Introduction to the team
Our Mergers and Acquisitions practice works with owners and investors to help them ease their tax burden and quantify tax exposures in a wide range of transactions, including buy-side and sell-side, restructuring, taxable and tax-free transactions. We provide our clients with tax due diligence, tax structuring, quantitative tax modeling services, transaction agreement review and consultation and tax technical support.

Responsibilities:
Engagement management with clients includes routinely working directly with c-suite executives to perform financial due diligence on middle-market companies in a variety of industries
Work alongside private equity firms, strategic clients and investment banks to perform buy-side and sell-side due diligence as well as other M&A tax activities
Responsible for all aspects of deal execution including sourcing and managing client relationships, analysis and execution of client deliverables and coaching and managing other team members
Coordinate services as needed with other practice areas of the firm
Build relationships with existing clients, including involvement in networking and business development activities
Provide both leadership and supervision to Staff, Seniors and Managers
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree with a major in accounting or related field required
Master's degree in Taxation or JD with LLM in taxation preferred
Minimum of 7 years of related experience
Previous experience in a public accounting or law firm preferred
CPA required. If not a CPA, must meet educational requirements to obtain CPA license upon hire in state of employment
Previous experience in tax due diligence and merger and acquisitions tax consulting preferred
Proven experience leading M&A tax services engagement teams at a large national professional services firm preferred
Proven market facing skills required to develop new business and sustain existing excellent client relationships
Minimum of 4 years of supervisory and training experience
Proven experience managing multiple client engagements

Job Duties:
Tax Compliance
Ensures both that (a) clients comply with all applicable authorities, while at the same time minimizing their tax and reporting burdens, and (b) self and client service teams comply with all Firm policies, standards, and the BDO Tax Quality Manual (“TQM”)
Applies understanding of client's unique set of circumstances, documentation, and/or other requirements mandated by law and prepares required filings (tax returns) using a system of review and documentation to ensure that the client is in full compliance, while keeping the client's tax and reporting burden's as low as possible
Ensures all data needed to comply with filing requirements are collected
Identifies and properly communicates missing items to prepare return
Utilizes Firm compliance software to maximize efficiency in tax prep process
Collaborates with Principals, TaxSeniors, and Associates on completion of project (follow-up with Open items list)
Delivers high quality federal, state, and international tax compliance services
Leads complex engagements with a team of tax professionals
Manages the engagement including billing, collections, and the budget for projects
Builds and manages client relationships
Ensures/Documents client work and conclusions in the client tax file
Research
Identifies when research is needed; clearly and concisely frames issues to be researched; and clearly and concisely reports the analysis
Applies most Firm and professional standards for preparation of WTA and tax returns
Involves firm specialists, as appropriate
Tax Consulting
Assists with identifying, developing, recommending, and implementing efficient and effective tax strategies
Leads clients with legal entity structuring, token genesis events, deal analysis, revenue recognition, sourcing, and implementation of clients' tax objectives
Prepares and leads client meetings on advisory and compliance projects related to tax planning opportunities, and the tax implications of various transactions to the organization
Tax Specialization
Develops an in-depth understanding of the technical and practical issues and opportunities regarding one or more areas of taxation, e.g., compliance, provision, corporate, partnership, state and local, international, structuring, mergers and acquisitions
May be required to organize and conduct effective internal CPE training sessions in area of specialization, involving Firm specialists
Other duties as required
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Supervises Associates and Senior Associates on all projects
Reviews work prepared by Associates and Senior Associates and provide review comments
Trains Associates and Seniors how to use all current software tools

Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Education:
