The lab works closely with our invasive cardiology (structural heart, electrophysiology, diagnostic/interventional cath) and cardiothoracic surgery services. The Sentara RMH Heart and Vascular team is comprised of cardiologists, electrophysiologist, vascular surgeons, cardiothoracic surgeons, and interventional cardiologists who've received their education and training at some of the finest medical schools in the nation.     The Cardiac Sonographer reports to the Cardiac Service Line Director/ Manager. This role performs various modalities of cardiac ultrasound including transthoracic echo, stress echo, and assistance in transesophageal echo. This role also performs other noninvasive testing to include electrocardiograms and application of holter monitors. Cardiac Sonographer is accountable for the preparation of preliminary interpretation reports for echocardiograms, billing procedures, study transmittal and coverage of satellite sites. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Performs echocardiograms in accordance with lab standards while meeting daily volume expectations. Responds to emergent exams is a timely manner. Follows department workflows for reporting, billing and standard daily performance. Ensures patient care is provided in clean, safe, quiet, and secure environment. Renders excellent patient care to patients and families. All hospital related interactions are courteous and confidential and in accordance with HIPAA regulations. Demonstrates the knowledge and ability to deliver developmental and age-appropriate care to patients. Assists supervisor and will serve as first line of contact for questions and/or concerns from technologists and physicians. Able to perform adult and pediatric general ultrasound exams. Able to perform vascular exams. Weekend rotation, night rotation and holiday rotation required as needed. Works to maintain satisfactory working relationships with Ultrasound supervisor, Radiology Director, physicians, ancillary departments, patients, patient's family, and visitors. Responsible patient care, supplies, and equipment maintenance. Continues to develop professionalism through continuing education programs and in-services. Complies with all policies of the system with the intention of delivering the highest quality of service. Performs all other duties as assigned. Work Schedule: PRN (As Scheduled). The position is for weekend coverage only. The position will cover Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 2:30pm - 11pm when needed.
