In an environment of continuous quality improvement, the Radiation Therapist is responsible for providing radiation therapy to patients as prescribed by the Radiation Oncologist. Exhibits the MHS Standards of Excellence and exercises strict confidentiality at all times.
Job Functions:
Provides safe environment of care for patients.
Maintains strict confidentiality at all times.
Effectively monitors and reports QA issues.
Contributes to planning and implementation of radiation treatments.
Monitors radiation treatments.
Provides timely, adequate teaching to patient/family/significant other.
Consistently documents assessments and interventions in the electronic radiation treatment chart.
Versatility in all aspects of Radiation Therapy.
Performs fabrication of immobilization devices per physician orders.
Assumes all other duties and responsibilities as necessary.
Qualifications
Minimum Education/Experience Required:
Graduate of AMA approved School of Radiologic Technology.
A registered Radiologic Technologist with the ARRT.
Graduate of AMA approved School of Radiation Therapy Technology.
Registered Radiation Therapist with ARRT.
Current radiologic licensure from the State of Ohio Department of Health.
BLS certification required.
Maintains compliance in RQI required.
Special Knowledge, Skills, Training:
Verbal and written communication skills, clerical, numerical, and manual dexterity, IV therapy skills, proper lifting techniques and body mechanics.

Prepare patients for Cardiac Studies (IV and EKG lead placement)
Competent PET Scan patient preparation and radiopharmaceutical injections.
Performs Quality Control on Cameras and calibration equipment.
Assumes all other duties and responsibilities as necessary.
Qualifications
Minimum Education/Experience Required:
ARRT-N or NMTCB registered with current radiologic licensure from the State of Ohio Department of Health required.
BLS certification required.
Maintains compliance in RQI required.
Special Knowledge, Skills, Training:
Interpersonal skills, computer skills, Dose Calibrator, Geiger Counter, Captus well counter and uptake probe, glucometer, Stress Lab EKG machines and treadmills, Blood Pressures and Pulse Oximeter.
The staff member must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served in the diagnostic imaging area.

Positions patients and administers oral and intravenous contrast agents for particular diagnostic procedures. Operates the CT scanner to obtain diagnostic scans utilizing the scope of practice for medical imaging as defined by ARRT and ASRT and in compliance with the Ohio Department of Heath rules and regulations.
Reviews each examination for technical accuracy.
Proficient at transmitting images to PACS and scanning in appropriate documents.
Rotates CT call.
Checks for expiration dates on supplies and disposes of expired items.
75% attendance at department meetings.
Schedules patients in conjunction with the Outpatient Scheduling Department.
Maintains compliance in RQI.
Assumes all other duties and responsibilities as necessary.
Qualifications
Minimum Education/Experience Required:
Two years post high school education.
Current radiologic licensure from the State of Ohio Department of Health and ARRT registered required.
CTTechnologist certification is requested within 2 years and required at 3 years.
Failure to obtain within 2 years will result in progressive disciplinary action each quarter (see Personnel Policy No. 90:02 Disciplinary Action).
BLS certification required.
