Adjunct teaching opportunities exist during the Fall 2026 semester. Adjunct Faculty are needed with specializations in communication, philosophy, environmental science, geography, sociology, or education. Descriptions of the College's unique general education courses are provided below: CORE 100 - Big Ideas: Effective Reasoning and Communication This course focuses on the development of students' skills as critical, creative, and ethical thinkers. A central theme will allow a focus on applying conceptual material to solve real-world issues. Emphasis will be placed on communication skills and community engagement. CORE 200 - Global Understanding: Strategies of Changemakers I This course helps prepare students to become engaged, productive global citizens by developing their understanding of global systems, cultural diversity, and global self-awareness. The highly interdisciplinary field of global systems science will be used to provide a structure for learning about natural and human systems, the varied experiences and perspectives of others, and their own positions in global society. CORE 400 - Global Change: Strategies for Changemakers II This course helps prepare students to become engaged, productive global citizens by further developing their understanding of global systems, cultural diversity, and global self-awareness, and putting that knowledge into action. The highly interdisciplinary field of global systems science will be used to promote culturally cognizant and globally self-aware advocates for change in the natural and human systems of the world. Each 15-week course is scheduled to be taught in person, on campus at Mount Aloysius College in Cresson, PA. Both daytime and evening teaching opportunities exist. (Online teaching opportunities are not available for Adjunct Faculty in the General Education program at this time.) Adjunct Faculty at Mount Aloysius College may participate in our retirement savings plan, and are eligible for limited tuition remission benefits for themselves and their dependents. As an Adjunct Faculty member, you also receive complimentary access to our wellness center/gym, are eligible for the Employee Assistance Program (EAP) and have access to various employee discounts. Qualifications Master's degree in communication, philosophy, environmental science, geography, sociology, education or related field required. Minimum three (3) years' teaching experience at the collegiate level required. An equivalent combination of applicable teaching experience and education will be considered. Strong interpersonal skills, both oral and written, are required. Experience using Canvas Learning Management System, or similar LMS preferred. Applicants must have the ability to employ various teaching methods and effectively incorporate technology into the teaching/learning process. Faculty are expected to create an interactive, student-centered learning environment in the classroom. Some basic course materials should be made available to students using the Canvas Learning Management System. Adjunct appointments are single-semester opportunities only, with no guarantee of future appointments. The course comprises a three-hour lecture and a two-hour lab. The lecture may be offered twice a week or three times a week, depending on need.
