If you do, Marion County Addiction Treatment Services is seeking an empathetic, motivated, and dedicated individual to add to our diverse and robust Certified Recovery Mentor team. Whether it is providing outreach in the community, responding to local medical establishments for overdose prevention calls, or supporting individuals in one of our many treatment programs, you will have the opportunity to utilize your lived experience to help the next individual toward a path of recovery. GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES Assist and support persons served in county addiction treatment programs in accessing community health and social services; refer persons served to appropriate resources; advocate to obtain required services as necessary; provide information and education on wellness-related issues. SUPERVISION RECEIVED Work under the general direction of a clinical supervisor or designee who assigns work, establishes goals and reviews the results obtained for overall effectiveness. SUPERVISION EXERCISED Supervision and lead work are not responsibilities of this classification. If an appointing authority assigns an employee to a full spectrum of lead worker duties, the county shall compensate the employee as described in the Marion County Personnel Rules. The incumbent in this position upholds confidentiality rules and regulations including HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2. Services may be delivered in person or via telehealth; services may be delivered in the following locations: office or in the community including settings necessary to deliver addiction counseling services (e.g., Behavioral Health Crisis Center, schools, hospitals, jail, courtroom, residences including transitional housing, etc.). The incumbent performs all the following using a person-centered, strength-based, recovery-oriented, trauma-informed, culturally sensitive, and ethically guided approach: * Builds rapport with people served. Identifies the needs of people served and their families; conducts outreach to engage people who would benefit from addiction treatment services and supports; applies crisis prevention, management, and de-escalation skills. * Assists in removing barriers to success; assists in transporting persons served to medical appointments, food pantry sites, shelter assistance, benefits programs, etc.; creates and maintains positive relationships with community partners; advocates on behalf of people served and in support of resource development. * Renders mentoring services and supports both in the office and in community settings necessary to deliver addiction counseling services and supports; works within a team; collaborates with coworkers and community partners; assists persons served in accessing the resources they need to recover from substance abuse problems; provides case management and care coordination services; assists in making timely referrals to other professionals, agencies, community programs, or appropriate resources; evaluates outcome of referrals. Builds rapport with people served. Identifies the needs of people served and their families; conducts outreach and on call response to engage people who would benefit from addiction treatment services and supports. * Timely documents services rendered in a professional, clear, accurate, and complete manner and in accordance with timelines set forth in policy. Conducts drug testing to include urine drug screens, oral swabs and breathalyzers; applies crisis prevention, management, and de-escalation skills. * Provides peer-facilitated Life Skills and Recovery Skills groups for all clients served. * Performs other job duties as assigned by the supervisor. Response Level 2: In the event of an emergency, employee makes a reasonable effort to report to work. Employee may be required to perform duties outside of their regularly assigned duties. Employee may be requested to work an extended or flexible schedule. Staff at this response level must complete Incident Command System 100 and 700 on-line or in-person training. EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING * High School diploma, or equivalent; AND * Two (2) years in recovery from previous substance use dependence. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS * Must possess or obtain within ninety (90) days of hire, a current MHACBO (Mental Health & Addiction Certification Board of Oregon) CRM certification (Certified Recovery Mentor). See MHACBO website for requirements. * Must possess a current driver's license in the applicant's state of residence and an acceptable driving history. Marion County will obtain a copy of the driving record for all qualified applicants from Driver and Motor Vehicle Services and review the driving record according to the Marion County policy and procedure for Driving on County Business. Schedule:Monday-Friday 8:30-5pm Location: 225 NW Couch St. Portland, OR 97209 Salary: $23.36 - $30.37/hr SUMMARY: The Recovery Mentor Specialist will conduct interventions with clients at the Hooper Center and other treatment institutions. The Mentor will escort and provide transportation for clients to initial post Detox treatment episodes, primary care providers, twelve-step meetings, and other outside support meetings. The Recovery Mentor will work with Hooper Staff and other Treatment Providers for potential referrals. The Mentor will work to prepare clients to continue on the path to self-sufficiency such as employment and stable housing. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Requires high school diploma, GED, or demonstrated ability to read and write at a sufficient level. Must be registered, prior to start, as a Certified Recovery Mentor (CRM) with MHACBO; OR be a certified Peer Support Specialist (or Peer Wellness Specialist) AND be registered as a Traditional Health Worker (THW) on the THW Registry.
