By performing the job expectations described below you will be an active member of the care team thereby patients are assured access to team-based, coordinated, comprehensive, quality care.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (include, but are not limited to, the following)
* Responsible for providing therapeutic services by interviewing families, individuals and groups.
* Assist in the assessment, planning, arranging, and implementing of psychosocial programs.
* Responsible for the content of education and counseling programs for both individual patients or groups of patients and serves as liaison to community, individuals and groups as appropriate.
* Counsel patients and interpret to professional and lay groups the special psychosocial needs of patients by identifying psychosocial disorders.
* Counsel patients during pregnancy.
* Building strong rapport with clients and making accurate assessments of their problems whether mental/emotional or physical.
* Review and evaluate recent psychosocial health research and interpret it to professionals and patients.
* Perform short term counseling and crisis intervention as necessary.
* Coordinate with clinical, health education, community health and other staff members in the provision of services to patients. Provide referrals for services needed.
* Coordinate with other organizational entities involved in psychosocial and mental health services.
* Use tests, measurements, and measurement scale for general and specific assessments as well as objective patient criteria in the provision of services and evaluation procedures.
* Provide in-service presentations to staff as needed or required.
* Conduct health related educational presentations to both adults and teens in school and clinical settings.
* Maintains weekly scheduled appointments in our electronic records systems.
* Completes required documentation and paperwork including biopsychosocial assessments and treatment planning and implementation in a timely manner.
* Demonstrates commitment to the mission of the agency.
* Keeping detailed and concise records of each patient during the course of their treatment.
* Other duties as assigned.

In our organization, these professionals are placed in the position of Mental Health Coordinator to plan and provide clinical mental health services of a non-medical nature in the facility. As mid-level managers, they may coordinate and direct activities of other personnel engaged in providing mental health services to inmates/residents.
The successful candidate should be able to perform ALL of the following functions at a pace and level of performance consistent with the actual job performance requirements.
Conducts mental health screenings and assessments based on a review of available records and clinical interviews with inmates.
Provides treatment to inmates by developing, implementing and modifying individual treatment plans based on an evaluation of needs and level of functioning.
Documents treatment and evaluation activities in the health care record for each person seen.
Maintains strict confidentiality of sensitive materials and information at all times.
Demonstrates a thorough knowledge of psychological counseling theory and techniques by way of treatments and activities used for individuals in caseload.
Provides appropriate mental health assessments, counseling and crisis interventions to address the needs of inmates.
Qualifications:
Graduate from an accredited college or university with a Master's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Mental Health Counseling or a degree in a related clinical area.
Five (5) years of clinical experience which includes two (2) years in a comparable job position required.
Must possess appropriate GA certification or licensing in the state where practice occurs.
A valid driver's license is preferred unless required by contract or applicable statute.
