A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A MECHANIC
As a Mechanic, you spend your day troubleshooting electrical systems on vehicles and performs required repairs. Your work typically involves repairing, adjusting brake, engine, electrical, fuel, hydraulic, transmission, ignition, air, exhaust, axle assemblies and related systems. Your job is essential to the city, and you perform ignition checks and charging systems for proper operation. You are constantly on your toes and ready for any new and unexpected challenges that may arise in the city. This can include maintaining records of services, time, and materials used in repairs of all city vehicles. When you are not out in the city, you generally maintain all vehicles in satisfactory condition to meet state inspection requirements, inventory of equipment, supplies/parts, and provides support equipment. You also ensure to provide emergency field assistance to disabled equipment and vehicles as needed. You enjoy being helpful and have no problem providing assistance and support to other divisions within the department as needed. QUALIFICATIONS FOR A MECHANIC
* High school diploma, GED or equivalency or Technical School Graduate with emphasis on automotive, diesel mechanics and/or automotive electrical systems.
* Preferred: Technical School Graduate with emphasis on automotive, diesel mechanics and/or automotive electrical systems. ASE Certified
* Three (3) years of experience in vehicle and engine maintenance and repair.
* Preferred: Five (5) years' experience in vehicle and engine maintenance and repair
* Must have a current and valid class "B" Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with Air Brake Endorsement from the Texas Department of Public Safety with a satisfactory driving record and insurable by the City's current insurance carrier.

Responsibilities
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair our customers Commercial Tractors and Trailers
Writing detailed work orders - working Mobile Road Calls and/or In Yard.
Provide quality customer service
Inspecting, troubleshooting, and repairing semi-truck and trailer bodies, systems, and components
Performing preventative maintenance measures on fleet semi-trucks and trailers
Maintaining hubs and axles and adjusting or replacing them when required
Inspecting, servicing, and replacing tractor and trailer parts, including tires
Checking and repairing the brake, electrical, and hydraulic system
Testing all systems and equipment for performance issues
Ensuring that trailers meet the U.S. Department of Transportation's road safety requirements.
Compiling inspection reports, documenting repairs, and reporting all findings to management.

Qualifications

· Perform skilled repairs of Volvo Penta Diesel Engines (16 L), Power Solutions International (21.9 L), Generac (21.9 L) and Marathon generator ends, as well as various voltage control and synchronizing equipment under supervision of senior technicians.

We are seeking a Maintenance Welder for our growing organization. The Maintenance Welder is responsible for performing skilled welding, fabrication, and general maintenance tasks to ensure the operational readiness, safety, and efficiency of all plant equipment, machinery, and facilities at the recycling yard. This role is crucial for minimizing downtime by quickly repairing and reinforcing machinery/heavy-duty equipment.

The CBP Aircraft Mechanic performs maintenance, overhaul, repair, inspection, and aircraft servicing functions on assigned aircraft within an aircraft maintenance and operations environment and in accordance with applicable instructions. Principal Accountabilities:
* Perform maintenance, preventive maintenance, inspection, repair, and modification of aircraft in accordance with 14 CFR and Department of Defense (DoD) regulations, technical manuals, and other data as applicable.
* Perform daily and turnaround inspections on all assigned aircraft.
* Perform inspections, corrosion control, troubleshooting and fault isolation on aircraft systems.
* May be required to fly on Government aircraft for relocation, to conduct in-flight checks (test flights) and to conduct trouble shooting that cannot be completed on the ground.
* May be required to perform official travel to temporary duty sites within and outside the United States.
* Furnish own hand tools to perform maintenance of aircraft (necessary special tools and test equipment will be furnished by the customer).
* May be required to perform other duties as required to support the overall mission.
Minimum Requirements:
* Must possess and maintain a valid State driver's license.
* Must be willing to subject themselves to random drug tests.
* Must be able to obtain and maintain a CBP Background Investigation Suitability clearance. Note: US Citizenship required to obtain clearance.
* High school graduate or have an equivalency certificate from an accredited program, is required.
* Must possess a valid FAA Mechanic certificate with Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) ratings.
* Must be competent and knowledgeable in the repair and maintenance of both fixed-wing and rotary-wing aircraft and aircraft systems to include airframes, structural, hydraulics, fuel and electrical systems, and aircraft engines.
* Must be competent and knowledgeable in system troubleshooting, reading and interpretation of schematics, blueprints, technical manuals and FAA, Company, and other Directives.
* Must be reliable and demonstrate good judgment.
* Able to follow base, federal and Company procedures for handling and disposal of hazardous waste materials.
* Ability to meet required deadlines and maintain necessary workflow.
* Ability to read, write, understand, and communicate in the English language and follow both verbal and written instruction.
* The ability to comprehend/interpret technical data.
Physical Requirements/Working Environment:
* Be physically able to perform aircraft mechanic duties.
* Ability to move freely about the interior and meet aircraft specific specs for weight limit.
* Stand, squat, sit, walk, work with arms overhead for extended periods of time.
* May be required to wear a respirator.
* Pull, push, and lift up to 50 lbs.
* On occasions, individuals may also be required to work in areas where high noise hazards prevail, thus requiring the use of adequate ear protection.
Preferred Qualifications:
* Prefer at least two years of experience working rotary-wing aircraft.
* UH-60 Blackhawk experience highly desired.

MECHANIC PAY GRADE: 110 - $34,175.00 minimum salary Purpose of Classification Performs technical work in repair and/or vehicle/equipment maintenance function. Duties include maintaining existing structures and grounds. Positions in this class perform routine maintenance and identify needed corrective actions to resolve discrepancies; answer maintenance questions; and maintain repair documents and records.
(This duties of this position include performing maintenance and repair on heavy equipment with diesel engines.)
Essential Functions
The following duties are normal for this position. The omission of specific statements of the duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification. Other duties may be required and assigned.
Performs tune-ups, oil changes, battery checks, tire and lubrication checks and other preventive maintenance on county automotive and mechanical equipment; transports vehicles/equipment needing repair and determines problem and necessary solution.
Performs needed repair work on county vehicles/equipment listed above using hoists, hand tools, gauges, drills, grinding wheels, testing devices, and such other tools and equipment as may be necessary; takes vehicles/equipment or parts needing repair to another shop in the event they cannot be repaired in-house.
Tests drives vehicles after repair to ensure that they are in proper working condition; may perform minor repair on stalled vehicles/equipment in the field; may perform some welding, braising, and soldering chores.
May operate various heavy equipment as needed and as time permits; may order and pick up supplies and parts if necessary, and perform such other duties as assigned.
Assists maintenance personnel with problems and ensures timely completion of work; works with power tools in a safe manner.
Maintains tools and machinery in good condition and uses all tools carefully and as instructed; may be expected to operate heavy equipment on occasion.

Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED; supplemented by three (3) years of experience performing technical and/or repair work as a mechanic or semi-skilled position; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. CDL License preferred.
