Responsibilities:
The mechanic will satisfactorily perform preventive maintenance and make repairs to school buses in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, as well as best practices and Indiana State Police inspection standards. Corporation vehicles (non-bus) will also be repaired and maintained. Bus changes and road calls will be performed as needed. Functions as a standby substitute bus driver as needed and other duties as assigned by the Transportation Supervisor.
Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Experience in heavy duty mechanics, and experience in using diagnostic equipment.
Posses an Indiana Class B Commercial Driver's License with public passenger, school bus and air brake endorsements, or be willing to obtain one.
ASE School Bus Technician certifications or other school bus mechanics training are a plus.
Working conditions include work in both hot and cold areas. Daily duties vary but include periods of strenuous work and extended periods of standing. The employee will frequently be required to work around or with equipment or in areas that are uncomfortably loud. The employee must be able to work safely with chemicals and cleaners including following procedures and using personal protective equipment when required. The employee will be required to work hands-on using power and hand tools to perform manual tasks and operate equipment. The employee is regularly required to bend, stoop, twist, climb, squat, kneel, reach, push, pull, carry and be able to lift up to 75 pounds.

Your Role as a Service Technician:
As a Service Technician at Tire Discounters, you'll perform various automotive services, including tire installation and maintenance, steering and suspension, alignments, brakes, engine diagnostic, drivability, and preventative, corrective, and routine maintenance services. You'll be key to ensuring the success of daily operations at your location.
What You'll Do:
* Provides accurate and timely quality vehicle inspection, maintenance and repairs, ensuring customer expectations are met or exceeded.
* Test drive vehicles before and after repairs to ensure functionality and overall safety.
* Maintain an organized, clean and safe work area.
* Foster a collaborative team environment and assist as needed.
Your Skills & Qualifications:
* 2+ years of automotive repair experience (ASE certifications preferred but not required).
* Must have own tools (tool purchase program available).
* Ability to operate automotive vehicle lifts, shop tools and equipment (diagnostic scanner experience a plus).
* Strong customer service, organizational, and communication skills.
* Ability to stand for long periods, bend, and lift up to 75 lbs.
* Valid driver's license and availability to work Saturdays.
* Comfortable with occasional exposure to mechanical hazards and outdoor conditions.
* Authorized to work in the USA (18+).
Compensation
Pay: $50,000 - $175,000+ annually (hourly + commission).
