We are seeking a Behavior Specialist- Fee for Service to join our team. This role requires travel to Delaware, Chester & Philadelphia counties.
Earn: $36.30/Hour
Our Behavior Specialist will be successful by completing assignments, developing strategies, writing personalized Behavior Support Plans for individuals with basic to complex behavior, under appropriate clinical supervision.
Other responsibilities include:
Responsible for efficient and appropriate development, facilitation, documentation and revision of Behavior Support Plans, according to the person's Individual Support Plan and per Merakey policy
Completes observations in various settings and conducts comprehensive Functional Behavioral Assessments (FBA) of presenting issues from aggression, self-injurious behavior, adverse mental health symptoms, law offending behavior- sexual or other identified presenting issues
Collaborate with the person, their family and team in the development and maintenance of a behavior support plan.
Trains and mentors, the people support team on how to implement plans.
Completes documentation including but not limited to data collection, progress reporting, development and revision of the Behavior Support Plan (BSP)
Provides timely documentation, per policy, including but not limited to data collection, progress reporting, development and revision of the BSP.

A Family Enrichment Center (FEC) is a family-centered, place-based primary prevention approach, where all members of the community have access to and may benefit from both structured or spontaneous activities and events (called “offerings”) that strengthen family protective factors to increase child and family well‑being and promote stability. FEC offerings are available to everyone, regardless of current or past child welfare involvement.
The goal of the Family Enrichment Center (FEC) is to enhance child and family well‑being by providing access and support to enable the strengthening of family protective factors inherent in its residents and community by building mutual community connections, capacity, and resilience.
In partnership with FEC staff, families will drive the planning, development, and sustainable co‑ownership of the centers. Families who participate in the FEC programming will be encouraged to share their expertise by volunteering at the center and given meaningful opportunities to engage with neighbors and peers. The goal of the FEC is to strengthen families' protective factors and build community connections, capacity, and resilience.
Position Summary
The Family Advocate is responsible for contributing to the day‑to‑day operation of the FEC including building connections with other staff, residents, and community partners; co‑designing and delivering relevant programming and activities (offerings); providing advocacy and making referrals for participants; and creating a warm and inviting gathering place for families and individuals using the protective factors model to support community resilience.
Responsibilities
Coordinate meetings, provide support, and collaborate with a team of local parents, subject experts, and other residents to deliver monthly events and activities (offerings) held at the FEC.
Foster a culture of respect built on the belief that families and communities possess the inherent strengths and knowledge needed to succeed given the right access to opportunities and support.
Provide advocacy, outreach, and referrals to connect participants to service providers and other programs that have resources to offer.
Engage groups of local community members of all ages and guide them through the co‑designed activities and programming of the FEC.
Manage enrollment and attendance at offerings and events.
Care for and attend to the physical space of the FEC program to ensure it is safe, welcoming, organized, and appealing to participants and community members.
Handle inventory and ordering/purchasing responsibilities to keep the site running and ensure needed food and supplies are stocked for offerings.
Effectively utilize tracking and reporting mechanisms and accurately enter data and run reports in the FEC website and other agency databases as needed to obtain program‑level data, compiling statistical or written reports for agency and external stakeholders.
Manage the FEC website to communicate with and engage members.
Use Appreciative Inquiry and other strength‑based tools to engage community members in co‑designing offerings.
Create monthly calendars, website content, and other outreach tools to promote and document offerings.
Participate and engage with the FEC team in learning collaboratives facilitated by ACS with other FEC teams from across the city.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Minimum qualifications include a bachelor's degree and three (3) years of professional experience; or a high school diploma and five (5) years of professional experience in community-driven programs working directly with children, youth, and families.
Reside in or near the FEC community, or reside close enough to arrive promptly, in the event of an emergency.
Bi‑Lingual either /Mandarin &/or Cantonese is required.
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to warmly connect with and engage children, youth, and adults individually and in groups.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Familiar with the community and its assets and resources, such as other programs, services, supports, local civic groups, and community leaders.
Experience in developing and running a group, a club, or coaching a team preferred.
Experience caring for children (as a parent, guardian, relative, neighbor, or babysitter) preferred.
Ability to perform multiple tasks effectively in a fast‑paced, challenging, and constantly changing environment.
Must have a commitment to work from a trauma‑informed, strength‑based, youth and family development perspective.
Must be able to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends, attending community events as needed.

Who You Are:
Conduct scholar observations and functional behavior assessments to understand the root causes of behaviors.
Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other stakeholders in developing targeted behavior strategies and interventions.
Create individualized behavior intervention plans (BIPs) based on assessment findings.
Implement behavior support strategies and Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs), often through one-on-one or small group sessions with teachers, and provide coaching to others on how to effectively implement these strategies and plans.
Maintain a digital database of all Behavior Intervention records, forms, observations, agreements, and other relevant documents.
Conduct observations of classrooms and school environments to ensure behavior strategies and practices are being implemented with fidelity.
Support and coach teachers as it relates to behavior supports implementation at the classroom level (Tier 1 and Tier 2 supports).
Support the Deans, Operations Directors, and Counselors in the creation and implementation of both Tier 1 and Tier 2 Interventions.
Meet regularly with school leadership to ensure implementation and review changes in data. Provide support that is culturally responsive and respectful of trauma responses to ensure all supports and interventions are individualized and effective.
Provide support to families through meetings, workshops, and individualized training.
Participate in scholar case conferences and retention conferences.
Train and support paraprofessionals.
What you'll do:
Bachelor's degree
Demonstrated experience in special education, behavioral specialist, student counseling, or a student-related area
Knowledge of student development and student learning theories
Strong understanding of applied behavior analysis (ABA) principles and evidence-based interventions

Requirements
Who You Are:
Conduct scholar observations and functional behavior assessments to understand the root causes of behaviors.
Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other stakeholders in developing targeted behavior strategies and interventions.
Create individualized behavior intervention plans (BIPs) based on assessment findings.
Implement behavior support strategies and Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs), often through one-on-one or small group sessions with teachers, and provide coaching to others on how to effectively implement these strategies and plans.
Maintain a digital database of all Behavior Intervention records, forms, observations, agreements, and other relevant documents.
Conduct observations of classrooms and school environments to ensure behavior strategies and practices are being implemented with fidelity.
Support and coach teachers as it relates to behavior supports implementation at the classroom level (Tier 1 and Tier 2 supports).
Support the Deans, Operations Directors, and Counselors in the creation and implementation of both Tier 1 and Tier 2 Interventions.
Meet regularly with school leadership to ensure implementation and review changes in data. Provide support that is culturally responsive and respectful of trauma responses to ensure all supports and interventions are individualized and effective.
Provide support to families through meetings, workshops, and individualized training.
Participate in scholar case conferences and retention conferences.
Train and support paraprofessionals.
What you'll do:
Bachelor's degree
Demonstrated experience in special education, behavioral specialist, student counseling, or a student-related area
Knowledge of student development and student learning theories
Strong understanding of applied behavior analysis (ABA) principles and evidence-based interventions
Strong organizational and administrative skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
Master's degree

Assist with arrival and dismissal, fire drills and assist/support when typical staffing ratios are low
Collaborate with program supervisors and help with staff disciplinary actions when necessary
Ensure effective communication regarding behavioral issues of individuals
Complete staff observations and provide feedback
Participate and work as part of interdisciplinary team
Maintain an open, friendly, professional relationship with all staff and families. Set up meetings to resolve outstanding issues, as needed
Be an advocate for improvement in to all facets of the program
Treat all families with dignity and respect; allow for individual differences; provide an atmosphere of acceptance and caring
Qualifications and Work Experience
Master's degree in one of the following human services professional fields (including, but not limited to sociology, special education, rehabilitation, counseling or psychology) required
1-2 years' experience and training in applied behavior analysis (ABA) supports for people with autism highly preferred
General knowledge of theories and principles of behavioral analysis, assessments and goal development preferred
Experience supporting people with intellectual disabilities/autism required
Clean and valid Driver's license is required
Ability to safely assist lifting individuals of various weights & 20 lb items required
Ability to run when needed

QSAC is hiring Behavior InterventionSpecialists (BIS) across QSAC Program! We are looking for committed and energetic Behavior InterventionSpecialists (BIS) who will conduct, assess and develop behavior support plans, address challenges and train our Direct Support Professionals (DSP) in the Day Habilitation Program, Residential Program and Family Services.
BIS - Day Habilitation Program - We are looking for committed and energetic Behavior InterventionSpecialists (BIS) who will conduct, assess and develop behavior support plans, address challenges and train our Direct Support Professionals (DSP) in the Day Habilitation Program. (Monday - Friday shifts available at one of our 12 Day Hab locations, depending on need and availability)
BIS - Residential - Behavior InterventionSpecialists (BIS) for the Residential program must be able to travel to assigned residential locations in Manhattan, Bronx, Queens and Long Island locations. As a BIS you will provide functional behavioral analysis and behavior/psychological assessments, develop and monitor behavior support plans and assist with the development and implementation of individual goals. These roles can have some flexibility in start and end times, with weekly office hours. Please Note: These roles have some autonomy, but the BIS is required to drive and travel to assigned QSAC locations.
BIS - Family Services Behavior InterventionSpecialists (BIS) provide 1 to 1 services in the individual's home and community. Applicants should have knowledge of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA). The BIS will work with the individual, family and Direct Support Professional (DSP) staff to develop and monitor Person Centered Service Plans to assist the individual in achieving their personal goals.
Positions are available in the Bronx, Brooklyn, Manhattan, Queens and Long Island. The position requires traveling to the individual's home and other locations in the community. Flexible schedule which requires some evening and weekend hours.
Please Note: QSAC requires Master degree requirements for BIS candidates for Day Hab and Residential programs, we can consider candidates with Bachelor degrees for the Family Services department and QIDP roles!

Maintain clinical paperwork as regulated by New York State (OPWDD) regulations
Provide written goal summary for and participate in interdisciplinary meetings
Review data collected and provide monthly updates on progress
Track due dates for required documents and reports
Assist with intake process which includes meetings, trial visits and clinical decision making
Training & Support
Provide training to Direct Support Professionals (DSP) on skills and techniques to support people with autism by implementing the principles of applied behavior analysis (ABA)
Provide direct instruction for goal implementation and proactive and reactive strategies
Assist with arrival and dismissal, fire drills and assist/support when typical staffing ratios are low
Collaborate with program supervisors and help with staff disciplinary actions when necessary
Ensure effective communication regarding behavioral issues of individuals
Complete staff observations and provide feedback
Participate and work as part of interdisciplinary team
Maintain an open, friendly, professional relationship with all staff and families. Set up meetings to resolve outstanding issues, as needed
Be an advocate for improvement in to all facets of the program
Treat all families with dignity and respect; allow for individual differences; provide an atmosphere of acceptance and caring
Qualifications and Work Experience

Master's degree in one of the following human services professional fields (including, but not limited to sociology, special education, rehabilitation, counseling or psychology) required
1-2 years' experience and training in applied behavior analysis (ABA) supports for people with autism highly preferred

Clean and valid Driver's license is required

PROGRAM: LifeSet
JOB OVERVIEW:
The LifeSet Specialist is responsible for providing services to address the needs of young people 17-21 who have transitioned out of care and need individualized skill development and support to transition successfully into adulthood, specifically obtaining and maintaining safe and suitable housing, continuing their education, learning independent living skills, obtaining and maintaining employment, building a support system, and remaining free from legal involvement.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The LifeSet Specialist provides individual services to 8-10 young adults in the home and community setting to assist the young adult with transition to adulthood, meeting a minimum of one time per week face to face with the young person and providing additional support via phone, text, or in person as needed. When indicated, a LifeSet Specialist may see a young person daily to ensure safety and stability.
Additionally, the LifeSet Specialist is directly responsible for all interventions associated with a specific young adult and their family. This includes case management and collaboration with external key stakeholders and referral sources, such as probation, child welfare workers, therapists, etc. The Specialist conducts ongoing assessment of the young person's needs from a strength-focused, solution-based perspective and develops service plans on a monthly basis.
The Specialist also documents all service contacts with the young adult within the timelines required by the organization. The Specialist is expected to attend all meetings related to the young adult and/or family with the purpose of gathering information specific to intervention development and advocating in the best interest of the young adult's long-term stability. The Specialist is on call 24/7 (rotating on-call at night and on weekends) and expected to respond in person at any time when it is determined to be necessary by the Team Supervisor, Clinical Consultant, and Program Director.
In addition, the specialist is expected to attend and actively participate in individual and team supervision sessions and trainings and to follow up and/or implement feedback and recommendations received from the Team Supervisor, Program Director, and Clinical Consultant. The Specialist is expected to adhere to all ethical and legal guidelines, including confidentiality and mandated reporting.
SKILLS:
Candidates should possess strong organizational skills and attention to detail, the ability to maintain a flexible schedule, the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously, and excellent written and verbal skills.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Master's degree in field of social work, psychology, or related field preferred. Bachelor's degree in social services with one year related experience in counseling and or case management is required.
