    MG2, an affiliate of Colliers Engineering & Design, is seeking a talented Architecture & Interior Design Student Intern for the Winter Quarter/Spring Semester to join our Design Lab in our Seattle, WA office! The Design Lab Intern supports and maintains the work of the Design Lab (materials library). This is a part-time role that engages with stakeholders across the firm and externally. Through their work, the Design Lab Intern will gain a deeper understanding about products, materials and the specification process. They will gain insight in and become familiar with the design process while supporting project teams across MG2 including our retail, hospitality, multi-family and industrial markets. Additionally, they will learn about sustainable materials and certifications to align with MG2 and other industry sustainability priorities. We're looking for someone detail-oriented, collaborative, and eager to learn, ready to roll up their sleeves and contribute to impactful, real-world projects alongside a team of passionate designers. Responsibilities Must be available for at least 20 hours per week or more, in office only. This is not a WFH or hybrid position. Schedule will be set around the intern's academic schedule. Expected duration will be 6-8 months. Maintain the cleanliness organization of the Lab. Oversee the sample returns area and regularly refile samples and coordinate regular sample returns with vendors. Support project teams and Materials Manager in sourcing of materials through sample requests, pricing and lead time inquires, collecting sustainability documentation, gathering options for review, creating material boards and other sourcing tasks as needed. Research sustainable products, sources, certifications and standards for both project-specific and general use. Regular data updates to vendor database and other Design Lab spreadsheets. Support the Materials Manager in day-of execution of vendor events and presentations. Foster and maintain professional and productive relationships with vendors and designers. Attend vendor and internal events and presentations to learn about product releases, material knowledge, industry insights and firm priorities. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications Currently pursuing a design-oriented degree focused on Interior Architecture, Interior Design, Architecture, Industrial Design or adjacent industries at a 2nd year level or above. Proficient with Microsoft Office programs including Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and Word. Familiar with other design-related programs such as Adobe Creative Suite, CAD software (AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, and rendering programs are useful but not required). Ability to read, write and understand English for purposes of comprehending written job-related communications and verbal instructions and interactions. Assistant Designer Responsibilities: • Must adhere to the established time and action product development calendar. • Ability to react to fast-track TPs, lab-dips, SO's styles as per customer needs. •Partner with Merchandising throughout the design process from ideation through final BOM review pass off. • Responsible for all PLM Tech Pack and BOM, artwork pitch & design detail sheet creation. • Responsible for the review, comments and approval of all seasonal lab dips, strike-offs, trims from development through production. • Organize and maintain seasonal lab dip and print strike off developments folders. • Research market trends in color, styles, silhouettes (knits, wovens, outerwear, sweaters), prints within golf (sports) market and lifestyle sectors. • Identify additional brand applicable trend & opportunities for discussion. • Remain current with competitor products and trends. • Assist in creating seasonal color palettes. Assist with sketching then CADing collection using Adobe Illustrator/photoshop programs. • Assist in building Collection and SMS line sheets. • Design and develop on-product trim, i.e., buttons, zippers, tapings that are relevant to the products. Assistant Designer Qualifications: • 0-2 Years of relevant design experience • Ability to work in a fast-paced design driven environment interacting with several cross functional divisions. • Must have strong color sensibility. • Passion for the product development process. • Eye for tasteful, casual sportswear & activewear. Excellent design and sketching skills. • Strong Adobe Illustrator and photoshop skills. • Punctuality & dependable attendance. • Proficiency in: WebPLM, Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, Windows (Outlook / Word / Excel). • No job too small attitude • Bachelor's Degree Experience Required
