Jefferson Radiology is seeking a patient-focused Medical Assistant to join our growing team!
SUMMARY: The Medical Assistant will provide superior support and assistance to patients as they prepare for various Radiology exams, including Interventional Radiology (IR) procedures. They will meet with patients to verify their histories and discuss protocols for their examinations and procedures.
DESIRED PROFESSIONAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
* Certified Medical Assistant, LPN, or EMT preferred. Note: If LPN may perform IV placement with additional training and RN/PA/MD onsite
* CPR (BLS), required
* 2+ years of prior medical office experience.
* For Interventional Radiology procedures, surgical office/hospital setting experience highly preferred.
* For MRI and CT examinations, must demonstrate an understanding of MRI and CT procedures.
Pay range for this position is $19.00 - $27.00 per hour.

I. Major Responsibilities:

License/Certification/Education:
Required:
1. High School Diploma or equivalent.
2. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) or Heart Saver (HS) certification from the American Heart Association. If not available upon hire, a BLS/HS must be obtained within 3 months from date of hire. If certification is not obtained within 3 months of hire, the employee may be terminated or employee may apply for another position for which they meet the minimum qualifications.
3. Medical Assistant credential, approved by the Massachusetts Department of Health (ARMA, NHA, etc.).
Unless certification, licensure or registration is required, an equivalent combination of education and experience which provides proficiency in the areas of responsibility listed in this description may be substituted for the above requirements.
Department-specific competencies and their measurements will be developed and maintained in the individual departments. The competencies will be maintained and attached to the departmental job description. Responsible managers will review competencies with position incumbents.
III. Physical Demands and Environmental Conditions:
Position requires work indoors in a patient care office or clinic environment. Hand dexterity, hearing and vision ability to take direction from a patient or provider, adjust equipment, observe and describe patient observations. Must be able to lift, up to 50 pounds. Work is of medium demand, standing and walking most of the time with the possibility of pushing heavy equipment and bending frequently.
