Aquila's Fitness Specialist Intern Spring/Summer 2026 will gain first- hand experience by assisting members in safe and effective exercise programs and perform a wide range of duties in a health/fitness center, under the supervision of the site manager. The program provides students with a well rounded experience in the fitness industry, in a professional setting.
We currently have openings for Spring and Summer 2026 interns for our Miami, FL location near the Miami Airport (west of airport).
As a Fitness Specialist Intern, you will have the opportunity to do the following:
Assist in educating members concerning safe exercise techniques
Assist to perform exercise assessments and prescribe exercise upon American College of Sports Medicine guidelines
Conduct safe and effective assessments including cardiovascular, strength, flexibility, and body composition analysis; evaluate and interpret data and identify high risk participants and special populations
Aid members - spotting and equipment usage
Assist in the maintenance, cleanliness and safety of all equipment
Adhere to departmental and club policies and procedures
Adhere to client's policies and procedures
Assist in wellness and fitness promotions and external events
Perform daily administrative duties under the supervision of the site manager or fitness specialist
Assist in memberships: monthly, internships: signing members up, sending out reminders of payment
Help teach group fitness classes in different styles: step, strength, circuit, Pilates and/or yoga
Helping clients/members with fitness related questions. Performing tours of the facility
Personal Training shadowing and writing out mock PT sessions
Assisting with newsletter, articles, and monthly bulletin board
Compensation:
This is an unpaid internship and does not provide wages. However, at the completion of the program Aquila sponsors an ACE certification exam for the candidate. The program has to be completed in full. The exam fees are paid by Aquila.
Requirements:
Must be an undergraduate Junior or Senior majoring in Kinesiology, Exercise Science, Health Promotion or very closely related major.
Must have at least a 2.75 GPA

Position Summary:

**Early Intervention, Developmental Specialist Internship**

Raising a child with a developmental disability is a journey that takes knowledge, love, patience, and support. You will be part of a team that provides in-home early intervention specialized services for infants and toddlers where they can naturally learn and develop.
**Responsibilities**
+ Plan, schedule and provide weekly early educational in-home services for a caseload of infant/toddlers with disabilities including developmental delays and programs for children diagnosed with autism spectrum disorders.
+ Administer and document all program assessments and updates accurately to meet timelines.
+ Design, implement, and adapt activities for language, cognitive, fine and gross motor, sensory, self-help, and social/emotional development, for each individual child, utilizing best practices.
+ Model effective adult-child interactions and provide information on parenting, and child development , through and effective coaching.
+ Monitor, document, and share the child's progress with the family and team.
**Minimum Qualifications**
+ Currently enrolled in an MSW program (generalist or advanced standing) with field eligibility for the requested term.
+ Experience or strong interest in early childhood, caregiver coaching, and family-centered practice (experience with children under 5 is a plus).
+ Effective communication, organization, and time-management; comfort working in homes and community settings.
+ Valid driver's license, reliable insured vehicle, and ability to travel within the service area

Aquila's Summer 2026 Fitness Specialist Intern will gain first-hand experience by assisting members in safe and effective exercise programs and perform a wide range of duties in a health/fitness center, under the supervision of the site manager. The program provides students with a well rounded experience in all aspects of health & fitness in a professional setting. We are currently searching for interns for Summer 2026 - exact start and end dates, as well as intership hours, are flexible. The location is in Miami, FL in the airport area (west of airport). As a Fitness Specialist Intern, you will have the opportunity to learn how to do the following:
Educate members concerning safe exercise techniques
Perform exercise assessments and prescribe exercise upon American College of Sports Medicine guidelines
Conduct safe and effective assessments including cardiovascular, strength, flexibility, and body composition analysis; evaluate and interpret data and identify high risk participants and special populations
Aid members spotting and equipment usage
Assist in the maintenance, cleanliness and safety of all equipment
Adhere to departmental and club policies and procedures
Adhere to clients policies and procedures
Assist in wellness and fitness promotions and external events
Perform daily administrative duties under the supervision of the site manager or fitness specialist
Assist in memberships: monthly, internships: signing members up, sending out reminders of payment
Help teach group fitness classes in different styles: step, strength, circuit, Pilates and/or yoga
Helping clients/members with fitness related questions. Performing tours of the facility
Personal Training shadowing and writing out mock PT sessions
Assisting with newsletter, articles, and monthly bulletin board
Compensation: This is an unpaid internship and does not provide wages. However, at the completion of the program Aquila sponsors an ACE certification exam for the candidate. The program has to be completed in full. The exam fees are paid by Aquila. Requirements:
Currently in Junior/Senior year of university studying towards Kinesiology, Exercise Science, Health Promotion, or related area of study
Customer service oriented
Knowledge of fitness training principles
Punctuality
Computer knowledge: Microsoft Office Products & Network Internet
