Responsibilities
The Nursing Support Tech II participates as a member of the healthcare team in the delivery of high quality patient care. Under supervision of the registered nurse, the NST performs delegated patient care and procedures, and observes, reports and records patient conditions and information. The NST assists the healthcare team with specific treatments and/or procedures in the acute care facility.

Responsibilities for Urology Scrub / Surgical / Laser Tech:
Perform procedures in accordance with all Laser protocols.
Moves and sets up ureteroscopy/laser equipment in OR prior to procedure.
Assists Urologist in performing ureteroscopy and laser procedures.
Report to facility no later than 60 minutes prior to the start of the procedure.
Submit complete and legible treatment/billing logs according to UMS' HIPAA policies and procedures.
Reviews and maintains inventory of supplies and cystoscopy equipment.
Responsible for contacting facilities to confirm schedule, number of patient procedures and start times.
Responsible for having an after-hours contact at each facility in case of equipment failure or emergency. It is the technologist's responsibility to contact the facility in case of potential cancellation and work with the Laser Supervisor to try to accommodate the patient procedures.
Maintains and builds relationships with physician partners.
Responsible for maintaining Policies & Procedure Manuals, which includes adding updates and reviewing each manual prior to any inspection.
Responsible for the upkeep of the equipment and supplies to perform procedures in an efficient and aesthetic manner. They will prepare the equipment for transport, including but not limited to, cleaning/disinfecting the equipment, putting supplies away, etc.
Notify their service engineer of any malfunctioning equipment.
Laser Specialist will wear a company name badge at all times, when on the premises of a facility.
Qualifications for Urology Scrub / Surgical / Laser Tech:
Certified Scrub Tech or Certified Surgical Technologist or similar background preferred
Prior OR experience preferred
Urology experience preferred
Minimum 1 year experience working in Operation Room setting.
Prior experience with Holmium Laser utilization for Urology procedures a plus.
Knowledge of sterilization protocols will be considered a plus.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES ANDRESPONSIBILITIES:
Performs assigned procedures for comfort and well-being for pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients, demonstrating a concern for safety.

Assists with hemostasis by: Clamping and/or cauterizing vessels or tissue; Tying and/or ligating clamped vessels or tissue; Applying hemostatic clips; Placing hemostatic agents; Applying tourniquets; Applying vessel loops; Applying noncrushing clamps & Applying direct digital pressure.
Assists with closure of body planes: Utilizing running or interrupted subcutaneous sutures with absorbable or nonabsorbable material; Utilizing subcuticular closure technique with or without adhesive skin closure strips; Closing the skin with method indicated by surgeon (suture, staples, etc.) & Postoperative cutaneous injection oflocal anesthetic agent.
Selects and apply appropriate wound dressings including liquid or spray occlusive materials, absorbent material affixed with tape or circumferential wrapping, or immobilizing dressing (soft or rigid).
Provides assistance in securing drainage systems to tissue.
SCOPE, PURPOSE, AND FREQUENCY OF CONTACTS:
Daily contact with patients, employees, physicians, and students. Contact at various time intervals with families, visitors, community agencies, companies as well as general public.
DIRECTION/SUPERVISION OF OTHERS:
Gives direction to PPCT's, SAIV's, support service personnel, and at various tirne intervals assists in direction of new staff RN's and ST's.
DIRECTION/SUPERVISION RECEIVED:
Directly reports to Nurse Manager; receives supervision also from PCC's and direction from staff RN's. Practices under the direct supervision of the surgeon.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

POSITION SUMMARY
This position independently performs prescribed diagnostic sleep monitoring studies, which may include home sleep tests, to patients. This position analyzes the results to aide clinicians with diagnosis, treatment, monitoring and care of patients. This position acts as a resource to the department.
CORE FUNCTIONS
1. Obtains artifact free sleep tracings that accurately reflect physiologic processes occurring during sleep of patients utilizing the latest technology.
2. Analyzes all types of sleep records of patients. Identifies and documents sleep stages and quantify physiologic processes during the data acquisition and summarizes this information as outlined by departmental policies and procedures.
3. Ensures an accurate and readable recording using deductive reasoning to trouble shoot minor problems and make adjustments as needed during the testing process.
4. Collects and/or reviews pertinent medical, historical, and medication information in order to perform the appropriate study prescribed by the physician as outlined by departmental policies and procedures.
5. Assists with the development of department policies, procedures and processes, facilitate testing and maintain quality to achieve optimal patient results.
6. Assists leadership with operations, scheduling, orientation and/or training of new technical staff. May conduct or lead educational in-services and case study presentations.
7. Ensures quality assurance standards as outlined by departmental policies and procedures in accordance with regulatory agencies.
8. Independently performs prescribed diagnostic sleep monitoring, which may include home sleep test, to patients and acts as a resource to the department. Internal customers: All levels of nursing management and staff, medical staff, and all other members of the interdisciplinary health care team. External Customers: regulatory and health agencies, patients and family members.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma/GED or equivalent working knowledge. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
Requires Registry by the Board of Polysomnographic Technologists or proof of having passed the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT).
The position requires clinical knowledge typically achieved with 3 years of experience in all aspects of sleep disorders testing. Must be proficient in the use and theory of all equipment related to sleep testing and a thorough knowledge of the sleep/wake cycle and its pathologies, as well as, EEG theory appropriate to sleep monitoring and cardiopulmonary physiology during sleep. Must demonstrate critical thinking skills, problem-solving abilities and effective communication skills.

* Administers medications and supplemental 02 as directed by physician.
* Recognizes and responds to serious medical problems per protocol and notifies on-call physician as needed.

* Full Time, Nights; (36) hours/week.
*Minimum Qualifications: *
* Must be registered by the American Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists or Board Registered in a related field with the ability to apply and pass for a certificate in Sleep medicine, such as a Registered Respiratory Therapist or a Registered Electro Neurodiagnostic Technologist.

Functions as surgical first assistant to the surgeon during the operation working under the direction and supervision of that surgeon and in accordance with hospital policy and appropriate laws and regulations. On occasion the surgical first assistant may have to perform the duties of a surgicaltechnician. All surgical staff assists with room turn over.
CORE FUNCTIONS
1. Interacts professionally with patient and family. Provides patient with explanations and verbal reassurance, as necessary.
2. Adapts procedures to meet individual needs of pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients for treatment. Anticipates needs of surgeon during intraoperative phase.
3. Performs aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors.
4. Follows written procedures for steam sterilization; knows responsibilities and the necessity for chemical and biological monitoring. Is fully responsible for care of instruments/equipment during intra/postoperative phase, including cleaning and processing of instruments.
5. Accurately completes operating room counts (instruments, sponges, needles); follows proper procedure in case of incorrect count; reports all discrepancies to circulating nurse and surgeon and/or corrects immediately. Carries out medical/surgical asepsis during treatments/procedures.
6. Regularly collaborates with other members of the nursing team, in order to maintain equipment and supplies for surgical procedures. Sets up, scrubs and prepares for procedures at least 15 minutes prior to scheduled time, unless otherwise directed by Circulating Nurse or Nurse Manager. Prepares room in a timely manner with all anticipated instruments, sutures, supplies and equipment for each individual surgical procedure.
7. Utilizes initiative; strives to maintain steady level of productivity; self-motivated. Organization and management of activities reflects due consideration for the needs of the department.
8. Always maintains an orderly and sterile instrument table for the purpose of efficiency; follows department standard set-up.
9. Applying sutures, staples, clips, and drainage systems and clamping, or cauterizing blood vessels to control bleeding.
10. Covering patients with surgical drapes to ensure and maintain a sterile operating field, removing patients' body hair, and disinfecting the incision site.

Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Must have graduated from an accredited SurgicalTechnician Program AND First Assist Program
Requires a current Certification as a SurgicalTechnician/First Assist. BLS Certification is required.
Requires a knowledge level typically obtained with two (2) years of SurgicalTechnician experience.
Relates throughout the interview process the experience, training and education needed to perform the job.

We are seeking an experienced RNFA or CSFA to join our team!
General Position Summary:
Provides aid in exposure, hemostasis and other technical functions that will help the surgeon carry out a safe operation with optimal results for the patient.
Essential Functions / Major Responsibilities:
· Review and validate all necessary surgical instruments/equipment needed.
· Positions patients as ordered by the surgeon.
· Appropriately places and secures retractors.
· Provides packing with sponges.
· Provides digital manipulation of tissue.
· Provides suctioning, irrigating, or sponging, as needed.
· Manipulates suture materials ( e.g. loops, tags, running sutures)
· Clamps and/or cauterizes vessels or tissue.
· Ties and/or ligates clamped vessels or tissue.
· Applies hemostatic clips.
· Places local hemostatic agents.
· Applies tourniquets, vessel loops or non-crushing clamps for temporary hemostasis.
· Utilizes appropriate techniques to assist with closure of body tissue planes.
· Selects and applies appropriate wound dressings.
· Assist in monitoring and transporting patient to PACU/ICU.
· Displays proper etiquette and mannerisms that reflect the Service Standard Behavior Guidelines.
· Promotes the Patient Safety Standards as a core value of the organization.
Requirements:
· Specific discipline state licensure and certifification
· Current CPR certification (required)

Specific Job Skills & Mental Activities:
This position requires knowledge of general surgical instruments and techniques for adult and pediatric patients as well as excellent computer, communication, critical thinking, problem solving, leadership, supervisory, interpersonal skills, basic math skills, and be able to exercise independent judgment skills when necessary. This position also requires knowledge of hospital equipment and programs, including all Hospital Information Systems and department specific equipment. This position requires self-direction and self-motivation. Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English.
Education, Licensures, and/or Experience:
The Registered Nurse who has completed formal education, with two years experience in perioperative nursing practice, and is currently licensed to practice as a registered nurse in the State of Arizona or within the State Board's approved compact agreement.
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
Certification as a Certified Nurse of the Operating Room (CNOR) or Certified Registered Nurse First Assist or Certified Surgical First Assist (Required)
BLS/CPR/AED Certification (required).
The nurse having had formal advanced training as a Surgical First Assistant may be eligible for credentialing to function as a Registered Nurse First Assistant (RNFA).
Physical Demands & Job Conditions:
Exert up to 100 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 lbs. of force frequently, and/or up to 20 lbs. of force constantly to move objects.
