    Annual salary: up to £35,278.74 Cap & Cove Multi-skilled Operative Contract: Full Time Permanent Salary up to £35,278.74 per annum, plus, company van & fuel card 42.5 hours per week (8-5 Monday- Friday) We're on the lookout for a talented and versatile Multi-Skilled Operative to join our team, supporting a busy responsive repairs contract in Bexley. This is a dynamic, hands-on role where you'll be responsible for delivering high-quality repairs and maintenance across a range of trades, ensuring residents' homes are safe, functional, and well cared for. You'll be working across occupied properties, responding to day-to-day repair requests that cover Floor laying, cap & cove, carpentry, plumbing and more. No two days are the same, and your ability to adapt, problem-solve, and deliver excellent customer service will be key to your success. With a strong pipeline of work and a commitment to improving social housing standards, this is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a team that's making a real difference in the community. We're looking for someone reliable, skilled across multiple trades, and passionate about getting the job done right the first time. Duties: * Carry out day-to-day responsive repairs across occupied properties * Prepare subfloors, ensuring surfaces are clean, level, and ready for installation * Accurately measure, cut, and fit vinyl flooring to cap and cove standards * Weld seams and finish edges to achieve a hygienic, watertight seal (equipment will be provided) * Install skirting and upstands to create smooth transitions between floor and wall surfaces * Carry out repairs and maintenance on existing cap and cove installations * Undertake minor carpentry and plumbing tasks when required to support site works * Always ensure compliance with health and safety standards * Work independently and as part of a team to meet deadlines and deliver high‑quality results * Undertake minor carpentry tasks such as fitting skirting boards, repairing door frames, or assembling fixtures * Carry out basic plumbing tasks including installing or repairing taps, fixing leaks, and connecting appliances Role Criteria: * Proven experience in floor laying, particularly cap and cove * Full UK driving licence * Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively * Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills * Excellent customer service skills, with experience working in occupied homes * Good understanding of health and safety regulations and safe working practices * Ability to use handheld devices or job management systems to record work * Willingness to participate in out-of-hours emergency rota Benefits we can offer you. * 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays * Annual Mears Fun Day - Our annual Fun Day is organised as a massive thank you from the Executive team for all the hard work! * Volunteering Leave - Mears supports employees to undertake paid volunteering in the community, in support of our social value commitment. * Staff perks with Mears Rewards - discounts of up to 10% weekly groceries, holidays, eye test vouchers, Share save scheme, plus much more. * Family friendly policies * Company Van, Fuel Card, and Uniform All our roles require candidates to have the entitlement to work within the UK, Mears does not currently offer visa sponsorship. About the role: Perform manual warehouse duties including loading and unloading inventory, moving supplies timely and correctly from the warehouse to production environment for use by print and insert operators. Maintain equipment, and ensure a clean, organized warehouse environment with proper inventory control. Schedule: 2:00 pm to 10:30 pm Monday through Friday, with possible weekends. What you will be doing: • Loads and unloads goods and supplies. • Packs, labels, and tags inventory. • Moves paper and envelopes from warehouse to production environment for use by print and insert operators, ensuring correct materials are selected from inventory and moved to appropriate production equipment. • Ensures proper handling of inventory to avoid damage. • Tracks any damaged inventory and reports to supervisor. • Conducts cycle counting of inventory and manages daily log registers. • Maintains and updates data in warehouse inventory system. • Maintains quality standards, ensuring cleanliness and proper stocking of inventory in the work area. • Returns overflow inventory back to warehouse and updates warehouse inventory system. • Removes cardboard and trash from production environment. • Operates baling and recycling systems. • Maintains and services warehouse equipment, e.g., forklifts, trucks, railcars. • Coordinates work with warehouse associates, supervisors, and other team members. • Follows safety regulations. • Other related duties assigned as needed.
