Responsibilities
The CTTechnologist, using high level technical skills, performs all CT scans, routine and invasive on infants, children, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients. Conducts all pre and post activities associated with each exam as required. Must be willing to perform job standards and provide excellent customer service to staff, patients and visitors in a manner consistent with Mercy Medical Centers' Service Excellence Standards, Mission and Values.
Weekends and Holidays may be required.
Requirements
* Must have graduated from an accredited Radiologic Technologist Program AND possess a High School Diploma/GED
* Preferred at least 1 year experience in General Diagnostic Imaging and CT Scanning
* License: Must be licensed in the State of Maryland
* Certification:
* CPR
* ARRT (CT)

Observes patients for expected and unexpected reactions to treatments and communicates this to appropriate staff members. Reinforces patient education/side effect management information and indicates non-compliance to medical/nursing staff.
+ Independently performs patient simulations at the request of physician. Collects and documents data acquired during the simulation procedure. Accurately inputs treatment-related data into the EMR. Makes any appropriate patient-centric recommendations to the physician.
+ Assists as needed in all treatment-related procedures, including transporting patients, reviewing charts, and ordering supplies. The RT demonstrates the ability to recognize standard imaging / ARGT; and make the necessary to adjustments to ensure high quality treatment.
+ Performs and documents daily and weekly QA checklist. Notifies appropriate clinical team members and documents of findings outside the normal range of operations. Participates in programs to measure and improve the quality of care within the Department. Able to use critical thinking to trouble shoot and often fix common quality issues.
+ Captures and verifies patient treatment charges
**Position Requirements:**
+ Associate's degree or College/Technical Certification in ARRT Accredited Radiation Therapy Program.
+ ARRT (T).
+ State Licensure, if applicable
+ CPR Certification.
+ One (1) year minimum experience as Radiation Therapist.
+ The COVID-19 is/may be a condition of employment.
+ All candidates who accept an offer for employment will be required to successfully complete a pre-employment background check and drug screen as a condition of employment.
**Physical Requirements:**
Standard Office Environment. The employee may be exposed to radioactive isotopes, ionizing radiation, blood/body fluids and infectious disease.
The employee must be able to have full mobility and ability to participate in vigorous activity such as walking in and out of the treatment room, all day, lifting of potentially heavy cerrobend blocks and electron cones, and transferring and moving patients, as necessary.

Position Summary
The Radiation Therapist has the opportunity to inspire confidence in patient care by operating treatment machines in the department, treating patients in a consistent and caring manner following the Radiation Oncologist's prescription and treatment plan.
As the Radiation Therapist at Asante, you will have the opportunity to:
Closely interact with and treating patients while building supportive, nurturing relationships with the patient
Provide accurate and precise delivery of radiation in a dynamic teamwork favored atmosphere
Work closely with Radiation Oncologists and nursing staff to coordinate consistent patient care and treatment
Develop and maintain a scientific understanding of radiation, its effects, and how to safely deliver it using a linear accelerator and Tomotherapy unit
Acquire patient data using a CT scanner and build positioning devices while partnering with seasoned dosimetrists

POSITION SUMMARY
This position performs prescribed planned course of radiation therapy as directed by following department/facility policies, procedures, guidelines and protocols and in accordance with standards of professional radiation therapy practice. Performs needed assessment, care and treatment planning for patient population.
CORE FUNCTIONS
1. Performs radiation therapy treatments by following and verifying referring providers' orders. Uses independent judgment and applies learned methodologies according to established policy and procedures.
2. Educates patients/families regarding procedure and/or treatment to be performed. Demonstrates professional behavior/conduct in all interactions; fosters teamwork, efficient use of resources and quality patient outcomes.
3. Operates treatment and treatment planning equipment to include simulation in accordance with departmental policy. Prepares treatments and administers prescribed doses in accordance with established policies. Prepares and maintains accurate documentation.
4. Demonstrates competence in performing prescribed invasive/interventional procedures in accordance with established policies.
5. Performs and evaluates equipment quality control measurements. Demonstrates the ability to trouble shoot and notifies appropriate personnel to maintain equipment performance. Maintains a safe environment for patients, personnel, and visitors. Adheres to radiation safety practices. Ensures the safe receipt, administration, storage, and disposal of radioactive materials utilizing ALARA principles.
6. Accountable for the ethical, legal, and professional responsibilities related to radiation oncology practice. This includes maintaining confidentiality of all work information.
7. Assures the efficient operation of workflow of the department.
8. Independently performs prescribed radiation therapy procedures in accordance with department/facility policies, procedures and protocols to patients. Internal customers: All levels of radiation oncology, nursing management and staff, medical staff, and all other members of the interdisciplinary health care team. External Customers: regulatory and health agencies, patients, caregivers and family members.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Must possess a strong knowledge of clinical care as normally obtained through an Associate degree in radiation oncology or related field.
Requires national certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists and licensure by the state regulatory agency if applicable. BLS certification required.
Must be knowledgeable of clinical techniques, applications and equipment relative to the area of work. Must demonstrate effective communication skills, human relations skills, and be safety conscious.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Previous radiation therapy experience preferred.
Additional related education and/or experience preferred.

The Radiologic Technologist performs various radiographic procedures used in diagnosis and treatment of disease, requiring independent and professional judgment. Duties are delegated in relation to the degree of training and in accordance with the policies of Asante and respective to state laws governing such action and activities.
What You Must Have/Obtain
Licensed by the Oregon Board of Medical Imaging (OBMI) with certification in Radiography (R) - OR - OBMI Temporary License in Radiography may be considered.
Permanent licensure must be obtained within 1 year of hire or prior to temporary license expiration.
BLS: Basic Life Support for the Healthcare Provider certified by the American Heart Association (AHA) required upon start.

The CTTechnologist is responsible for performing high-quality computed tomography (CT) imaging procedures in accordance with physician orders and radiologist protocols. This role involves preparing and positioning patients, operating CT scanners, and ensuring accurate image acquisition while prioritizing patient safety and comfort. The technologist must demonstrate a strong understanding of radiation safety practices and be proficient in the use of imaging equipment and related systems such as PACS and RIS.
This position requires excellent technical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced healthcare environment. The technologist must be flexible to work at multiple locations and varied shifts and be committed to delivering exceptional patient care and service. A proactive approach to problem-solving, continuous learning, and teamwork is essential for success in this role.
CTTechnologist Detailed Responsibilities
Explain procedure to patient, to reduce anxieties and obtain patient cooperation. Position and immobilize patient in exam scanners and observe during scan for patient safety.
Monitor video display of area being scanned and adjust technique to improve quality. Review and evaluate images for technical quality for diagnostic purposes.
Use radiation safety measures and protection devices to comply with government regulations and to ensure safety of patients and staff.
Able to answer patient, technologist and radiologist questions.
Must be able to go beyond duties in order to do what is best for the patients and department.
Verify exams for completion in PACS and complete charting work in RIS
Understands and demonstrates correct usage of necessary equipment to perform procedures.
Follows protocols requested by Radiologist.
Demonstrates appropriate use of communication tool that allows patient and technologist to communicate during examination.
Enters data such as patient history, anatomical area to be scanned, orientation specified, and position of entry into aperture into computer.
Completes forms and maintains records, logs, and reports of work performed.
Performs routine maintenance, diagnoses malfunctions, and is responsible in arranging for repairs as needed.
