Responsibilities
Apprentice Diesel Mechanics are to perform maintenance services in which the volume and quality of work is within the acceptably measures standards for a Dayton Freight Lines.
Learns to perform basic maintenance and part replacement procedures by observing, assisting and asking questions
Assist senior technicians when asked to do so
Develop skills in the diagnosis and repair of all DFL tractor components
Learn to effectively and efficiently perform PM inspections and services
Perform service calls

Duties/Responsibilities:
Consults with Service Supervisor to plan effective work and travel schedule, giving priority to customer need, considering location of machine and availability of parts.
Diagnoses malfunctions: repairs and/or replaces worn and defective parts; installs new assemblies, adjusts devices and controls - to correct malfunctions and to keep machines in operating condition.
Provides tools and parts and arranges for facilities to perform repair work (usually on customer premises).
Inspects, operates, and tests machines upon initial delivery, at specified inspection intervals and upon completion of any repair work to ensure proper functioning of equipment and its components.
Reports to Service Supervisor such information as name of customer, description of machine, nature of malfunction, the time involved in working, driving, and waiting, mileage, etc., so that proper accounts can be charged, and proper billing can be made.
Strives to increase technical skills through attendance at company-sponsored vocational schools, annual training meeting of departmental personnel and reading of technical literature.

The core responsibilities of this role include;
* Packaging Machinery Maintenance is primary focus
* Performing preventative maintenance on multiple types of equipment to ensure optimal functionality.
* Executing installations and changes related to warehouse operations
* Read manuals and identify parts as needed for repairs and maintenance tasks.
Position: Mechanic
Shift: 2nd (3:00 PM to 11:00 PM)
Pay: $23/hr
Additional Incentives: $1.00 shift differential

Role Purpose:
Maintain and repair the warehouse vehicles including all forklift, trailers, conveyors and power equipment. Provide mechanical support, including diagnosis and solution, for a dedicated delivery system including preventative maintenance, major repairs, and accident repairs.
Key Accountabilities:
* Schedule daily maintenance work.
* Perform all repairs on forklifts, conveyors, maintenance equipment and other warehouse power equipment.
* Perform preventative maintenance programs on all machines and equipment.
* Review pre-trip and post-trip inspection forms for immediate maintenance requirements.
* Ensure all maintenance work performed both internally and externally is performed to company standards.
* Monitor vehicle condition and performance to ensure driver compliance of company driving policies.
* Manage parts inventory at the most economic level for efficient operation of the system.
* Maintain a clean, neat and orderly work area.
Required Education and Experience:
* Pass Department of Transportation exam
* Pass a mechanical aptitude test
* 6 months related experience
* 2-5 years equipment maintenance experience
* 1 year of fleet experience
