DMC and Tenet Healthcare, are seeking a full-time Physician Assistant to join our Pediatric Cardiovascular Surgery team in Detroit, MI. This position offers the opportunity to work alongside a collaborative group of orthopedic surgeons.
This will be a dynamic role working in the ICU and covering the clinical side of surgical treatment. Schedule will be Monday through Friday and based around normal business hours. While experience is always a plus, we are making the position open to new graduates.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

Participates in patient review conferences and staffing
Assists the physician as follows, but not limited to Utilization Review, Quality Assurance, Program Evaluation, Infection Control, Safety Committee activities
Adhere to the established policies and procedures of Tenet Physician Resources Orders and interprets the results of laboratory tests as part of the physical examination and health management.
Perform and oversee testing and other appropriate procedures.
Conducts health teaching and counseling during the physical exam, as appropriate, enabling the client to make informed choices about health and treatment options.
Provides consultative direction as needed for nursing, laboratory and clinic assistant staff.
Orders medications.

Prepare patients and rooms for treatments and minor procedures as directed by the Physician.
Obtain patient's past and current medical and ophthalmic history, including information regarding medications, allergies and family history of eye problems.
Identify any potential patient concerns and bring these issues to the attention of the Office Coordinator or Physician, as appropriate.

Instill eye drops as directed by the Physician.

Keep examination, treatment, laser and any other assigned rooms cleaned and stocked with supplies, and keep drug count up to date.

Your Role in a glance This role blends both clinical and front-desk responsibilities. You'll be the warm welcome at the front door and the compassionate hands in the exam room-ensuring every patient feels known, cared for, and supported throughout their visit.
How You'll Contribute
Patient Experience
Greet patients warmly and guide them through the check-in process, ensuring they feel valued from the moment they walk in.
Assist patients with digital check-in tools and troubleshoot any issues with ease.
Keep the lobby area organized, calm, and welcoming.
Coordinate smooth patient flow by communicating effectively with clinical and administrative teams.
Clinical Support
Escort patients to exam rooms and prepare them for visits.
Measure and record vital signs, update medical histories, and document key health information in the EHR.
Perform injections, vaccinations, and assist with procedures under provider direction.
Collect blood and urine samples as needed for diagnostic testing.
Educate patients on procedures and care instructions in a clear, compassionate way.
Schedule follow-up visits and support continuity of care.
Collaboration and Team Excellence
Work closely with the care team to ensure seamless coordination and exceptional service.
Support office operations, including daily opening/closing tasks and front-desk documentation.
Contribute to quality improvement and patient engagement initiatives.
What Makes You a Great Fit
Previous experience as a Medical Assistant, Medical Receptionist, or in a similar hybrid role.
Completed Medical Assistant coursework or equivalent hands-on experience.
Phlebotomy experience preferred.
Strong organizational and communication skills.
Comfortable with technology and electronic health records.
Team-oriented, proactive, and passionate about patient-centered care.
