POSITION SUMMARY Medical Assistants work with health care providers to deliver primary care to clients of the Community Health Center by preparing patients for physical exams, recording health information, phlebotomy, collecting specimens, performing screening tests, and performing administrative/clerical duties related to the patient care process. MA's work in a patient centered, team-based care delivery model. This position provides support to proactive patient care and care coordination. UNDERFILL OPTION: The goal is to fill this position as a Medical Assistant. However, applicants who can meet the minimum qualifications for the Medical Assistant within one year or less of on-the-job training are encouraged to apply as "underfill" candidates. Employees hired into the Medical Assistant level position as an underfill will be hired as a Medical Assistant underfill and then re-classified to the Medical Assistant upon passing trial service and meeting the minimum qualifications for that classification. Minimum Qualifications The following minimum qualifications are required for this position: Medical Assistant - Health Care Technician 1 (HCT21) * Technical training beyond high school in Medical Assisting or a directly related field that allows for a State or Federal recognized medical assistant certification; AND * One year of work experience in a similar field or work setting (e.g., nursing assistant, home health aides, personal care aides). * Must have State or Federal recognized medical assistant certification at the time of hire. Medical Assistant Underfill - Health Care Assistant 3 (HCA13) * Technical training beyond high school in Medical Assisting or a directly related field that allows for a State or Federal recognized medical assistant certification; AND * Must be able to obtain State or Federal recognized medical assistant certification within 6 months of hire.
