabilization as needed.
Facilitate appointments to ensure overall physical well-being including basic, mentalhealth and substance use needs.
Review Diagnostic Evaluation and additional assessments, to aid in the ongoing development and implementation of a client's individualized treatment plan (ITP).
Attend and participate in agency/ team/clinical meetings, including mandatory trainings, and treatment coordination.
Perform related administrative responsibilities; maintain client information, reports, records, and other documents; respond timely to emails and phone calls; attend and participate in various trainings and meetings; communicate with other agencies, departments, and vendors regarding required paperwork, contract compliance and consult with other county agencies and/or supportive services as necessary.
Accurately and promptly, document and maintain the confidentiality of client and family interactions including, legal, financial, and clinical documentation within agency guidelines.
Meet with Supervisor for weekly supervision.
Maintain ongoing frequent contact with other assigned OhioGuidestone professionals, parents or outside agency professionals and social service agencies assigned to case.

Therapeutic Behavioral Service (TBS) service activities include, but are not limited to the following:
Consultation with a licensed practitioner or an eligible provider, to assist with the individual's needs and service planning for individualized supports or care coordination of healthcare, behavioral healthcare, and non-healthcare services and development of a treatment plan;
Case management, referral and linkage to other healthcare, behavioral healthcare, social service agencies and non-healthcare services to avoid more restrictive levels of treatment;
Interventions using evidence-based techniques;
Identification of strategies or treatment options;
Restoration of social skills and daily functioning; and,
Crisis prevention and amelioration.
Education/Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent required, Associates or Bachelors degree preferred
Three years relevant experience and able to demonstrate competencies in basic behavioral health skills, for example:
understanding of human behavior, mental illness, psychiatric symptoms, and impact on functioning and behavior;
understanding how to therapeutically engage a mentally ill person, concepts of recovery/resiliency
understanding of the mentalhealth system; de-escalation techniques
Understanding of principles, methods, and procedures for diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of emotional and mental dysfunctions.
Understanding of group behavior and dynamics, societal trends and influences, human migrations, ethnicity, and cultures and their history and origins.
Relevant experience or course of study in behavioral healthcare helpful

This position is under the direction of the Director of MentalHealth and/or Health Services Administrator. Provides assessment, diagnostics, treatment planning, individual and/or group therapy to patients at the Escambia County Jail as part of an established mentalhealth care program. This position is assigned to both inpatient and outpatient clinics within the jail. This position also takes call on a rotating basis (if licensed).
This is a "mandatory-testing" position that requires Drug Testing.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES
Follows all standards and patient care protocols, all federal, state, correctional health care standards, and the Escambia County Board of County Commissioner's policies, regulations, and guidelines
Collects data about patients through interview, case history, psychological tests, and/or observational techniques; evaluates data to identify causes of problems and determines proper therapeutic approaches or referral to other specialists
Provides counseling, therapy, and/or psychotherapy to patients as appropriate to the position
Prepares treatment and follow-up programs
Provides therapeutic crisis intervention and emergency services as required
Responsible for complete and accurate documentation of care provided in the inmate's health record
Maintains health services records logs and assists with data entry within the scope of mentalhealth related items
Consults with other practitioners and related staff, as appropriate in the performance of therapeutic duties and/or casework
Follows up to determine reliability of treatment used and changes methods and degree of therapy when indicated
Participates in the review of clinical issues and program policies and procedures

TPICAL QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Qualification Requirements:
Training and Experience:
Master's degree in Counseling, Psychology, or Social Work, or, a combination of education and experience equivalent to these requirements.
Must have at least Registered Intern status in MentalHealth Counseling, Social Work, or Marriage and Family therapy and must obtain license status within three years of hire
Preferred Qualifications:
Licensed MentalHealth Counselor (LMHC), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT)
Preference will be given to those Registered Interns who have already taken/passed the FL license exam
