Purpose
The R&D Signal and Information Processing SoftwareDeveloper will support softwaredevelopment and integration of real-time mid-frequency active sonar processing capabilities, including algorithm design, implementation, verification, and performance analysis, within the Signal and Information Sciences Laboratory's (SISL) Active Sonar Group.
Responsibilities
* Work closely with project leadership and stakeholders to identify software requirements, plan development and integration related tasking, and ensure technical execution matches design goals.
* Communicate and collaborate with team members to design and develop new software features and maintain existing software solutions.
* Lead software tasking and development for all software engineering phases and provide regular status updates to project leadership. Support the delivery of high-quality software by prioritizing testing and incorporating testing methodologies throughout the softwaredevelopment lifecycle.
* Lead software integration activities by working closely with external collaborators to integrate software components into the tactical sonar systems. Troubleshoot and debug issues identified during integration activities and acceptance testing in support of on-time delivery of the system.
* Participate in code reviews and ensure development best practices are followed to adhere to existing coding standards and performance requirements. Document and improve process, as needed.
* Document software design and implementation, support procedures, and troubleshooting guides to foster knowledge sharing across the team. Document and address issues.

Required Qualifications
* Master's degree in Electrical, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Math, Physics, or other related discipline.
* Three years of experience in softwaredevelopment.
* Demonstrated proficiency with C++ softwaredevelopment in Linux
* Thorough understanding of object-oriented programming concepts, data structures, design patterns, and algorithm performance analysis.
* Thorough understanding of the softwaredevelopment lifecycle, testing methodologies, and utilization of common application debugging and performance profiling tools.
* Experience troubleshooting complex software systems.
* Experience with Linux and open-source software tools for creating, testing, and documenting code.
* Experience working collaboratively in a team using modern softwaredevelopment practices including version control, issue tracking, and automated testing.
* Familiarity with Bash or similar scripting language
* Familiarity with basic signal processing concepts
Applicant must have a dynamic skill set, willing to work with new technologies, be highly organized and capable of planning and coordinating multiple tasks and managing their time. The position will require attention to detail, effective problem-solving skills and excellent judgment. * Experience defining, interpreting, and working with custom binary data formats.
* Experience optimizing software for psuedo real-time execution within a constrained computational footprint.
* Experience with TCP/IP and UDP socket programming in Linux.
* Experience with containerization and orchestration.
* Experience with user interface design and implementation; experience with Qt.
* Experience using CI/CD tools and Agile processes.
* Proficiency with Python or other higher level languages to increase productivity when appropriate.

Purpose
The SoftwareDeveloper will design, develop, and integrate high-performance software for advanced semiconductor manufacturing equipment. This role focuses on hardware-software integration, motion control, sensor and camera systems, and real-time automation used across multiple equipment systems at the Texas Institute for Electronics (UT Austin).
Responsibilities

In the Advanced Technology Laboratory's (ATL) Special Warfare Division, we deliver the Navy's most advanced undersea sensing and communications technologies. Job Details:
Purpose
This is a Research and Development position within the Environmental Sciences Lab (ESL). The individual will contribute to research and development tasks within ESL.
Responsibilities
Develop & implement production grade software and analysis tools in a production language including underwater propagation models, signal processing algorithms, array processing techniques, acoustic analysis tools.
Process and/or analyze acoustic data, array data, propagation data. Develop processing algorithms and assess their performance. Interpret results.
Implement research grade software and analysis tools in Matlab including underwater propagation models, signal processing algorithms, array processing techniques, acoustic analysis tools.
Preparation and review of analysis presentations and reports. Presentation of analysis results at internal and external working group meetings (includes travel).
Support collaborative research efforts with other team members. Possible supervision of junior personnel (including student employees). Develop analysis plans. Assist in proposing and pursuing new work.
Other related functions as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in computer/software engineering, computer science, or other applied sciences and three years of experience in the same.
Three years demonstrated experience in object-oriented software design and development.
Demonstrated ability with Linux and open-source software tools for code development, testing, version control, and documentation.
Applicant must be highly organized, have excellent attention to detail, and possess sound scientific judgment. The position will require effective management of their own time with the ability to plan, coordinate, and execute multiple tasks simultaneously. Ability to work independently with sensitive and confidential information, maintain a professional demeanor, and effectively communicate with all groups of clients. Regular and punctual attendance in the workplace is required.
US Citizen. Applicant selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information at the level appropriate to the project requirements of the position.
Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree in computer/software engineering, computer science, or other applied sciences and five years of experience in the same.
Experience designing, developing, debugging, and deploying production-grade software.
Demonstrated experience applying software engineering principles of modularity, maintainability, testability, usability, etc. in software design and development.
Demonstrated experience developingsoftware in Matlab, Python, C++, and/or Java.
Experience performing data processing, physics-based modeling and simulation, and analysis with scientific computing languages and tools.
Experience working in both Windows and Linux environments.
Experience documenting analysis results in technical reports and Powerpoint presentations and presenting research results to technical and non-technical audiences.
Proven ability to work independently, formulate research plans, take initiative.
Cumulative GPA of 3.0.
