JOB SUMMARY: As a member of the Utilization Management Team, the UR Coordinator helps establish and maintain efficient methods of ensuring the medical necessity and appropriateness of hospital admissions and extended stays. The Utilization Management Team directs the program in accordance with Mountain View Hospital's mission and strategic goals. The Utilization Management Team directs those activities within the facility which monitor adherence to the hospital's utilization review plan. The goal of Utilization Management is to continuously improve effective use of hospital services through monitoring patient admissions and stays.

The RN and LPN provide direct and indirect patient care in the clinic setting. He/she communicates with providers/nurse manager/co-workers as appropriate, about changes in patient's clinical condition including results of diagnostic evaluation and changes in patient condition or symptomatology. The nurse will be able to respond quickly and accurately to changes in condition or response to treatment, and avail his or herself of all training, skills and ability commonly developed through attainment of licensure in their field. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
THE LPN/RN
1. Work under direct supervision of MD, PA-C or NP to provide excellent patient care to all clients that come to the office
2. Is able to perform a head-to-toe assessment on all patients and performs re-assessments as per policy. This includes: pediatric, geriatric, the general patient population, and EMTALA appropriate medical screening exams.
3. Is able to interpret results of tests accurately, taking appropriate action on test results.
4. Performs patient care responsibilities considering needs specific to the standard of care for patient's age.
5. Is knowledgeable of medications and their correct administration based on age of the patient and their clinical condition.
6. Formulates a teaching plan based on identified patient learning needs and evaluates effectiveness of learning, family is included in teaching as appropriate.
7. Capably assists providers with procedures and performs services requiring technical and manual skills.
8. Is able to perform treatments and provide services to level of licensure.
9. Treats patients and their families with respect and dignity. Identifies and addresses psychosocial, cultural, ethnic and religious/spiritual needs of patients and their families. Functions as a liaison between administration, patients, physicians and other healthcare providers.
10. Interacts professionally with patient/family and involves patient/family in the formation of the plan of care.
11. Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and the skills necessary to provide age appropriate care to the patient population served. Able to interpret data about the patient's status in order to identify each patient's age specific needs and provide care needed by the patient group.
12. Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors.
13. Consults other departments as appropriate for an interdisciplinary approach to the patient's needs.
14. Communicates appropriately and clearly to co-workers and physicians.
15. Maintains a good working relationship both within the department and with other departments.
16. Acts as a resource for other less experienced nursing staff to include additional staff educational duties as assigned.
17. Take patient phone calls and address patient issues with physician when necessary.
18. Ensure physician orders are correctly ordered and sent to appropriate testing facility.
19. Obtain prior authorization for medications, procedures, and lab orders.
20. Track high risk patients to ensure all tests are completed and reviewed by physician.
21. Assist physician with managing sleep study list and follow up with sleep patients as directed.
22. Ensure charts are up to date with paperwork correctly filled out prior to patient's appointment with physician.
23. Documentation meets current standards and policies.
24. Manages and operates equipment safely and correctly.
25. Is flexible, organized and functions under stressful situations.
26. Completes annual education requirements.
27. Maintains regulatory requirements.
28. Maintains patient confidentiality at all times.
29. Reports to work on time and as scheduled, completes work within designated time.
30. Wears identification while on duty, uses computerized punch time system correctly.
31. Attends annual review and department in-services, as scheduled.
32. Attends at least 75% of staff meetings annually.
33. Maintain flexibility in a growing environment and be willing to grow, change and accept new duties as the scope of care changes with the needs of the community and hospital.

Evaluate patients prior to surgery
Provide patient and family education surrounding the procedure and peri-operative process
Assume responsibility for patient preparation, including intravenous therapy, preoperative medications, and surgical site verification
Participate in surgical site verification, including briefing, time out, debriefing, and universal protocols, according to hospital policy
Recognize and respond to patient emergencies
Deliver high-quality, patient-centered care while managing evidence-based practices and continuous improvement initiatives
Be an integral member of a dynamic interdisciplinary team consisting of the provider(s), surgeons, surgical technologists and more

In this role:
You will be responsible for all testing and interventional procedures that take place in the Cath lab. These procedures include but are not limited to cardiac catheterizations, percutaneous coronary interventions, cardiac rhythm device implants, IVC filters, balloon pump, impella, pericardiocentesis, aortic aneurysm repair, electrophysiology, structural heart, and performing moderate procedural sedation.
You willfacilitateeffective communication among departmental staff to ensureinterdisciplinaryand collaborative approach to patient care.
You will performappropriate SBARprocesses for hand-off communication.

Responsibilities
Assist in the preparation and management of the operating room for surgical procedures.
Administer anesthesia and monitor patient vital signs throughout the surgical process.
Collaborate with surgical teams to uphold safety standards and ensure optimal patient outcomes.
Perform duties related to patient care before, during, and after surgery.
Be available for weekend call rotation and off-hour trauma support as needed.
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure
3+ years of operating room experience.
Experience with trauma cases is a must.
Required certifications include BLS.
Preferred qualifications: CNOR certification, experience in burn, robotic, and neuro surgery.
